The Orange Lake and River are right outside your front door with 300 feet of waterfront access. From the living room in cottage, you will look southerly toward Orange Lake and easterly down the River. Whether you choose to visit Rivendel Rentals in the winter, spring, summer, or fall, on your arrival you get a feeling of timelessness that allows your stress to melt away in your very own private getaway. Relax, kick back and enjoy the clean air, no crowds or traffic jams to struggle through. The property is great for writers, honeymooners, or anyone who wants to momentarily forget the hustle and bustle of city life. Go for quiet walks and enjoy nature, water and the serenity of Maine.
There are also plenty of activities for the sports enthusiasts. You will want to come back to this all-season ideal location year after year. In the winter you can enjoy cross-country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling, and sledding. Sit back and relax by the fire after you have spent the day outdoors. Spring brings nature to life with the beautiful flowers and excelent bird watching and antique shopping.
When summer arrives you can participate in the many festivals, water sports, fresh lobster and outdoor dining. Autumn displays hardwood trees that are stunning and made even more glorious by the backdrop of the brightest red maples at Orange Lake.
The cottage is cozy yet spacious with an open floor plan, spiral staircase to loft, cathedral ceilings with ceiling fans, expansive windows that allow you to view the water from all areas; kitchen, bedroom and loft. 900 square feet of spacious living space has been decorated with your comfort in mind. A beautiful fireplace and low lighting are there to set the mood for those romantic moments.
The spectacular kitchen with unbelievable amount of cabinet space, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator with ice machine, water purification system and many other modern conveniences can accommodate the gourmet chef in you. At the end of the day indulge yourself in the jetted tub, turn on the heat lamp and relax.
For sleeping accommodations, the bedroom has an extremely comfortable full-size bed with mirrored bureau and mirrored vanity,600 thread count sheet sets with tranquility molded memory foam pillows, cozy wicker reading chair or escape to the secluded skylighted loft for contemplation and if tired, a queen-size sofa bed is there to welcome you. Living room has a comfortable full-size sofa bed for additional sleeping needs.
A studio apartment also cozy yet spacious is 75 feet from the house and can be rented together or separate from cottage. It is located above an oversized double-car garage. It, too, is designed with an open floor plan and cathedral ceilings with ceiling fan. Equipped with an overstocked kitchen, spacious bathroom, and a large capacity washer & dryer.
900 square feet of spacious living area with never-ending closet space will make you feel right at home. Full-size bed nestled in the alcove and can be sectioned off by privacy screens from the rest of living area. Up to 600 thread count sheet sets and tranquility molded memory foam pillows add to your luxury. A comfortable full-size futon with 8" mattress is in main area, which will quickly convert to cover additional sleeping demands.
Both locations have a starting supply of toilet paper and paper towels, kitchen utensils, blender, toaster oven, hand mixer, coffee grinder and yes, lobster pots!; fresh towels, bed linens and much more.
No Smoking is allowed in either location.
The cottage and studio apartment can be rented together or separately, depending on availability.
Take a ride down the Orange River to discover five miles of pristine waterway. Pack a picnic lunch, for you will want to spend the day exploring and watching eagles, osprey, beavers, geese, many types of ducks, and Blue Heron.

Arrival: What a great beginning - the cottage, the water, the privacy & the fun that Bud & Sis (pets) will have. Sleep awaits/be back in a few days....Almost forgot to come back - we're packing up -- it's been a great week hiking at Mooseehorn Park & Quoddy Head (amazing views), swimming at Rouques Bluffs (peaceful beach)& enough lobster & steamers too last 'til next summer. Eastport - quaint & friendly - a very relaxing week indeed & Sis & Bud swam 'til their hearts were content. P.S.: We ate bass from the lake one night, fresh & delicious. Thanks for everything...

What a wonderful place! We had a great time out on the lake, river & hiking around. Oliver, the not-so-adventurous dog, suddenly became Oliver-the Adventure Pup! He loved the hikes, the ocean was fun-dodging waves but he's not sure about canoeing - will let you know. Thank you - this was just what we needed!

Dear Lucia, We enjoyed our stay in this marvelous cottage. The lake in the backyard is amazing. The view when you look into the lake is fantastic. It is like a mirror in the water. But the best thing about it is you can wake up go into the backyard and start fishing or swimming or whatever. This is certainly one of the best vacation homes we have ever been in.

Dear Lucia, We had a great week here in Maine. The cottage is lovely & very comfortable. This was the 1st time that my husband & I visited Maine and I'm very happy that we found you & the cottage on the internet. This is definitely the best way to explore a new place and relax. We rested, cooked on the grill and fished. I did lots of reading up in the loft. We think our boxer, Sammy, thinks that we are living up here for good! He has been running around here like he owns the place! Thanks again. It's been a memorable vacation.

What a beautiful apartment and lovely lake! We caught 2 brown trout and fried them for breakfast -- what a feast! We tucked ourselves away safe upstairs and fell asleep several nights listening to the wonderful sounds of rain through the trees! We awoke to robins singing. Amazingly, one evening a moose ran down the lane in front of our car, as we returned from dinner. We were squeeyling and so excited. We also watched a huge turtle digging up your road and flower bed -- trying to decide where to put her eggs! Thanks again for your hospitality and our lovely time.
