Perched on a cliff at the very top of “the highest incorporated town in Eastern America”, Dream View Chalet is truly a unique house in an equally unique setting. At 5,325 feet, Dream View Chalet is one of only a handful of houses at the very top of Beech Mountain and offers unparalleled mountain views and privacy. In fact, there are very few houses at this height located anywhere east of the Rocky Mountains. Upper and lower decks create lavish outdoor living spaces and offer more than a 180-degree unimpeded view of the sky, Grandfather Mountain, and Roan Mountain. The cliffs show their true splendor at night as dramatic outdoor landscape lighting shines on the mountain face and illuminates Dream View Chalet’s magnificent setting.
Dream View Chalet is an all-season vacation haven. In the winter, avid skiers will enjoy our proximity to Ski Beech, the highest ski area in Eastern North America. Dream View Chalet is within walking distance of the top of the ski run – just strap on your skis and ski down the mountain to Ski Beech located at the base. As the weather turns warmer, visitors are just a short walk from the Land of Oz, an otherworldly and now defunct theme park, which operated from 1970 to 1980. Mountainside trails are readily accessible directly from the house, leading to amazing rock formations and caves nearby. Picnic on a rock outcropping and take in the sun and clean air on a wonderful summer day.
Built in 1997, Dream View Chalet is a 3,500 square foot classic mountain lodge originally built of red cedar with a gambrel roof and paneled in knotty pine with oak floors throughout. Remodeled in 2007, two sides of the house have been replaced with waterproof concrete siding, new windows have been installed, and the interior has been extensively redecorated. Now, this luxury retreat can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests and features a private downstairs master bedroom suite, flat screen TVs, surround sound, continuous great room with fireplace, dining room, and complete kitchen. The upstairs master bedroom has unobstructed 270-degree views of the mountains and valley below and offers guests a private fireplace and a private bath with a claw foot tub. For added convenience, a lower level includes a two-car garage and storage area, as well as a place to keep skis and other equipment. |
