Ideal location. Seclusion, but with a ton of activities in driving distance. We took the canoe out, swam, grilled, hiked some appalachain train, went to deep creek, bike riding in Tsali... house was a steal at this price! not a complaint. rooms are big, clean. will definitely book again next summer

Cath and I had such a fantastic time here in may 2011, the weather wasn't the best although the 1st day was windy it was bright and sunny and we got to canoe across the lake and found out we had muscles we didn't know existed. The house is one of the best we have stayed in in the US and the location is to die for even if the roads are abit windy and long to get to it. We had a bit if a problem with the downstairs electrics when we arrived but Marilyn quickly gave us some great pointers and we managed to fix the issue without any real inconvenience. The wifi worked brilliantly for us. The house was spotless and well presented when we arrived and the protection of a gate code was an added security benefit. We had a great day out, in the open top car we rented, driving to fonatana Dam, the highest east of the rockies!, through the nantahala gorge, the outdoor centre on the way was great for a coffee and people watching if a bit on the younger side than ourselves. Wish we could get access to places like nantahala as cheaply over here in the uk but just being on a road trip in the US is fun in itself and I would recomend natahala lake and this house to anyone. Even though its only a couple of weeks since we were there it seems a lifetime away and we miss the peace and tranquility of it all. Our thanks go to Marilyn for allowing us to visit the house it was such a privilege we will remember for a long time to come.

We had a great Memorial Day weekend here. The house and location really caters to relaxation and the outdoor enthusiast. I love all the trees around the house and the short wooded trail leading down to the dock. The house is snuggled nicely into its surroundings and they've really made a point to preserve the natural setting (unlike some other houses that cut down much of the natural beauty around them). The house itself was clean and well appointed with every amenity (spacious living room, fireplace, nice beds and bedrooms, two full bathrooms, complete kitchen, grill, deck, hot tub, ping-pong / air hockey / pool tables.. TV..etc.). We had nice leisurely paddles out on the lake with the kayaks and canoe (the sit-on-top kayaks are great for exploring the various coves and banks around the lake). And the private dock is perfect for swimming (water was surprisingly mild) and also just relaxing in reclining chairs on the dock.. taking in the lake and fantastic mountain views. Grilled out dinner on the deck.. relaxed in the hot-tub in the evening..etc Great spot.. we didn't want to leave :) Would definitely go back here.

My wife and two friends and I stayed here over the Halloween weekend, 2009, and it was fabulous. It was unfortunate that the weather wasn't the best the entire three nights we spent there, but the house amenities made up for that. We did get a chance to take the canoe out on a warm, sunny Saturday, and we used the owner's notes to guide us around to see the various streams and watefalls. This is a great place for a group, or even better for a romantic getaway for two since it is right on the lake, and the views cannot be beat! I would definitiely return to this home in the future.

This was the perfect house for our family. It was clean, well maintained and the ideal setup for grandparents, parents and two kids. We all enjoyed the view; the area was beautiful. We all also enjoyed taking the canoe and kayaks out onto the lake - especially since it was a short walk out the back door. We would definitely recommend this property!

We spent a week of our daughter's spring break in this house. We have been going to Lake Nantahala since we were both children (at least 25 years). This house is wonderful. It is neat, clean, up-to-date and has a wonderful open floor plan with many, many fantastic amenities. We took our own boat and could tie it up at the private dock. It was one of the best vacations we have had in a while and this house truly contributed to that. We are certain to stay again many, many more times in the future - we plan to every year now. Thanks Marilyn for sharing your awesome lake house with us.

The canoe and kayak provided many wonderful opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty of the lake. The home is spacious, comfortable and has all of the amenities necessary for a wonderful NC vacation.

Our home is new and we are just now starting our guest book. It is a great idea to share insights among guests and pass along tips about favorite things to do etc. We love staying at our Lake Nantahala house and hope it will provide a welcome retreat for you, too. (Marilyn and Jim)
