If a home with Provençal style and flair in the heart of a picturesque village is what you are looking for, search no more! This 19th-Century house is tucked away off a quiet leafy lane in Maillane. The village bakery, cafés and grocery are just steps away. And right down the road is St-Rémy-de-Provence, a celebrated town with its old Roman monuments, restaurants, cafés, and a bustling weekly open-air market.
The house sports a sunny yellow facade with sea green shutters. Outside there is a stone-tiled courtyard with a small swimming pool and an arbored dining area. The courtyard has pretty flower pots and plenty of outdoor lounging and dining furniture. Inside, the three-story house has been well renovated and features ceramic tile and hardwood floors, beamed ceilings, exposed stone and pastel walls. The handsome decor includes a combination of casual contemporary furnishings and French country antique pieces.
Entry is into the living room with seating by the stone fireplace. A colorful rug, bookshelves, exposed stone and beam work accent this inviting room. Adjacent is the family room, complete with big-screen plasma tv and DVD player, a fully-stocked DVD library, and comfortable seating.
The dining area with dramatic French bay windows onto the courtyard, is off the family room. In the center is a rectangular wood table and dining chairs for eight people.
The new kitchen open kitchen is behind the dining area, with a bar counter and bar stools separating the two areas. The kitchen is equipped with all appliances, and warm wooden countertops and cabinets.
Stairs lead to the second and third floors where there are four bedrooms. All of the bedrooms are decorated with pretty bedcovers and accent pillows and have retained traditional architectural features. On the second floor are a bedroom with a queen bed and another with a double bed. A bedroom with twin beds and one with two double beds are on the third floor.
The house has three bathrooms and two separate toilets. On the ground floor, there is a toilet and a separate bathroom with a large shower and toilet. On the second floor, there is a toilet, as well as a bathroom with a tub and a bathroom with a shower.
A house with great Provençal atmosphere in a highly central location is perfect for day trips throughout the region.
