Directly in front of you lies a spacious patio and grassy are with table and chairs and lounge chairs, a large hot tub, gas barbecue, a small sandy "beach" area with a fire pit, to enjoy cocktails and the breathtaking views of the sunset - and, of course, miles and miles of deep blue ocean where we often see migrating whales, playful pods of dolphins, and adventurous surfers.
Three blocks or so to your left you'll find Sunset Cliffs Nature Park - a great place to spend the day exploring cliffs, caves, and tide pools!
Six blocks to your right is the casual seaside town of Ocean Beach. Stroll along Newport Avenue and take in the array of small shops and boutiques. From antiques to surfboards, sandwich shops to ocean-front fine dining - and bars and taverns in between - Ocean Beach is friendly, informal and fun. A great Farmer's Market on Wednesdays. In the evening, enjoy cocktails while listening to the surf, or take a romantic stroll on the famous Ocean Beach pier, and enjoy the lights of San Diego from the over-water restaurant. We stayed here for a family gathering July 2011. The property was great, the location could not have been better. Comfortable, clean, in a friendly neighborhood. We will back next July~

This cozy cottage was perfect for the two of us. With its one queen bedded room and downstairs two twin bedded room, I could see this cottage housing perhaps a couple and two children. Everything was spotless and we could hardly think of anything that was not provided. The washer and dryer in the basement were a great bonus. There was also a nice outdoor shower. The better than we expected Cooks Brook Beach was about a fifteen minute walk or three minute drive away. We also had a lot of privacy here, which is very important to us. What's most attractive about this cottage is its proximity to Route 6, Wellfleet and the Cape Cod National Seashore. Some of our favorite restaurants in Massachusetts are in Wellfleet, including Winslow's Tavern, The Juice and the amazing PB Boulangerie, a little touch of France on Cape cod, with pastries and fresh baked breads and croissants to die for. One observation I made about the cottage is that it appears to be an all season one, so those considering a little escape for Thanksgiving, Christmas or other times in the cooler months would do well to consider it then too.

Even though the weather did not co-operate for our week on the cape, we still thoroughly enjoyed this rental. It is very clean and well stocked. Everything we needed was there and the owners checked half way through the week to provide anything that had run out. The location is excellent with a beach within strolling distance. Having laundry facilities there was a huge plus. We will rent this cottage again.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, families with teenagers.

We stayed at Villa Caribe for a couple of nights in the summer 2010. While the property itself is well-maintained and clean, it was missing a few key things: the most important being a comfortable bed. The king bed in the bedroom (1 bedroom unit) and the sofa bed in the living room were so uncomfortable! No one got a good night of sleep while we were there. Another key aspect was the parking issue. We had to drive around the side streets looking for a place to park. I am not too familiar with Ocean Beach but it seems like some areas look a little shady and I wasn't thrilled about parking around the area. Also, anther negative was that there wasn't any beach access from the rental, as advertised. Yes, it offers a beautiful view of the ocean, but you couldn't see it from our unit (all of our views in our unit were of walls or the garbage area). You have to go out into the communal area (that all units share) to enjoy the view. That means sharing all of the amenities like the hot tub, firepit and lounge chairs (which can get a little difficult with a few units sharing this small area). Just seems more like a hotel than your own private vacation get-away. One more issue was that the check out time is ridiculous!! 10 AM! How is that possible? So with all of that said, the place really was well-kept and nice. The kitchen was fully stocked (would be nice to have a little table in that empty space), the towels were fluffy and newer. The furnishings were tasteful and the unit had everything we needed. So with all of the negatives and positives I'd have to say that this place was average. For the cost though (with the tax and cleaning fee - this was a lot of money) I will find another place to stay next time.
Owner response:Villa Caribe has been a favorite of vacation renters for over 5 years now and any complaints we receive are few and far between. We often offer deep discounts, such as a recent July booking at 40% off! But regardless of discounts, we always advise our guests of any issues that may be of concern to them, e.g. some units offer excellent ocean views, some offer peek views; some come with garage parking, some - discounted stays, do not include parking. Our property has unmatched sunset and ocean views, but not direct beach access - which we advise all potential guests. As some amenities (BBQ, beach chairs, hot tub, fire pit, etc.) are shared, we always advise our guests of the fact others are also staying at Villa Caribe. Our check out time, 10 a.m., is standard in the vacation rental industry and we often allow early check in or late check out if no other guests are coming that day. We strongly believe it's not what happens (because we all know stuff happens), but how we respond to it that counts. If we receive complaints after a guest has departed, we aren't given the opportunity to "make it right." But if we receive a complaint about something that we have advised our guests about prior to their booking (no garage parking, peek view from your rental), then there's not a lot we can do! Come stay at Villa Caribe, sleep on our soft/plush beds (unless you prefer hard beds, then we can't help you!) and enjoy the quaint, seaside town of Ocean Beach - but only if you prefer friendly, laid-back people!
Recommended for:Pet owners, age 55+.

We stayed here in early May for my birthday and it couldn't have been more perfect. The sounds of the ocean and the nice breeze coming in. We drove in followed the direction put in our codes. We had a garage and then THE MOST PERFECT Condo we could of ask for. We had the place to ourselves. We watched the surfers and the sailboats all right from our window. Then we enjoyed sitting out on the beautiful patio. I have told everyone about how wonderful this place is. It sure beats and expensive hotel with all the tourist. It is a great place, close to ocean beach and Howdad's hamburgers. The perfect relaxing get away. Thanks for the best birthday ever. We lost the website to find you and have wanted to come back. I am so glad I found you. We will be back.
