If you go to this little quaint village outside of Puerto Vallarta called Sayulita, it's like you're going back into the 1920s. There's great surfing and great food and it's not pretentious at all. It's out of the way and they have great deals on hotel rooms there. They've managed to turn these homes into quaint hotels. It's literally right on the beach and the beach looks like a movie set because of the way the waves roll in. It's like a congregation of surfers from all over the world because it breaks so easy there. The fish tacos are delicious and the people who catch the fish filet it and cook it for you right there on the beach.

Year Purchased: 1996
We blended Gregorio's Mexican heritage with Cecile's years of cross-cultural involvement personally and professionally. We had already built a small business in US when our imaginations were captured by Sayulita during one of our trips. We bought the house two days later. With Gregorio's experience in the trades and Cecile's with art, literature and design, after we had the small house for a few years, we started drawing and planning and visioning till we broke ground in 2002. The new house slowly grew organically, one floor at a time, somewhat in tandem with the discernible growth of the town.
Why the Owner Chose Sayulita
Sayulita's magic spirited us into buying our small Eijido home by the sea as a place to dream and create. That was in 1996 when the local population was 400, there were few gringos and there were a couple of restaurants and no cobble stoned streets. The town mushroomed as our needs changed till we broke ground to replace our old house in 2002. We began with the idea of a single house, but were so inspired with the process and prospect of retirement that we added the Villa and later the Penthouse, finishing in 2005.

Now in a house that exceeded our visions, we still dream, but we also celebrate the joy of so many guests discovering and loving Sayulita. The sea and air and tropical flowers and birds all allure and slow our pace. The community we share is rich with supportive energy, friendship and a civic spirit.
