Location: Anghiari, Tuscany, Italy, Europe (Rome 2.5 hours, Florence 1.5 hours)

Accommodations:  House, 5 Bedrooms, 2.5+ Baths (Sleeps 10)

Attractive restored farmhouse in Casa Colonica style, built on several levels, on a prominent hill overlooking rustic valley. Features date back to the 14th century; renovated kitchen on lowest level. Terraced landscape with olive and fig trees and grapevine over patio. Private pool with splendid views of valley. Exposed wood beams give the interior a warm and friendly atmosphere.

The upper ground floor enters into a large sitting room with fireplace. To one side is a hallway to a bedroom and beyond to a second small sitting room, doors to garden, and a second small kitchen with refrigerator, stove and sink; and stairs up to two more bedrooms and a full bathroom. Straight ahead, steps lead down to two bedrooms and a full bathroom; and to a stairway down to the lower ground floor with a laundry room, shower/water closet and steps down to the main kitchen and a dining/living room with original manger feature and French windows to the patio (steps between rooms and levels make this unsuitable for small children or the elderly).

It is secluded, reached by a rough track through farm fields and woods, but only two kilometers away from shops in Le Ville. Monterchi, where one can see Piero della Francesca’s "The Madonna del Parto," is only seven kilometers further. The charming walled cities of Sansepolcro and Città di Castello, with full facilities and numerous restaurants, are only ten to fifteen minutes away.

The house is also centrally located for numerous daytrips. Arezzo, with its wealth of museums, galleries and churches, the largest antique market in the country, as well as a fine array of narrow streets full of fascinating shops, is only twenty minutes to the west. Cortona, with magnificent views from its hilltop ramparts extending for miles across the Tuscan countryside, is a half hour to the southwest. Further west are Siena and the Chianti area. To the northwest lies Florence, reachable by car or by train from Arezzo. A short distance to the north is Caprese Michelangelo (birthplace of the world’s most renowned artist). To the east one can quickly be in Perugia or Assisi, with its fantastic cathedral, commanding fortress walls and the nearby refuge of St. Francis. Further to the east lies Gubbio with Roman amphitheater ruins and a cable car from the medieval city center to the top of the mountain dominating the surrounding countryside.
