Nice cabin

Positive: The inside of the cabin was well maintained. Everything was clean and neat. Owner very responsive and helpful. (I lost the key while staying there and the owner sent someone out with a new key in less than an hour.) Negative: Very long gravel, bumpy road to cabin. Outside not well maintained (weeds growing right up to front porch). View is mostly blocked by trees.
Owner response:We removed 8 trees to open up the view since there stay. Please review on this web-site. We also cleared one quarter of land around the cabin and landscaped this with weed control plastic and had 3 loads of brown mulch layed upon the plastic for a nice image.

We came to Blue Ridge to visit our family for Thanksgiving and we were absolutely pleased with our stay at the DreamCatcher. It was myself my husband and 3 boys. As the last people commented we found no bugs inside. Everything we needed was there for a very enjoyable stay over the weekend. We rode the train and went to Merciers apple orchard. Blue Jeans Pizzaria was the best restaurant in Blue Ridge. We will deffinatly be in contact with Michelle to stay at one of her other cabins. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay and everything was neat and very clean. The hot tub was so very relaxing on those cold evenings, and the boys had great fun exploring in the woods. We WILL be back. Thanks again Michelle. The Sauls Family

The cabin was clean, it had every thing that we needed for a great stay. The view from the deck was great. We used the hot tub on a moon lite night and had a wonderful time. Located close to Mercier Orchards and Market. Great places to eat in Blue Ridge. Good place to hike if you want to. Look forward to going back.

CABIN NEEDS LOTS OF WORK

Pictures provided are not accurate unfortunately. The cabin has a pretty lot overlooking the mountains but not worth it when you are having to sit on dirty furniture, walk on dirty rugs, and sleep on thread bare stained linens, and deal with roaches. Furniture needs to be cleaned and the stuffing is coming out of the couch where it is ripped. Sheets and linens are very stained and thread bare so they don't look clean even after they are washed. The rugs are in horrible condition with crusty stains on all of them. There were roaches crawling on the bedroom wall. There is no ice maker so make sure you bring ice with you. It is not a short drive to the grocery so go prepared. The hot tub was broken and is in need of repair. That was the biggest disappointment. It definitely will only hold 4 people. It is not as large as advertised unless all people are under the age of 10. The hot tub leaked water all over the deck. We had to use the water hose to fill the tub up twice because water was running out of the bottom. The maids were called back to the property but the items were either dirty and couldn't be washed (rugs) or the hot tub needed a part so they could only put more water in it. This cabin needs a lot of work. There were no start up products so bring your own soap, garbage bags, and toilet paper. You can read that someone else left a negative review and these issues have still not been addressed. I wish I had chosen a different property - definitely not a good place to stay if you want to relax. The third bedroom looks as though the deck was closed in and made into a third bedroom. Unfortunately it doesn't feel insulated and much colder than the rest of the house. The loft is extremely small and would only hold small children. The futon in the loft looks very dirty. This cabin would be perfect for a fraternity party but not for a family or couple to relax.
Owner response:My first poor review except when a family arrived two hours early over a year ago and the cabin was still being cleaned! The couple that rented and signed the contract of my family vacation home never contacted me personally. I received a call from a lady that was not not on the contract. The only complaint was that they saw a bug not a roach, the upstairs shower had leaked water due to the shower curtain not being closed properly . I immediately sent my cleaning crew to the cabin and this group would not allow my manager inside the cabin. My manager checked the outside hottub and it was a few inches low on water, they filled it to the top and crystal clear water. I personally drove to the cabin the morning of there departure and found out that every bed was slept in and all 11 bed pillows used . I went though all sets of sheets with a fine tooth comb and yes I found the brand new pair of high quality sheets that had a penny size stain that I could not get out myself but I had more new sheets. I purchased new towels and washed the two small rugs even though they didn’t look dirty. The comforters are new and the furniture is in great condition just like the web site pictures show except for a small tear that I mended that morning. The hottub was crystal clear even after they departed and they enjoyed it. I provide laundry detergent, chlorox, dishwasher soap, bathroom hand soap, hottub chemicals, initial setup of toilet paper, garbage bags and papertowels and this is written on my contract to bring additional during your stay. Based on the number of people sopposely staying we left them enough towels. I pay monthly for a bug service in Blue Ridge for years that are reputable. Now I understand why they were dissatisfied, they had additional people in my vacation home without approval, needed more towels, toilet paper and needed more bathrooms. This hotub is a 7 person hottub and will hold 7 adults, I can only assume based off the # pillows and sheets used they must have had a very large group . My vacation home is beautiful, clean, bugfree unless you keep a door open to the outside. Please rent my family vacation home and if it does not meet your standards after inspected by myself and my cleaning manager upon your arrival and as long as you don’t break the rules I will comp your family a free night. Sincerely, Owner for 10 years

