Windswept Villas condo description
This two story penthouse stands on the edge of a breathtaking, unspoiled beach, perfect for both a romantic getaway and fun for the whole family. Recent renovations include new granite countertops in the kitchen and living room, new flooring and carpeting as well as a fresh paint job throughout. In addition we have just completed renovating both bathrooms (including a new ocean front window in our upstairs master bath) as well as redoing our living room fireplace with beautiful natural stone and beautiful new furniture (arrived April 6th, 2013)
Because it is an end unit, the Condo is always full of light, and the glittering waters of the Atlantic are visible from almost every room. That includes the upstairs master bedroom suite and its adjoining private lounge area. Downstairs is the second bedroom with a queen sized bed as well as the second full bathroom. In the fully equipped kitchen you can serve up a meal to be enjoyed in a dining area with magnificent ocean views. The Windswept condominiums are a beautifully landscaped and maintained area. They are within walking distance of the idyllic Night Heron Park and the brand new luxury Sanctuary Hotel.
But let's get right to the point: you've come for the beach, and oh what a beach it is! Most vacation destinations boast about being within walking distance of the water, but here at Windswept you can practically dive off our small covered porch into the waves (no, really, don't do that... you'll get a mouth full of sand). But seriously, a pristine white sandy beach is mere yards from your doorway.
Once you come through the security gate and enter exclusive Kiawah Island you'll be struck by the natural beauty and abundance of wildlife. Winding bike paths, serene lagoons, lush golf courses (including five world-class championship courses), and the number one rated tennis resort in the United States, Kiawah beckons travelers from all over who appreciate an elite vacationing atmosphere. Throw in sumptuous dining that is a testament to cream of the crop Southern cuisine, and you have a premier locale just waiting to be explored.

Unit was very nice; a few unexpected things: no closet in Master Bedroom (an armoir was provided), outside porch was very small, confusion re the availability of wireless internet - it exists, but local agency (Beachwalker) had no knowledge so password was obtained from owner). Overall, we enjoyed the condo and had a very nice vacation.

Perfect Penthouse Rental
Perfect Penthouse Rental
We were thoroughly delighted with our rental experience. The penthouse condo's perfect location provided us with spectacular ocean views, one minute walks to the pristine beach and, when we wanted, easy access to Charleston's entertainment, sightseeing and dining. Looking more for some peace and quiet, we found the condo completely conducive to rest and relaxation. The condo's interior is bright and spotless with lovely, comfortable bedrooms, luxe baths, well-equipped kitchen, ample space/storage and Wi-fi access. The owners' desire to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable was very much in evidence. We will rent this penthouse condo again on our next visit to K.I.

The villa was very nice, well equipped and clean. We didn't cook so we didn't use the kitchen. The patio was ridiculously small you couldn't fit 2 people on it at the same time. There was constant maintenance on the building when we were there. We had to crawl over and around paint buckets, hoses and workmen. The front entrance was cluttered with band saws and building materials. The parking spaces in front of the building was full of trucks and worker's vehicles. I feel that we should have been warned, we would have picked another location had we known. It was not at all restful and and at times very intrusive.

Owner response: Well, I'm glad our guests liked our condo, however it is unfortunate that the building ambience was so poor. I wish they had contacted us as I'm sure we could have mitigated the situation. Construction is allowed during the off season, but there are very strict rules about how the work men are to conduct themselves. Unfortunately, to be enforced, sometimes requires a complaint and then a phone call.
Best KI visit ever
Best KI visit ever
We've been going to KI for 7 years and this was our best visit. We like being near the beach and this beautiful condo couldn't be any closer. It was well equipped and very comfortable. Unlike most places it was bright and sunny, most windows looking out at the beach and ocean. My husband has back problems and was very happy with the master bedroom suite and its excellent mattress. The condo was exceptionaslly quiet and private. Well maintained, it was obvious the owners take pride in this wonderful place. My only complaint--the ocean was cold--we'll be back in August to solve that problem

