Amazing. We enjoyed our week in your beautiful condo. Thank you for suggesting we order from Lahina produce. We were able to experience produce that we never would have known about. Your condo was stocked with everything we needed and more. We whale watched as the sun came up several mornings while we enjoyed our coffee, so glad you had binoculars for the show we got to see. New Year's provided us with a great view of all the firework shows on the opposite side of the bay while we celebrated with Hawaiian Pineapple champagne, You are centrally located to everything. The coolers made the road to Hana enjoyable since we could pack drinks, snacks and a picnic lunch. We felt like we had a private beach only a short walk away and we walked to our boat for our snorkeling adventure. We loved having access to a grill and easily sat six at your table for meals. No one wanted to go home when our vacation came to an end. Thank you for providing us with such a wonderful home for a week. We had six adults and never felt cramped. Michael & Susan Carlson

What a beautiful condo, and like what others have said the owners thought of EVERYTHING! I have never felt more at home while on vacation! The only down side to our time, was the wind! I am talking 60MPH the whole time we were there. And the funny thing, it was only while in the harbor. Other than that our stay was the best yet! We hope to return year after year! Thanks again for everything!

What a terrific get-away. The beach walk was beautiful. We spotted several rainbows and even a whale leaping one morning. Turtles swam in surf in front of the condo. Spinner dolphins leapt where we snorkeled. In all of my trips to Maui, I have never had so many wonderful sightings. We loved the accommodations, the quiet of this part of the island. This beautiful condo was very comfortable and so well stocked that it was like home away from home. They seemed to have thought of everything! There is even a boogie board for vacationers. It turns out that the condo is only a 15 minute walk from the Maui Ocean Center too! We loved walking through the glass tunnel in the shark tank there. The sea rays skimming past and hammer head sharks gliding overhead. Very memorable. We drove to amazing snorkeling just past Wailea, on the way to the lava flow fields. What a great adventure! We definitely would recommend this rental to friends. In fact, we hope to return again.

Our stay exceeded our expectations. The condo was tastefully decorated, immaculate, with a waterfront view (turtles watched us BBQ!), overlooking the pool, complete with elevator and laundry, and grounds so perfect we wondered if it was real! Lovely, lovely, lovely! The personal touches and notes from Carl and Michele made us feel extra welcome. We couldn't have asked for a better location to relax and explore Maui. We especially loved having great food nearby without the crowds. Some mornings we had the beach to ourselves. What a hidden delight, with the best-stocked vacation kitchen we've ever seen. Much of the items we thought we'd have to buy were already in the condo waiting for us. Too bad there isn't a choice beyond "excellent" because this place earned it.

The pictures of this condo do not do it justice - it is simply beautiful and what great views from the lanai! Ma'alaaea Harbor is a great place to stay being so centrally located. All within walking distance are very good restaurants, shopping, a market and entertainment. This was also a great location for going on snorkeling and whale watching tours. The Pacific Whale Foundation is an excellent choice if you want to go on any of these tours and they are within walking distance of this condo. Again, what a beautiful place to be and stay! The furnishing were great, the beds were very comfortable and the ammenities were outstanding! MAHALO ~ MAHALO ~ MAHALO
Owner response:We are so pleased that you enjoyed our condo. When the trade winds are blowing, be sure to watch the wind surfers on the North Shore do acrobatic stunts!

Mahalo for a most wonderful experience! This condo is furnished beautifully and has all the ammenities that you could ask for on vacation. The location is PERFECT being central on the island and the Ma'alaea Harbor has got to be one of the best locations on earth. (It IS a bit windy, but you hardly notice with all the breathtaking views and sunshine every day...) Our 2 week vacation in Maui was the best and we are so grateful to have had such a wonderful place to call home during our stay. MAHALO ~ MAHALO ~ MAHALO

My husband and I brought our daughter and her “papa and nana” to Maui and used your condo as our home base. It suited us well and put us at ease when we arrived: very clean and had everything we needed for our 10 days. It was very relaxing to sleep with all of the doors and windows open listening to the waves hit the shore. Maalaea is a great location – close to everything. Thank you very much for accommodating our family and 3 year old daughter.

Thank you for sharing your condo with us again. It was our second trip. The condo is very well equipped with more kitchen implements than I have at home. We also enjoyed the beach chairs, umbrella, coolers and boogie boards. We enjoyed the location --central to Kihei and Lahaina. And thanks for making arrangements for the fresh fruit and produce, that was a wonderful addition to our stay. Two teenagers especially appreciated the privacy of the second bedroom.

This beautiful condo in paradise was the best we have ever had in Maui. We've been there 7-8 times. The location was so great, the condo was very clean, and the Hawiian art so captavating. In fact, I want to change my livingroom decor to Hawaiian. The owner's provided such great customer service and were so nice to work with. The famous aquarium was within walking distance and several good restaurants also. The king size beds were very good and comfortable. A lot of condos for rent do not have such good beds. When we walked into the condo, it was even more elegant than the virtual tour on the website. We've already told friends and family about this wonderful condo. One of the most exciting things was to watch sea turtles feeding every evening from our Lani. That is such a special event for us. Oh, what a week, next time it will be longer. Mahalo for everything!!!

