So Worth It!

We had a wonderful time, the cabin was absolutely everything the pictures show and more! The owners really did think of everything! Look for the helpful hints they have listed on the coffee table! We were blown away as to how cozy it really was and all the comforts of home! Absolutely looked forward to waking up, sitting up in the loft bedroom and seeing the morning light up the mountains! Every day was a little different, sometimes the mist would be covering parts of the mountains below and you felt like you were above the clouds, other days you could see everything! It was very clean, lots of towels, blankets, etc, well stocked with all you need, including bird seed! From there, the drives to what we wanted to do were pretty short: up to the Tail of the Dragon (twice), Cades Cove, the Biltmore, horseback riding, Nantahala Gorge, the train ride to the NOC, the hike up to Clingman's Dome (worth it!). The Frymont Inn was the best food in Bryson, we only tried 2 and the other (Iron Skillet) was not good. We grilled half the nights and had lunch or the other dinners out of town. We couldn't get the fire pit to work, but maybe user error? or it was low on propane. It wasn't high on our list, so I didn't call to find out. But the HOT TUB! now that did get used A LOT!!! We are now getting one for our house, with a TV in the corner, the same way. It was a life saver with my bad cold, I could not wait to get in there every night! Watching game 7 on the tube in the hot tub, with plastic cups holding our favorite drinks, was a wonderful way to spend our last night. It's heaven in the outskirts of a small rustic town, with plenty of things to do in surrounding areas. The fall colors were absolutely fabulous! We will be back!

Absolutly the best place and time we have had in years. This place was built as a home and with love. It made us feel like we were house sitting for someone. It is that much like a home and not a rental cabin. Only this home is located in one the best places around Bryson City and what a view. Really liked sitting on the large swing and just simply taking it all in. We needed that. It was nice being up and located away from other cabins, it is really private. We cannot wait to come back, and visit again. We will not be recommending this cabin to others, because we want to ensure open dates when we can rent it..............just kidding. Thanks for allowing us to stay here. We were blessed by the experience.

Wonderful and well worth staying at!

What a wonderful place to stay while enjoying the beautiful views and nature. Close to several waterfalls and a short drive from Catalooche to see the elk. Everything was clean, well-maintained and labelled so we knew which light switch to turn on and how to operate everything. Lots of books to read-I recommend the series by Dr. Walt Larimore written about his medical practice in Bryson Ciry in the early 1980s. We highly recommend this lodging to others and hope to return ourselves. The owner thought of everything you will need to enjoy your stay and provided detailed directions and a map to drive up to Mountain High- an apt name for such a beautiful location. The train ride was fun (we took the west route to NOC) and with it you get free admission into the train museum which has more trains than you can imagine. A definite must for any model train enthusiastist. We enjoyed meals at The Station, both Italian restuarants in Bryson City and the Maggie Valley Dinor on the way to see the elk. The hike up the path to Cllingman's Dome (off Route 441) was worth the effort.

We were looking for a cabin that would be a half way point to meet our best freinds from Illinois. Moutain High was 15 minutes difference in driving time according to Mapquest. This cabin is a peice of Heaven on Earth. Our long weekend could not have been better! The cabin was more than you can imagine. The quiet time, the view, everything was great! We live in a log home so this visit was like being home. Two of our grown children also came along and enjoyed it also. This is the first time I can remember in over 30 years of marriage that my wife said as was drove away from the cabin that she was not ready to go home. That says it all. God Bless the owners of this lovely place for sharing it with everyone. You will not find more pleasant folks to deal with anywhere. The morning we were heard an elk call. Memories are not only etched on our cameras but also in our minds. Thanks for everything. Nate, Cathy, Ethan, Sammi Rife Crescent City, Florida and Bill and Lynn Smock Rossville, Il.

We just spent our 31st anniversary at Mountain High. It was our best ever! The cabin was everything we had been told, and more. So beautiful & comforable. Watching the sunset from the deck was breathtaking. Watching the stars from the outdoor jacuzzi at night in total solitude made you want to stay and ponder the wonder of it all for hours. But even more spectacular was the amazing sight as you wake up and see the mountain peaks coming from the morning fog. It was an unforgetable weekend. I can't wait to go back. We have stayed in a lot of places and this, by far, was the one that had been touched by love!! Thank you Frank for allowing us to share your home. We visited Mountain High 9/30-10/3/2007. This place could truly be described as "heaven on earth". It was so peaceful and beautiful. From the moment you walk up on the deck and see the commanding view of the Smokey Mountains you are swept away to the most serene surroundings. The Mulkey's went beyond their responsibility to provide a place to stay. They provide so much more and we are happy that they are willing to share this special place with us.

It is impossible to find new ways to describe Mountain High because it defies superlatives. Our week on the mountain was as good as any week could be, and for anybody in search of the perfect mountain retreat--this is the place! In addition to the wonderful cabin, there were so many personal touches that we had the impression that the Mulkeys were old friends who wanted to do more than simply rent their cabin-- they wanted to share their treasure with us. And we thank them.

