Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2003
We are two friends who bought this cabin because we love Tahoe. There is no better place to spend time with family and friends.
Why the Owner Chose Agate Bay
Out of all the shores in Tahoe, we think North Shore is the most beautiful area of Lake Tahoe. We love the family friendly, nature loving, relaxed atmosphere of North Lake Tahoe. Everything is conveniently located - hiking, biking, resorts, shopping and casinos are a short drive away. We have the best of both worlds - our cabin still has the forest, mountain feel but is close enough to all fun amenities.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
Many of our customers describe our cabin as their home away from home. The layout promotes close comfort with friends and family. In the winter, the wood burning, stone fireplace is the heart of the house that everyone loves gathering around. During the summer, we basically live out on the deck and do all the cooking on our stainless gas grill.

We've been having our annual family reunion in this lovely cabin for the last 5 years. The great thing about Tahoe is that there's something for everyone. We start our day together with breakfast, and during the day, we all do our own thing. The teenagers like to hang out at the beach while others go hiking or biking. We all come home (I consider this our home away from home) in the evenings. We BBQ almost every night. I can't ask for a better location or value. Cabin is clean, cozy and comfortable. Perfect place for the family to reconnect. Check in and check out is a breeze.

Thank you for sharing your home with us. Your cabin was a perfect place for young families on a budget. This was our first time renting a vacation rental, and the average daily cost turned out to be cheaper than a nice hotel. The reservation and check in process was super easy. The kitchen was just the right size and allowed us to cook at home instead of eating out all the time. The kids had a great time playing in the snow and building snowmen by the side of the house. The supermarket and resorts are close by. I couldn't ask for a better location. We will definitely consider your home again next time we visit Tahoe.

Overall the stay was great, but its when we left is when i had the most trouble. The owner claims that my group broke items in her house and left a huge mess for the "house keeper" to clean. She claims we broke her stereo, ripped her towels left garbage on the outside of house, left a cigarette burn in her pillow, left to big a mess for the house keeper to clean, and charged me extra for the her to come back because she left as we WERE LEAVING because she had to take her son to school. Everything the claimed was absolutley FALSE. First the garbage on the outside of the house was there when we came in, which consisted of beer cans, and plastic cups that were burried in the snow, which we found while trying to clear the porch. Second no one touched the stereo because we had brought our own for our ipods which your current stereo had no AUX for.. Third I dont know how we could possibly rip your towels since we washed them everyday and folded them away and uh have you ever tried to rip a towel? Maybe because it was extremely worn out? Fourth...What excessive mess?? every bed was made except for the upstairs. All counters were wiped down and dishes washed, if not in the dish washer. I'm sorry I didnt know that leaving a bed unmaid was too much work for your house keeper or else i would have doone that too. My group was leaving as the house keeper came to the door. We told her we were leaving and she could start cleaning.(Even though we pretty much cleaned for her) instead of cleaning she left. Which left me in wondering. Come to find out she went to taker her son to school, and so I was charged extra because she had to come back the next day. WOW! I paid to have the house keeper clean so I didnt have too which I ended up doing anyways, then was falsly accused of things no one in my group had done and she decided to take my deposit to cover these "cost" because her house keeper decided to run errands instead of doing her job (cleaning). If you go here make sure you take pictures of what the cabin looked like BEFORE and AFTER your stay because, YOU WILL NEED THE EVIDENCE. Almost forgot no one in my group smokes so the cigaratte burn which was there when we got there was from someone else. However the maid would have known this if she actually cleaned instead of coming to clean a house knowing that she has errands to run, instead of doing her job (its called time managment), otherwise the stay was nice but so much drama after never will I go again.

My cousin and I had a lovely time in Lake tahoe. Your nice cabin made our visit even more enjoyable. The cabin was clean and comfy and in a nice area. It was located close to all the spots one would need to go. The beds were clean and comfortable as well as the bathrooms and shower. Although there was just the two of us... there would be plenty of room for a large group. Thank you, we will return. Kari

We rented the cabin as 2 families of four and it couldn't have been better. Our family with infants/toddlers shared the master bedroom complete with King bed and double pullout couch/futon. The other parents had the downstairs double bedroom while their 6/8 year olds had their own bedroom, with another bathroom for the four of them. It was a perfect arrangement.. with enough space and privacy. The communal area was clean and pleasant and cosy, with all amenities working properly (washer/dryer, dishwasher, heating etc). The kids aged from 2 to 8 all loved it, and there were no issues with hygiene or other safety hazards, which might be reassuring to parents of young children considering this place. The location was wonderful too, nestled in the trees among similar houses just moments from the lake, 3 minutes drive from Safeway and other retail and dining, and about 20 minutes drive from NorthStar. We arrived during heavy snow after a week of storms, and the roads , driveway, and steps/deck were all properly cleared and accessible. I can’t imagine finding anything this good for anywhere near the price.

My friends and I love this place. The 1st time we stayed here was last summer. Everything was clean when we came and the cabin had everything we needed including sleeping room and all of the supplies in the kitchen and bathrooms. Felt just like a home away from home to be honest. The last time we went was last weekend for a snowboarding trip. The cabin was set up just like the first time... PERFECT! If you are looking for a place that is AMAZINGLY priced and close to everything you could possible want to see or do in Lake Tahoe, you can not pass this place up.

This was my first time renting a cabin in Tahoe, and I was not disappointed! This cabin is so cute and charming with all the little personal touches. Our family instantly felt at home. My husband loved bbq-ing on the deck. We spent our evenings in front of the fire playing games and watching movies late into the night. I couldn't ask for a better location. It's so close to the resorts and shopping - everything is so convenient. My only regret is that we did not stay longer. I will definitely be sending my friends your way.