We’ve been here one week & wish we had another week. We’ve had a fantastic time. We started our trip seeing whales off the harbour while we had breakfast at Beach Bums – great place! Our highlight was the Blue Water Rafting trip to see the caves – dolphins. We saw tons of whales, plus a few dolphins, amazing sea turtles, great snorkeling – highly recommend this outfit. Many thanks! A great trip except for the wind. We’re heading home. PS: Thanks for your thoughtfulness in how well equipped this condo is!

Well, what do we say… Mahalo, Mahalo, Mahalo… just awesome! Our stay began with wedding festivities in the Kihei area ending at the Old Sugar Mill in Haiku. The owner has truly captured the essence of that place. We were totally amazed with its peaceful quaint nature. The bride & groom escaped while the rest of us enjoyed all the different aspects of the Maui Island - all divine: snorkeling, scuba, helicopter over rainforest, waterfalls, & dead on to Haleakala & Hana… Shall I go on… being part of a production crew we felt we were the PRODUCTION! Mahalo again, dear friends of the Island.

Thank you for the use of your condo. It was beautiful, well-stocked & very clean – loved the décor! Enjoyed Maui – found it very windy (especially when our snorkel tour to Molokini was cancelled!). Horseback at Mendes Ranch was awesome. Loved Makena & boogie boards at Napili. The Maui Ocean Center was the best! We definitely recommend the road to Hana. Though you do not have to go all the way. The condo itself was very clean, well stocked, and a great place for being older. The view was nice and I was able to watch whales from while laying in bed. I was very happy with the communication with the owners/staff. The location was definitely windy compared to other areas and not much for food/services nearby but that is no fault of the condo. If you want to stay in this area I highly recommend it but personally I would have preferred a different area of the island. The place itself would have gotten 5 stars but because of its location and nearby amenities and wind when we were there I can only give it 4.

My wife and I were not near as impressed with this rental as the other reviewers. The area is not as nicely landscaped as you will find elsewhere on Maui and the buildings are a bit dated. When we planned our trip, we had initially thought we would spend more time relaxing and staying near the condo since this was not our first time to Maui. But because we were not that impressed with the area (Maalaea) or the grounds around the complex, we ended up driving to other parts of the island. If we had to do it again, we would spend a little more money and rent a place in Wailea, Kaanapali or Kapalua. If you plan to spend most of your time being away from the condo or if you only plan to stay within the condo, then it is fine. The unit itself is fine. The positives are that it has a nice view, clean, comfortable sectional in the living room, nice seating area in the dining area, nice common grill and grill area and the building has an elevator. The negatives are that there is an order near the water (did not exist elsewhere on the island), master bedroom is too small and has an accordion style room divider as a door, master bedroom blinds do not provide enough privacy at night with the lights on, small hot water tank, no dead-bolt on the front door, uncomfortable seating on the lana’i (no padded chairs), mismatching dishes, dull cutting knives, no ice maker and too much furniture. Yes, we may be a bit picky and we had also just came from a very nice condo in a nice resort area on the Big Island which was much cheaper.
Owner response:Aloha! We pride ourselves on helping our guests have a great time. Not every condo will appeal to everyone, so make certain you pick a condo that's right for you. In response to this review, almost all of the oceanfront condos on Maui were built in the 60's and 70's. "Dated" or not, the Maalaea Kai complex is nevertheless meticulously maintained. The HOA has recently reroofed, painted, installed new elevators and solar heating to the swimming pool. The grounds are also meticulously maintained and gorgeous -- you can see for yourselves in the photos. The grass is like a golf-course and the flowers are beautiful and lush. It is not a resort though, so if that's what you want, go to a resort. Ours is a condominium complex which houses both vacationers and residents. For ourselves, we have never smelled the odor . . . it was likely peculiar to that week and we apologize for that. As for the location, again, different strokes for different folks. We love it that there are amenities and attractions close by, yet the condo is quiet and secluded -- away from the congestion and traffic noise of Kihei (most Kihei oceanfront condos have a road between you and the beach). Not only is there nothing between our condo and the ocean, there are plenty of restaurants and shops a 5-minute walk away, plus a world-class aquarium, a marina which is the start-point for tons of excursions, and a terrific mini-golf course with climbing wall and bungie trampoline. Plus we're centrally located within easy driving distance between Kihei and Lahaina, and only 15 minutes from the airport. We continue to improve our condo unit: we've added new dishes, new knives, a killer icemaker inside the freezer, plus we've eliminated and/or replaced some of the furniture in the MBR and LR/DR to create more living space. The lanai furniture is new; we don't use cushions as they tend to weather and hold dampness. As for the less expensive unit on the Big Island -- Hawaii IS less expensive than Maui; the drawback is, it's not Maui, and Maui is amazing! Of course, you can always spend more money to rent a place in the expensive areas but that's true of most things -- more money buys you more. We hold to our promise to provide our guests with the best value for the money. We want our guests to enjoy themselves and leave feeling refreshed, energized, and fully satisfied. Feb 24 – March 7, 2009: “ First, thank you! We had a wonderful vacation, in part due to your condo. It fit our family perfectly and we were more than comfortable. We loved the location, we could go to either side of the island quickly. All of the extras you have here were just like icing on the cake. We used the chair, boards, and cooler every day. My parents stayed next to this building and they had no extras, so they brought all the chairs, noodles and towels over to your condo ‘cause they thought you cared enough to care about the people you let stay here. All of the extras are so great. Thank you. My children loved seeing the whales every day. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you again. Mahalo. Alaska
