This was an absolutly wonderful stay for us. It was everything it was said to be and the views and grounds, including beach access, are better than the photos on the web page. We wanted a place that was large enough for my wife and I plus our son and family including two teenagers could relax in and possibly spend a lot of time inside in because it was, after all, winter on the Oregon coast so rain could just about be guaranteed at least at some point. There are four separate bedrooms, each with its own bath. Perfect! One for each of the couples and one for each teenager. Since we paid for it we got the upstairs master bedroom which turned out to be a great get a way to read while the rest of the folks were active, and what a view! In fact the views from the kitchen/dining room, living room, and of course outside deck were fantastic. Kitchen was well equipped and large enough for multiple cooking activities at the same time which is important to us because we are a cooking family and enjoy our time in the kitchen. There is a large refrigerator in the kitchen and another in the garage so we had enough room for all the food we brought for the entire week. The downstairs game room, which includes a separate bedroom, was also used on the couple of rainy days we had where we just decided to stay indoors. The walk to the beach turned out to be a great hike which we took at least once a day on all but I think two days. We will be back!

Owner response:We very much appreciate this very positive review however to not leave a wrong impression we should point out that while three of the bedrooms have their own connecting full bathrooms, the half bath for the basement bedroom is not connecting.

We just spent 5 nights here with kids & grandkids. The pictures don't do it justice with beach views from everywhere(including the master shower!) Your own sea stacks & tide pools an easy walk, hot tub to get the kinks out, great kitchen & big gas BBQ grill. Shuffleboard & Foosball every night. Great community playground in Gold Beach, plus bookstore/coffee shop and other artsy/crafty places(our favorite was the Myrtlewood store). Wonderful way to get away! 4/15/11

Oh Paul, We had such a wonderful time. Your house is beautiful! We did have a pretty huge storm on Wed. Other than that (and the fact that I thought the house was going to blow off the hill that night) we had no glitches. Everything was great. We even had a couple of sunny days. We all went to the horse place on Tuesday and had a wonderful ride on the beach. I think we found over 150 sand dollars, the kids were ecstatic. I hope we get to use it again some day. Dear Jacquie and Paul, Once again: Thank You so very much for making you wonderful house available for us to enjoy! Even though it rained and rained and rained, we had a fantastic time! Some of the Sisters managed to get a hike in; they got dropped of by Hunter Creek trail head and walk back to the house - they said it was very pretty and nice; timed it right with low tide. Five of the Sisters also enjoyed a beach horseback ride with Rust and Ed, from Hawks Rest Ranch - I think that will be something that appears again, on next years wish list for things to do at the beach. Some of us enjoyed a good meal at the Crazy Norweigian. So, as you can tell - we did not suffer. We are now back home and back to our regular schedule of sewing and painting Icons and caring for our goats and other critters; but we will continue to benefit from the very nice relaxing days at Pistol River Beach House. We have been staying on the Oregon Coast for the past 17 years and this is the best rental home we have ever had! The things we look for in a rental home is - is the home clean, is there enough room for 8 people to eat dinner, is there a good TV with DVD and room for everyone to sit comfortably! Yes to everything! I can't find the words to describe how nice this home really is - and how accomodateing the owners were - to be able to find a home that will allow dogs and that is also clean is not easy. I would not hesistate in recommending this home. The views were tremendous and the beach access was so easy. Better than staying right on the beach because you have a better view and no sand in the house! The kitchen set up is great - lots of room for everyone and quality kitchen ware! The best meal we had was at the Port Hole Cafe - great chowder and the owner of Woof's is super nice! We did a jet boat trip with Jerry's and had a wonderful time. I have to say something negative so the only thing is that it is too far from our house to be able to go every year! I wish I could pick this house up and move it to our next week long vacation! The owners could give lessons on how to have a rental home - some people just don't take care of things the way they do and it made for a wonderful vacation! Thank you very much!