Location and view were excellent, as described, but the unit was a bit more "tired" than the pictures and description suggested. Bathrooms were very nice, but the rest of the unit was not the same quality. Living room furniture should be updated, and carpeting is very poorly laid. Housekeeping could also be improved. Walls were scuffed, and kitchen walls were not clean. We actually found a very stale loaf of bread in one of the kitchen drawers and a piece of fruit under the living room coffee table. During the time of our visit, a number of adjacent units were undergoing renovation, resulting in frequent noise and construction vehicles both blocking the entrance and occupying parking spaces which should have been available to renters. Owners did send us a very helpful guide to area amenities before our arrival. At the price paid, we would not recommend this property to a friend or relative until renovation is completed. We were delighted by the nearby Freshfields Village, which offered nearby access to stores and some great restaurants. (We particularly recommend the salmon melt sandwich at the King Street Grille.)

Owner response: I'm very sorry our guests were unhappy about their stay. On Kiawah Island construction is only allowed during the off season so during January and February there can be work going on. It has to happen sometime. Our condo is an end unit on the top floor and is usually immune from construction noise, but... Regarding the living room furniture, they're right it does need replacement. New furniture was ordered 4 weeks ago and will arrive the second week of April! Living far away from KI, we always appreciate comments from our renters so we can correct any deficiencies. We will certainly be in contact with our housekeeping people regarding the inadequate job they did previous to these folks arrival.
We had a wonderful time on Kiawah, and enjoyed our stay in this Windswept condo. The condo is exactly as the pictures depict. It was immaculately clean when we arrived, and is truly right on the beach--about a 1 minute walk outside and over the boardwalk. We brought and used our own beach chairs, but noticed 2 beach chairs, boogie boards, and bike helmets in the hall closet. The kitchen is well-equipped and has all you need for a vacation stay. Both bathrooms are beautiful, particularly the master bath. We loved the master bath shower--very luxurious and relaxing! The balcony is a bit small, but my husband and I ate outside every night and just held our plates. The beach is beautiful and not very crowded. The local rental agency was very easy to locate and deal with, and we had no problem renting bikes from Alligator Rentals. We enjoyed bike rides each day and really enjoyed exploring the island this way. It was an easy drive to Charleston from the condo, and we spent a day there, as well. We would definitely return to this condo and highly recommend it to others. It was excellent, and exactly as advertised.

Beautiful views, well-equipped unit!

Listing description was right on! Unit was clean and well-equipped. Appreciated having wi-fi. Location was perfect for time on the beach. We would definitely recommend to others. Good for families and adults. Would suggest a hook in master bath for hanging cosmetics case like the one in downstairs bath on door or wall. Loved the master bath shower and spaciousness of bath, as well as the double sinks.

We enjoyed our stay and got the rest and relaxation we needed. We were especially pleased that the kitchen was well equipped - better than many we've encountered. The furnishings were comfortable and in good condition. The CD/DVD player didn't work so we couldn't listen to music or watch movies but that wasn't a huge problem. We appreciated the excellent wireless internet service. The owner and the local managers were very helpful and made sure we had the information we needed. We wished the deck area was a bit larger - the four of us couldn't fit out there and there wasn't space for a table which would have allowed eating outside. We had a superb anniversary dinner in the dining room at the Ocean Course, enjoyed Luci's Red Sky Grill (as always) and saw a beautiful sunset as we had our first night's dinner at Reds. Alligator Bikes was great as always and we spent a lot of time biking. After the storms blew through, the beach was delightful as always. We expected to participate in some of the Piccolo Spoleto events, but never left the area!

Great Location, right on the beach, very comfortable. Lacking pool access, Our purpose was to get some r/ r and it was perfect for this. The location is great if one wants to go into Charleston to sight see. The best of both worlds! Biking on he bech is a real plus!
