La Torre dell’Artista
New for 2008! The garden now has a hot tub and outdoor shower with a magnificent yet private view of Spoleto and a completely repaved/widened entry road.
Living room with fireplace and spectacular views. Newly rennovated eat-in kitchen with fireplace. Master bedroom with en-suite bath. Sleeping loft with two single beds. Second bath with ante-bath and dressing room. Shaded dining porch. Shaded car park. Garden and olive grove.
This lovingly restored artist’s home is located in a ‘sacred grove’ on the hillside of Monteluco, which has a wooded nature preserve facing Spoleto. The stunning farmhouse tower sits tranquilly amid olive groves and is within a stone’s throw of hiking paths that wind up through a forest renowned since ancient Roman times. The paths lead past historic hermitages and Franciscan retreats and up to spectacular views of the Umbrian valley and surrounding foothills of the Apennines.
From the ground floor entrance via the covered parking area, there is a generous outdoor dining area with windows looking in to the kitchen—convenient for passing food and drinks out to the vine-shaded table. Through the main door is a spacious living room filled with book-lined shelves and an excep
tional collection of original artworks by noted artists. While the two windows open onto expansive views of Spoleto and nearby landscapes, the lovely fireplace creates a cozy focal point in the room.
Adjacent to the living room is the farmhouse-style kitchen with an original functioning pizza oven, modern appliances and a large wooden table, seating eight to 10. At one end of the table there is another generous fireplace, ideal for grilling, etc. Beyond is the second bath with washing machine, an ante-bath and dressing room.
The master bedroom with connecting bathroom on the lower level opens onto a quiet and completely private willow-shaded terrace with a magnificent view of the valley below—a perfect place to take your morning coffee and favorite book. From there one can access a stone staircase leading off the property and into the woods towards both the path to the center of town and hiking trails up the mountain.
Above the living room is a sleeping loft with two single beds, plenty of extra space. It is quite private from the living room below.
This independent house offers exceptional convenience to all the cultural offerings of Spoleto and the rest of Umbria while remaining immersed in nature. It’s only one and a half hours from Rome by train or car. Summer cultural offerings include the Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto and the world-class Umbria Jazz in Perugia.