My little grandson, Ethan, wanted to go back to our "new house" this afternoon. He didn't realize that it wasn't ours. He loved it. Paul & Jacquie: Wow! Your house is amazing. I am not sure how you ever leave to go to Arizona! I have to tell you that some of our family rented the Estate that is further up the road. Not sure if you guys have seen it yet but it is pretty incredible...honestly, we were much happier in your home. It really felt almost like we were staying with friends! We will definatley be back. Now that I am home and things are settling back into I want to look into your horse therapy. You will hear from me again in that regard. I hope the house was in satisfactory condition when we left. We weren't sure what to do with the garbage. The light over the dinning room table is either burnt out or we just never could figure out how to turn it on...otherwise, everything was perfect. We have decided it would be just as nice to stay in the winter and experience the views then as well...we did get perfect weather as well as wind and rain and it was all great in your home! What a wonderful place! And a welcome escape from the 100+ degree Texas sun. The tide pools are magnificent. We recommend the Cape Sebastian walk for those even with 4-10 year old boys and others. We also recommend Old Growth Trail- take the self guided brochure. Secret Beach in Boardman State Park is also amazing but the way down to the beach is a bit treacherous for little ones. Dear Paul and Jacquie...we just got back to Eugene today from a WONDERFUL five days at your beautiful home. Thank you so much! We celebrated Father's Day, my parents' 45th anniversary (they got the master bedroom!), and my niece's 6th birthday. The weather was great (if a bit windy), the scenery was amazing, the kitchen was wonderful for cooking great food, and we even got to experience a -2 tide this morning. The tidepools were so cool...especially for my land-locked Indiana relatives who had never really seen starfish! We also found tons of sand-dollars. We certainly did not need them all...so my brother took some to one of the pull-outs just up the road and left them on the wooden railposts for folks who couldn't make the trek to the beach. Your home is beautiful, homey and wonderful! Our annual “Family Week” was made extra special by the spectacular surroundings. We all thoroughly enjoyed exploring the tide pools at low tide. Several of us found our first ever sand dollars in what we dubbed “Sand Dollar Alley”. A few of us flew kites for the very first time. Two of us hiked the Oregon Coastal Trail from Arch Rock to Whaleshead Beach. And we all spent many enjoyable hours marveling at the spectacular view – the waves, the rocks, the trees, the hawks. Dear Mr and Mrs Braly,We came home yesterday from yet another absolutely fantastic trip to the beach and your house...words are not sufficient to describe what this means to all of us. All the nuns and the dogs had a wonderful time and the weather could not have been better - like summer! support ourselves...so we make priests vestments and paint Icons that we sell through our websit and we have quite a few orders to full fill right now; so such a nice retreat was something we all needed to recharge our batteries. We are also in the middle of a building project; building a new laundry room and some office space + a couple of new cells (nuns bedrooms) - we do all building on our own. Our dreams are already bringing us back to Meyers Creek though - we hope that your house will still be available for another stay next year?!? We are playing around with a week in the end of January 2010...I hope that all is well in Arizona?!?Thank You so very much again for your kindness in making your house available to us!!!!Again, Thank you for making this stay possible for us! Christmas! What a magnificent home! We have sooo enjoyed Christmas here. We have had so much fun sitting in this beautiful kitchen playing games, visiting, looking out over this awesome view. We found the last Christmas tree in town, decorated stockings and placed the tree proudly next to the window. We spent ½ of our time walking the beach - it has been raining most of the time but that didn’t stop us. The dog loved it too! The other ½ was in the Jacuzzi, and trips into town. This house has everything a family could need while on vacation. We have been here for 9 luxurious days, and have loved every minute of it. Ten family members! We have really enjoyed drinking our coffee in the mornings looking out at this beautiful ocean. Thank you so much for opening your home to us. Dear Paul and Jacquie, Well we are all home again from our wonderful Thanksgiving vacation. I just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your home. Cooking a big feast in that kitchen was so dreamy, everything we needed was there within easy reach and room for 3 cooks at once, I am so envious. The homey atmosphere with all the games made it seem like we were all kids back at Grandma's place, but with a much better view! The weather was not sunny, but watching the storms move through the beach was spectacular. By far our favorite spot of congregate was the dining room table, we had a great time playing games and relaxing together. The kitchen was a dream for preparing our meals, we prefered eating in to going out for our meals. I did not stay in your master suite, but I did go in, it is simply beautiful. Dear Paul and Jacquie, Morris and I arrived home yesterday. We had a fabulous time. Your house is fantastic! I am not one to lounge in bed but I must tell you it was a challenge to get up in the mornings.I could have lain in the bed(so comfortable) and watched the ocean. I did sit in the chair every morning to say prayers and meditate(I am a spiritual director) it was a blessed time. The second week our children and their spouses came and we had a wonderful joyous time together. I am sure we will return one day. Our daughter Claire was curious about your horses, she is a sports massage therapist for horses. She and her husband live in Portland. Your beautiful home with stunning white cap ocean views was home for my 2 east coast brothers and my families' reunion Thanksgiving 2007. Our diversified family were all thrilled. The views alone are sufficient, but to have direct beach access with our horses was beyond my dreams. Cousins reunited after 20 years had a blast with shuffleboard and ping pong, beachcombing and more. And oh my, were we blessed with the weather! We sure did enjoy spending time at your beach house ! Randy thought it was a great 65th birthday present !! Our weather had a bit of everything....the snow was beautiful. I said when I grow up I want my house to look just like this. We love your decorations and your kitchen is beautiful. Love the pretty tiles in the master bathroom…….. Thanks again, our only complaint is we didn't stay long enough.Randy & Elizabeth

Your beautiful home with stunning white cap ocean views was home for my 2 east coast brothers and my families' reunion Thanksgiving 2007. Our diversified family were all thrilled. The views alone are sufficient, but to have direct beach access with our horses was beyond my dreams. Cousins reunited after 20 years had a blast with shuffleboard and ping pong, beachcombing and more. And oh my, were we blessed with the weather!
