This brand new cabin in the High Sierras combines fine craftsmanship and tradition with top modern comforts to create the perfect venue for a mountain vacation, whether for winter sports enthusiasts or summer outdoors lovers. Built entirely of pine, with maple floors and a huge vaulted ceiling in the great room, the cabin is at once both spacious and homey.
You'll find comfy sofas and armchairs around the traditional stone fireplace for easy lounging after a day's adventures. There's also a flat-screened TV with satellite hook-up plus the latest in Bose stereo equipment both inside the house and outside for the hot tub on the deck. The great room, with its huge windows and wrap-around deck, overlooks the Stanislaus National Forest and Dardinelles mountain range.
The kitchen with its mod cons, beautiful oak hand-fitted cabinetry and granite counter tops, is open to the great room and its lounging and dining areas, and is a pleasure to be in, from making a quick snack to full gourmet dinner. The antique dining table seats ten comfortably.
The master bedroom with its king size bed and en-suite bathroom with bath and shower is on the 2nd floor. Running the width of the cabin, it's a huge room with plenty of clothes storage space, plus a desk and lamp for easy lap-top hook-up. Bunk beds are found on the loft landing outside the master suite. Two further double bedrooms and their shared bathroom with shower are on the 1st floor. The sauna is found in the basement, which also has a laundry area with washer and dryer.
Finally, the cabin has a second entrance from the deck to a mudroom with plenty of storage for outside gear and equipment.
The cabin is one of only 20 houses in the Bear Valley area with drive-up winter access. It's situated just off Highway 4, the pass between Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. Although the Bear Valley area doesn't get the crowds of Tahoe and Yosemite, it has a huge variety of both summer and winter activities, from alpine and nordic ski-ing in winter to forest and lake pursuits and popular and classical music festivals in summer.