We had a great time at Mountain High. I was surprised to see everything you would find at home. Books, movies, magazines, games. We really felt at home. It was a little tricky bringing our 3 year old son with us. I was a mother hen making sure he did not get too close to the edge of the mountain and the fire pit outside. He loved the model train and watching the birds and squirrels eat. Thanks for a nice vacation. We will have great memories

This cabin is wonderful! I stayed here with my boyfriend and another couple and it was perfect for 4 and maybe even 6. The view is amazing especially if it is sunset or sunrise! We didn't leave the cabin all weekend. It was very relaxing. The hottub was amazing and even had its own view! There is a charcoal grill, satelitte radio, and gas fireplace. We had a weekend visit by a stray cat we named Bryson! He is really sweet and give him a little love if he comes by! He liked hanging out when we were grilling and in the hottub! We will be back to visit soon! Thanks so much!

You won't regret renting this luxury cabin on the mountain. It is very private and serene. Fully furnished, you don't even need to bring your toothebrush! It has everything you need from home. Actually, we felt very much like it was our own house. We loved it and the kids wanted to stay even longer, which is a good sign. All the bear decorations and holiday decor was perfect. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year!

My fiance and I were planning a wedding and we knew that for our honeymoon that we wanted to stay in North Carolina. After months and months of looking on the internet we found MountainHigh. We knew from the pictures that it would be great, but we had no idea...It was PERFECT!!! The cabin alone was amazing along with all the accomadations they had, but the VIEW..WHOA more than words can describe as well as the sunsets. There was also all types of things to do around the cabin. One day we were driving through the Smokie Mountains and saw a baby bear and elk it was awsome. We will definetley be making plans to stay here in the future, maybe for our one year anniversary. It was a perfect place to stay and I HIGLY reccomend it weather it be for family or for romance. We were soo honored to stay there. The Hines(Newley Weds form Tampa, FL)

My wife and I spent five fantastic days at "Mountain High" in early October. We have never stayed at a more completely furnished vacation dwelling in such a great setting. After busy days of hiking and sightseeing in the park it was so wonderful to return to the cabin to grill some steaks, relax and enjoy some of the most beautiful sunsets we have ever seen. There was so much to see and do in the area we simply ran out of time. We both look forward to a return visit.

"Aaaa" Let me start out by saying we spent 3 months researching cabin rentals you need to look no farther, you have entered heaven on earth. Never could I put into words what I have experienced at Mountain High. The sign and the welcome bear are just the beginning of a dream come true. Standing on the deck, I feel as though I could fly...being so far up on the mountain and staring in amazement at the glorious mountain range and the endless skies before me. The heavens feel as though they are at my very reach- I breathe the air and feel the warmth of the sun...my soul is cleansed. My parents and the other precious lost are here with me...smiling down. Everything in the world is good and right. Thank You ever so much from the bottom of my heart for this uplifting and most wonderful experience. Through your gracious sharing, all that are lucky enough to visit mountain high will have a lifetime experience. The details from the train and warm decore, to the ammenities-the hot tub and fresh inviting living quarters-to our messages and reminders of the Lord throughout the entire property...you have left nothing incomplete. Thank You for sharing your home with us. We are truly blessed to have discovered MOUNTAIN HIGH and are ever so greatful. The Mulkey's are Angels sent from the Lord to show us all what life really means. Until next year-take care and God Bless. "The Name of the Lord is a strong tower; the rightmeous run into it and are safe." Proverbs 18:10 Evie Ballard Wausau, Wisconsin

The cabin was such a great place to stay - so much room and the washer and dryer really came in handy:) We loved it!!! Thanks!!

It is difficult not to be redundant of comments already made about "Mountain High" because it is all that has been said and more. Simply put, my husband and I spent a week of complete Paradise at Mountain High at the peak of Autumn colors. The moment you walk in the door, you are surrounded by unmistakable hospitality...the Mulkeys have not overlooked a single thing in provisions to their guests. It should also be noted how easy Frank was to deal with, as our vacation was planned just as my husband always plans them...LAST MINUTE! Of all the places we have vacationed in over the years, "Mountain High" is the one we KNOW we will return to. Once you have experienced the Paradise this place has to offer, you cannot fathom never experiencing again...and again. Thank you, Frank and Judy, for all you do to welcome your guests. As evidenced by guest comments, you can surely see that your efforts have not gone unrewarded. We look forward to returning to "Mountain High", and without a doubt, we will.

This cabin is not as advertised. It is much much better!!!! Words cannot describe how nice and peaceful this place is. Furthermore, pictures do not adequately portray the magnificant view of the Smokey Mountains. It is almost as if you can reach out and touch Clingmans's Dome in the park which is just "across the way." We were very pleased with every facet of our stay. This is the 3rd cabin we have rented in the past four years and we will definitely not look for any more. We will be back. The owners are fantastic to deal with and are good, solid, Christian people who you can trust. They have paid significant attention to details in the cabin. There was not a single thing that we needed or wishced that we had. They have gone out of their way to provide nice personal touches...to the point that it was almost like we were using their home for a few days. We highly recommend the cabin. We can't think of a thing that any other cabin could provide that would be better than this one.

