In Seaside Proper "Fish Tales" is Adorable and Steps to the Beach!

  My wife and I and two young children stayed in Fish Tales in May 2013. Seaside is a great little city, but the cottage could have been better. Booking the property was easy through the rental agency although we were surprised to never have someone greet us at the house as was indicated by the rental agreement and as I had noticed on other reviews. I also noticed someone mentioned this house is rented by the owner and not an agency. This is not the case, as I said we rented through an agency and never met a real person while we were there. That said, we were a little disappointed with the cottage itself. The location was good but the cottage really needs some work. Not only was it dirty (we spent a couple hours cleaning spots/spills off the floor and vacuuming shortly after we arrived so our toddler children didn’t have to play in dirt), there are many maintenance issues. Beyond just being a little tired looking due to lack of cleaning and regular maintenance, there were specific issues such as: The bathroom sink does not drain. The bathroom faucet leaks around the lever handle. The toilet does not flush properly (you have to flush it 2 or 3 times every time you use it). Cabinet doors in the kitchen and bathroom are falling off the hinges. A couple locksets where very loose (Luckily I was able to borrow a screwdriver from a contractor working on the house next door so I could fix the lockset on the main entrance door). For what we expected at the rental price and in a community like Seaside, Fishtales did not really meet our expectations. And when we emailed the rental agency after our stay regarding these issues, we received no response. Staying in Fishtales did not ruin our vacation, we still had a great time, but if we go back to Seaside, we will definitely be looking at other cottages.

  This is the cutest cottage, so friendly and fun. Fish Tales is not even a two minute walk to the beach and town center. It's quiet and private and in a lovely park. Yet, when you walk a few steps from the driveway, you are in the heart of all the activity. This is a family friendly cottage and we'll be coming back soon. Our kids love Fish Tales and counted all the neat fish art in the cottage over and over. Can't beat the location! There's so much fun stuff to do in Seaside, we never stopped. Highly recommend this cottage.

  My family and I had a wonderful vacation. Sissie was there to greet us on arrival and was very accommodating and a gracious host. It was very pleasant to deal directly with an owner instead of a rental agency. Many Seaside rentals on VRBO are actually through agencies and not directly through owners which I find a bit deceiving. This is the real deal. The cottage is on a short dead end street with limited parking. Sissie made arrangements prior to our arrival to accommodate our parking needs. The cottage has an unusual lay out but was very cozy and comfortable. There's a great back porch with rocking chairs to enjoy the garden and gazebo area between Rosewalk and Roberts Way. My son loved playing with his friends in this area. The cottage is very convenient to the beach and there are plenty beach toys for guest to use. Overall it was a great week and I would definitely recommend this cottage to others. Thanks Sissie!!!

  Our family stayed at Fish Tails in July and the house was perfect for us(2 adults, 2 small boys). The house is a VERY short walk to beach and heart of Seaside. It is very nice and in wonderful condition with "beachy" atmosphere and decor. Tower room had wonderful views and our boys loved eating their breakfast up there each morning. Perfect house for a family to stay for a week. The owner is very professional and available with any needs and gave us advice on what to do since it was our first time to the area. Perfect house for a family looking for a week in paradise!