I have rented this property a few times and will rent more times. I love the rustic feel to the area as well as the TON OF ROOM on the inside. I love the local grocery store and I always pack my own toilet paper and such but never had to use em! Thanks for the wonderful time. I will be back.

My husband and I stayed at this property for a much-needed getaway from the stresses of everyday life. I was a little worried having not ever stayed in the Blue Ridge mountains before and not knowing much about the property, but from the minute we arrived we couldn't have been more satisifed in our choice. The cabin was nice and clean, pleasantly appointed, and the hot tub was the icing on the cake! And such a great view! Thanks Michelle for making our stay so amazing, memorable and therapeutic! We will be back :)

We arrived late afternoon with two small children and found the house had not been cleaned, and the dirty linens were in the floor. It took a while to reach the owner by phone. Would have been nice to have a local person to contact. Cleaning people arrived an hour or so once we could contact the owner. The space in the house was adequate as well as the furnishings. Overall the house needs some much needed TLC. Bed and bath linens need to be replaced as well as the cookware and knives in the kitchen. The coffee pot leaked when used. No chopping boards to be found. The mini blinds were very dirty as well as under the beds. The area around the play fort and swing needs some mulch or gravel and some of the wooden parts were missing. Trash area was overflowing. Take everything you need if renting this house(paper towels, toliet paper, kitchen supplies and trash bags. No starter items were supplied. The house could be very nice with some attention. The view off the deck was nice. It was quiet at night but definitely too hard to find if arriving at night. Some of the road is gravel. The drive into Blue Ridge took about 15 to 20 minutes and there is a nice grocery store in the town but nothing closer. We took the Blue Ridge Scenic train ride which is worth doing if you have never been to the area. Especially fun for children. Would definitely not rent this house again unless some upgrades are made.
Owner response: The family arrived early and the cabin was not ready. I was traveling by plane and it took me 15 minutes to respond back, normally I respond back within 5 minutes. I asked the family if they needed to grocery shop and they said they would leave while my staff of 2 were scheduled to arrive in 15 minutes. The men left but the wives stayed and would not allow my staff to complete the cleaning and requested a full refund which was not necessary. The renters would not allow cleaning crew to stock toiletry items or vacuum etc. I have all new comforters and sheets. After there departure I had a deep cleaning completed along with each window blind taken down and cleaned and added more towels. The window blinds needed cleaning, they were correct!! I have many reviews and the only one with an opportunity is the weeds being tall and I reacted immediatley and had the lot cleared along with delivering a key the renters misplaced within a timely manner. Sincerely, Michele Kirk

Enjoyed my stay here. Very quiet and secluded. Very well maintained. Not too far into town for groceries, food, shopping. If you stay here, make sure you bring everything - kleenex, garbage bags, coffee creamer, matches, sugar, spices, etc. Disappointed that all the wood was left out in the open, so couldn't build a fire right away, had to wait for some to dry out. No kindling either. But overall, had a very relaxing time.