We stayed at Mountain High for a week in October 2005. It was absolutely wonderful! The feeling of being away from it all (though you're close enough to "civilization" to have access to anything wanted or needed) was what allowed a total relaxation. The view from the front deck is not only a beautiful one, but is so peaceful. The cabin itself is all one could ask for, providing every modern convenience and comfort, and yet providing a way to get away from the daily grind and get back to nature. What a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the mountain breeze, the birds, and the distant sound of the train pulling out of Bryson City. We can hardly wait to go back! And just one other comment - this was my first time renting from a non-corporate entity (i.e., a hotel or the like), and I was at first a little apprehensive about how it may work. Let me assure you, if you have any such concerns, don't worry! This was first class all the way, an upstanding deal! You couldn't ask for anything more or better in terms of the business dealings or the cabin and location. We definitely want to go again!!

This is a wonderful place in a beautiful part of the country! The photos on VRBO don't do the cabin or the view of the mountains justice. The cabin is luxury class with many, many amenities. The view is spectacular, and the sunsets really are amazing. Our whole family loved it, especially the porch swing overlooking the mountain view. There are many things for families to do within just a few minutes of the cabin, including the railroad tour, jet boat ride on Lake Fontana, tubing down the Deep Creek in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, hiking (less than a mile) to the waterfalls once you're inside the Deep Creek entrance to the Park, etc., etc. It's a fun and relaxing place to spend some down-time!

What a great hideaway! We stayed at Mountain High for a week in July 2005, and it's hard to say what we enjoyed most! The seclusion, the mountain view, the flurry of birds each morning and night, the relaxing hot tub, the wonderful location, the cozy cabin with its wood deck and screen room....my list goes on and on. Although we packed everything we needed, it was nice to know that the Mulkey's had all the extras there for you, such as sugar for your coffee, laundry detergent, bathroom items, etc. We'd love to come back sometime when it is colder so we could enjoy the fireplace! Thank you very much for a wonderful vacation. My husband and I enjoyed our stay and I came home with some wonderful photos of various birds, a chipmunk and one terrific sunset! A++ all the way!

When my 15 year old son said he wanted to go to the mountains, I let him and his sister choose the place. They could not have done a better job. The Mulkeys' attention to detail at Mountain High made it a truly wonderful relaxing vacation. Though we had fun rafting, tubing, and hiking, we also spent time relaxing at the cabin. The view, serenity, porch swing, and hot tub all added to a perfect vacation. As a side note, the resident racoon makes a nightly visit to the bird feeder, and will stay around long enough for a picture if you have your camera ready. Enjoy!!

My wife Charlene and I, spent two wonderful vacations at "Mountain High.In addition to all the luxurious amenities, the beautiful nature environment of the mountainside isa positive AAA+. Fireflies in summer, like small flickering candles. Gentle aromatic breezes roam the mountain just looking for you. personally. The very rhythm of this ancient mountain seems to melt away stress, and some how brings a renewing of mind and body. For a vision that will be etched on your soul forever, try sitting on the porch late in the evening, watchingthe Great Smoky Mountain Train crawl across the valley far below. The distant whistle drifts up to you likea healing balm. You'll want to package it's euphoria and inoculate the whole world with it, but of course you cannot. It will be yours alone——A nice romantic soak in the hot tub, then off to bed. We preferred the attic bedroom. There is no lullaby like nature's own, in an attic bedroom, a-top your own private mountain. If you are lucky enough to get a shower during the night; the gentle fall of raindrops on the roof,[just above your head], may sound like far away drumsof the ancient Cherokee's. Hmmm——. Or——,or——.Good night and pleasant dreams.Zeano & Charlene MossRex, Georgia 30273

After several days at "Mountain High" It was time to say good bye and reflect on our time spent there. To sum up our feelings about this cabin, it's view and the comforts of home it offered, the words "Heaven On Earth" came to mind. We loved the cabin and all the peace that it brought within. The sunsets are so beautiful, especially when you enjoy them from the swing. The swing was a favorite of ours. We also loved the train and enjoyed watching it from the hammock. We have NEVER been to a place where we relaxed so much and had so much fun. The view is so awesome and being able to hear the Smokey Mountain train and watch it go through town from the porch was a real treat. We appreciate the Mulkey's for caring so much about their guests and offering every comfort of home that they can provide. You can feel the love they put into the home while you are there. I loved the bear tree that lights up on the stair landing. And the pamper baskets say "Welcome, make yourself at home". We will return to Mountain High and would recommend this cabin to all of our friends and family. It is truly a place to enjoy, to feel peace within, to relax and to feel God's presence. Thank you Mr.& Mrs. Mulkey for opening your second home to us and for making it so wonderful, so comfortable and so peaceful. Fondly, Greg & Linda Gates
