Just finished a great week at this property! It is beautiful on the inside and has a great, relaxing view on the outside. The kitchen has everything you need - even a hand crank popcorn maker! The layout of the home has the kitchen and living room in the middle with bedroom wings on either side - great for two families traveling together or as in our case, one for the kids and one for the adults! There were a few games in the closet that we never got a chance to play, although the foosball room was a helpful way to entertain the kids while waiting to get in the car! The owners were responsive and easy to work with before/during/after our stay. When we didn't want to cook dinner, we headed 25 minutes down the road to Cave Creek for delicious Mexican or Barbecue.Went for a guided horseback ride there too, which my 7 and 18 year olds loved. Another day headed north to Out of Africa animal refuge - a hit for the 2, 4, and 65 year olds alike. (We hit the Walmart our first day to stock up on kid toys - thanks Grandma!) Hiked to Chinamen's hat (the peak shown behind the pool) which is about 5 miles round trip - only steep at the very end. It was also lovely just hanging at the house catching up on our books or swimming. It's a lovely home perfect if are looking for a relaxing, quiet, rural retreat. Just remember to enjoy the night sky from the hot tub. It took us a few days to figure out this amazing evening activity!

This property was perfect for our family of 4 kids. the pool is beautiful with a wonderful mountain view. The home is immaculate and beuatifully decorated. The mountain-biking and hiking is right out the back door. It's a great place for an active family. We also played tennis and went to a water park not too far away. The hot tub at night is great for star gazing. The only bad part was having to leave.

we traveled with a six month grand daughter and our children one of whom is handicapped. The house configuration was extremely accessible for our daughter including the patio. We thoroughly enjoyed eating our meals on the patio with views of the desert. The home is comfortable and easily handles 6-8 people without feeling congested. If you want absolute solitude and relaxation, this is your house. The drive to Carefree and activities was about 10 miles. One other consideration for travelers going to Arizona in March, the evenings are cool and and if you want to use the pool you will have to heat it which is relatively expensive. Being a frugal person, I would have appreciated more information on the cost of heating the pool and length of time it takes to heat it. Overall, my family would return to this house without hesitation.

Paul and Jacquie your Arizona home was as advertised and more, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at your home, it was relaxing as we walked in the door and took in the wonderful view as the sunset. Our "Girls weekend- Birthday Party" was enjoyed by all as we relaxed in the spa and enjoyed the view from the back patio at all times of the day. It was wonderful going for hikes as the few people we came across (neighbors) were all friendly and gave us extra idea's and references on the great places to eat and enjoy nearby. We all want to come back with our spouses as the house is definitely large enough for us and our spouses! Thanks so much for sharing your home, we loved our stay!

Great location. Step out the backyard and you are in the Tonto Mountain National Forest. Take the trail to Chinaman's hat (pictured) and you will appreciate the area even more. Cook steaks on the barbeque and eat at the table surrounding the outdoor fire pit. Enjoy your favorite beverage. Listen to the coyotes at night and gaze at the stars from the serenity of the outdoor spa. Don't worry about your pet dog getting away because the back yard is discreetly fenced. Take a traffic free ride to the golf courses and fine restaurants in and around Cave Creek. Be sure and hike the Cave Creek recreational area with trails for any age and ability. Yes, this home is every bit as advertised and my family and friends look forward to returning. Thanks Jackie and Paul.

Jacquie and Paul, Your house far exceeded our expectations. I could sit on the back patio all day long. We loved that we could hike without having to drive to a trail. The couple that came to change the battery in the smoke detector were very nice and we appreciate that you sent them over. We returned home on Thursday evening and left Friday morning at 6 am to go to our friend`s cabin for New Years and just returned home again. I far prefer the warmer weather in Arizona. I feel such a connection to the area and I know we will return to your home until we buy a place of our own. I will keep your Oregon property in mind as I love travelling to new places and we have never been to Oregon. All our best for a wonder 2012. .

We did come home safely although the winds were fierce driving back, all the way from Flagstaff to home (north of Albuquerque). The house was fabulous--way better than any of us expected. If all it had were that back patio, it would be worth it. We spent the majority of our time there. I forgot to check the propane when we left so I suppose you are right. Did anything other than the pool use propane? Possibly the spa? Because although we did not heat the pool, we did heat the spa a couple of nights. We may try and make our "Derby Day" vacation a tradition--at your Hacienda. Thanks again.

