  We loved this place so much last year we came back. Love the new love seat and chairs in the living room! Can't say enough good things about this place. If you want a quiet place away from the resort area, with fantastic views you found it here. House is older but very comfortable. Kitchen is well equipped for cooking great meals. The deck...ahh the deck and the view. The house was clean and the owner was easy to work with. When ever I am asked where we stay I say," oh this wonderful little house right on the water".Thank you for sharing your home with us. I am already trying to figure out when we can come back.

  Everything about this home was stellar! The lanai, kitchen amenities, ocean views and location made for a wonderful 9 night respite from rainy no. California. Would definitely stay here again.

  Loved having the ocean in the backyard! We snorkled from the house many times seeing all kinds of fish. It was a great jumping point to see the island; we could go South or North easily or just hang out. It definately slowed us down and made us relax! Great kitchen and bath. Lanai was the best we found ourselves out there in the mornings for the sunrise almost every morning! They had more ammenities than we thought! Like a hair dryer and cooking spices! Bonus! So hospitable, thank you again. You have a wonderful place!

  Just returned from an 11 day stay here with my 18 year old daughter and her best friend. The house is exactly as described. It is like you have borrowed a friends beach house. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your needs...and the views from the lanai are just...perfect. Dealing with the owner is easy. This is a much better alternative to staying in an overcrowded resort condo! I will be back!!!!

  Clean, comfortable, well located, although we do not consider an outdoor shower a second bathroom. Lanai was wonderful to read, relax and watch the seals.

  This has to be the best value on Kauai. The house is 30 feet from the water. While there is only a sea wall and no beach in front of the house there is beach just steps away on either side. When you look out the patio door all you see is ocean. At night you can hear the ocean waves breaking on the reef. The week we stayed, a major storm system came through, 38 inches of rain. We never developed cabin fever. Even though the area north of us had road closures and major flooding we had no issues accessing Kapaa or the southern and western part of the island. The house is located in a quite neighborhood approximately 1 mile off the main road. My wife is picky about linen and she liked the towels. They also supply beach towels. There wasn’t a cooler or beach chairs. As a previous reviewer stated this place is not fancy but very comfortable. This house is like being at a lake cottage or a mountain cabin. Open the windows and there is always an ocean breeze flowing through. If the is a negative it’s that the beds are on the hard side. There is no dish washer but the kitchen has every thing else. Dealing with the owners was very easy. I give this house my highest recommendation. I just hope it’s available the next time we visit Kauai.

  I am sitting on the deck of this house right now. The whales have been amazing today. This is an older house, not fancy but has ieverything you need. The view is amazing, yes it is right on the beach! We will plan our next vacation around when the house is available . Love it, but don't tell anyone else about it so we can rent it again.

  We loved staying here. You can see humpback whales right out front the house, there is everything you need, all the blankets, pillows you can imagine, ocean breeze all night and day, gorgeous and close to town but far enough away so you feel like it is your own paradise, GO...STAY HERE, YOU WILL LOVE IT!

  3 of us spent 9 days at this cottage in October 2011. It was a wonderful experience - what you see is what you get!!!! It was smack dab on the ocean and you could open windows and sliding glass door, unlike another VRBO at which we stayed in May 2011. We had delightful breezes off the ocean, the house was very clean, and it was extremely affordable. The owners were native Hawaiian, very pleasant to deal with, and extremely accomodating. If we ever go back to Kaua'i, we would absolutely stay here again.

  We stayed at Hale Kai in June of 2011 and were absolutely enchanted with the place. If you are looking for a real beach house where the surf lulls you to sleep at night and you can have your morning coffee on the huge front porch with an uninterrupted view of the ocean this is the place for you. The kitchen is COMPLETELY furnished and all the beach toys and a cooler are there for your use. Maybe we were lucky, but there was even charcoal for the barbeque. We loved the private outdoor shower and the covered area for hanging up your beach gear to dry. This is not a luxury condo but your own temporary home on a beautiful bay seldom visited by anyone not staying in one of the few houses located nearby. It is basic but clean and very comfortable. You can hear the stories and laughter from the walls of all those who have relaxed and enjoyed their time here in the past. It is also very conveniently located for exploring the north and east coasts of Kauai. If we ever go back to Kauai, we will be staying here again.