Wonderful vacation home, it was just as they described. We were there 3/26/11 - 4/2/11 and the weather was wonderful this time of year. Spent a day in Sedona (a must see), couple of days in Cave Creek, caught a preseason baseball game in Phoenix and hiked in Tonto National Forest a couple of days. We had a lot of fun just laying around the pool and hot tub having cocktails (that started in the morning and ran through the evening) doing nothing. We would highly recommend this property.

Hi Paul and Jacquie, We truly enjoyed our stay at Tonto Vista Hacienda! The views were absolutely stunning and the house was so well appointed! It is generally difficult for us to find accessible homes or condos that will accommodate our adult son, so the fact that your home is wheelchair accessible made it so much easier for us! We went to a few Sox training camp games, took a drive up to Montezuma Castle and the beautiful red rocks of Sedona and found a great Mexican restaurant (Barrio Cafe) in Phoenix. Thanks for sharing your home....altho the weather was a bit chilly while we were there we returned to 30 degree weather in the Chicago area! Thanks again and take care, Lynne 3/27/11

Again, thank you for renting your lovely home to us. We enjoyed ourselves over the hholiday season. It is difficult to get the whole family in the same place at the same time, but we succeeded and took a nice group picture with the cactus forest in the background. We enjoyed hiking, swimming, hot-tubbing, & cooking many family meals together. Many Blessings to Your family.

Ghosts? Last night in the front yard we saw something we could not explain. I heard laughing and then 3 diamond-shaped white objects about 3-4 feet tall tumbled out of the bushes and floated into the back yard. Two of us saw them. Has anyone else seen anything like this? Were they ghosts? Today I went for an early walk. It was lovely-moon waning high in the sky over the cactus; families of quail crossing the road;donkey braying in the distance; rabbits running for cover; crisp clear desert air. The neighborhood just waking up – people in cars and trucks going to work and dropping kids at the bus stop. This is very special.

Hi Paul and Jacquie, We had an absolutely fabulous time at the Hacienda! What a true vacation for us! We loved it so much that we would like to make it our yearly girls trip destination every year! So as long as you continue to rent it out, we will keep coming back! We just love the layout of the house, my two daughters and I slept in the larger King bedroom and my mother stayed in the other King. We loved having the laundry room close and the girls enjoyed the game room! The family room was perfect for night time television watching and playing games. The kitchen had just about anything you could ask for. We spent most of our time outside in the pool and around it! We ventured to the other part of the house just to get some games and to use the dryer in the study once! But it was equally as lovely too and we know if we ever want to bring our husbands or other friends, there is plenty of room! So all in all it was a wonderful experience! Thank you again for having such a beautiful and warm Hacienda and we look forward to visiting again! Jennifer 10/19/10

Looking forward to next year, Kathi, Brenda, Leila & Emmi 7/8/10 PS We did go to Cave Creek; checked out the Hideaway bar for a t-shirt, peeked in at Harold's, and then caught the first round of bull riding at the Buffalo Chip. Paul and Jacquie, We very much appreciate the use of your house. It worked so well for us as a family in many ways. The location was great given our need to access Phoenix, Troon, and points north on Route 17. The setting was wonderful and the pool and spa worked perfectly for our children. We found the house to be very comfortable and easy to function in. The kitchen was well set up and made it easy to do meals. So many things are done so nicely for a rental that we were surprised and pleased. In fact my wife wanted to make notes on the layout as at some point in the future we hope to downsize and get away from our three story approach to life. Thank you for sharing your house with us! The week passed too quickly! Warm regards, Ralph and Family 5/7/10

Thank you for all your hospitality and courtesies. We ran out of time to meet the horses which we intended to be a highlight for our kiddos too, especially after we all went horseback riding, our 7 year old grandson the youngest in our group! Our time was wonderful beyond our expectations and all too brief. We certainly have thoroughly enjoyed our stay and appreciate being able to experience the desert beauty in this fashion. Hi Jacquie and Paul: We had a wonderful time sharing your comfortable home in Cave Creek. There was plenty of room for all of us, and we enjoyed the hot tub especially with the unexpected cold weather in Phoenix! The special treat was having the horses there! The kids loved having the horses and visited them everyday. I am sure they had more than their fill of apples and carrots! Again, we want to thank you for sharing your home with us. It was so good to have all the Christmas lights and decorations. It made it so homelike and welcoming to us and to Santa! We were so happy to be with our extended family in Phoenix. There were over 50 family members at our nephew's Christmas Eve celebration in town. We have been coming to the Cave Creek area for over 40 years. It has changed so much and not all to the good. It was so wonderful to spend time looking out the windows at the unchanged desert from your home. It certainly was a good time! We wish you a Happy New Year and a great 2010! Paul and Jacquie.. Hope you are well. This place is amazing in AZ.. We are loving the view, the home, the pool and the sun. Sitting by the pool most of the day, making our 5 yr old do his homework and draw pictures of the animals and plants. And teaching him to swim. IT is perfect. And putting on the sunscreen. Running on the trails in the morning to the petroglephs and the indian fortress.. Very inspiring and thanks so much for letting us settle here for the week. Thanks so much! We had such a great time at your place! Thanks for sharing it with us! IT was truly one of the best vacations we've had. And if our 5 yr old son turns out to be the next Micheal Phelps, we'll have you to thank for that too! He swam non stop! Hope to connect again and have a great summer at the coast! Hi Paul and Jacquie, Glad to hear you made it safe and sound to Oregon. I wish I had the chance to meet both of you as well. Your home is lovely and more than met our expectations. We had a great and very relaxing time. The hikes out the back door and the refreshing swims were fantastic, but the never ending views were the highlight. We did make a day trip to Jerome and Sedona but otherwise didn't want to stray far from the Hacienda. We have friends that live south of Phoenix and they came up to meet us for dinner at El Encanto in Cave Creek and we had a fun time. Thank you so very much for letting us stay in your home and for being flexible on the timing. We truly appreciate it and look forward to possibly returning someday. Fantastic! This home was wonderful for more reasons than I can fit in this review. Sitting on the edge of the Tonto National Forest we enjoyed 2 great hikes leaving out of the back door and constant views of nature at its finest. This home's layout offered easy access to pool-side dining/relaxing and was very comfortable and luxurious. We made the short 1 and 1/2 hour drive to Sedona one day stopping in the old mining town of Jerome. We also hooked up with friends for dinner not far away in Cave Creek. We are already talking about returning possibly with another couple next time. The owners were great to deal with and we' highly recommend this home for a great get-away destination.

Your house is absolutely spectacular, the view is AMAZING,by far the best place that we've stayed in here in the US. We just love all of your selections on interior finish, in fact, I think it's going to cost me an extra $100,000 on our Mexico house as MIchelle is going around taking notes. I've never seen an electronic pool controller like the way you have. Your instructions are very detailed and I'm sure it put quite a bit of time for Adam to put that together. It is absolutely fabulous and we all really enjoyed ourselves. Everything was wonderful from the furnishings to the kitchen utensils and beyond. Myself and all my children really enjoyed ourselves. Everything was just great - and very clean. Talked to Gail a couple time and she was very nice. The weather of course was wonderful and I guess we really missed an awful week here, cold and rainy. We did go to the Grand Canyon and several museums, Frank Lloyd Wright, and saw some p[etroglyps ( I know I spelled this incorrectly) went to the Outlet shopping center and other sightseeing and shopping., Fun! I enjoyed reading your book about the family settling in New River, forgot the name. Anyway, Jacquie and Paul, we had such a wonderful time and again, Thank you. Paul and Jacquie- We had a great time in your beautiful home. The views and the pool were spectacular. We live in a very urban area...our backyard is probably the size of your pool...so our kids loved exploring your "backyard". As we can see about three stars every night in Oak Park, they were also amazed at the millions we could see at your house. They were also quite excited to learn that two frogs live in your pool every night. Sedona was beautiful, as always, and Lake Pleasant was really fun. We've been to AZ three times in the past two years for vacation. We're planning on returning next August and would love to stay at your home again. Thanks again, Kelly

Everything was there except food and clothes. You don't need anything. The office was very nice, the roomy beautifully decorated home was so comfortable and cheery we didn't want to leave. If you need to sightsee or go shopping it is very convenient to I-17 and shopping but very isolated for that get away feeling. We enjoyed a trail ride in nearby Cave Creek and some short shopping in Carefree. I highly recommend this property for a relaxing vacation in the dry climate of the desert.

Dear Jacquie, We had a wonderful time at your beautiful hacienda ! I wish there was a camera taking our picture when we all walked through the front door...the mountain view was spectacular. Everyone kept commenting on your decor of the house and the landscaping. there was so much to admire and all done with such exquisite taste. thank you so much for everything. the house was perfect for us. keep in touch. I just wanted to comment on how beautiful your home is. I was one of the Party who was there with Jean on May 5th. We had a wonderful time and we loved the house, pool and scenic view. It was a beautiful week and I am happy to have had the experience of the desert in such a beautiful home. Rhoda
