Wow! This place was amazing, we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. Anything else we see or place we stay will pale in comparison to this. The owners were very helpful and friendly. The grounds are amazing! Thanks for providing a memorable experience for our first trip to Maui.

Everything is so lovely, so beautifully crafted from all of the amazing wood to the thoughtful robes, Eco-friendly soaps and of course the views! I want to move in! There's a farm stand right next door where we bought excellent avocados. It's close enough to get to everything you want to do, but quietly away from the crowds. It would have been absolutely perfect, exceot that the water takes a very long time to get hot and that was hard for me, personally, as an environmentalist. Otherwise, perfect in every other way. Beautiful views. VERY clean. The cottage had EVERYTHING we needed. An amazing place to come "home" and enjoy a relaxing Maui evening.

Peaceful paradise

If you're looking for a beautiful, peaceful spot away from the throngs at the beach Aromatherapy Foundation is the place. My wife and I stayed in the Romantic Cottage and had a wonderful time. The views are spectacular, you can see at least half of the island, and the sunsets are unbelievable. And make sure to get a massage, we each had the best ever. We were a little concerned before we went that it seemed somewhat isolated, but while there we found it's location in the center of the island to be convenient to everything. We will definitely be back.

Peaceful getaway

My husband and I spent a short honeymoon here in September. We wished we could have stayed longer-- the cottage is the perfect quiet getaway and unlike anything else we looked at on Maui. A few comments for those thinking of staying here: --Yes, it's not on the beach. And it is a bit of a drive. But it's a short drive, and absolutely worth it. --The grounds are beautiful. The pool and hot tub are a great place to relax. The cabin has unobstructed views of the West Maui mountains and sunset over the ocean... it's quiet enough that you feel like you're the only one there! --The cottage had a full kitchen as well as a gas grill on the lanai. You could easily cook a quiet dinner yourself. Or you can drive a few minutes to Makawao town for Polli's or Casanova's (or Komoda's donuts in the morning!). You're also less than 15 minutes from Paia (Milagros, the Fishmarket, Mama's...). --Reservations were simple. Communication was very easy, and we were able to check in earlier than we had planned. Our deposit was returned promptly. This is a great place to relax-- we're already trying to plan a return trip!

Breathtaking views from the property! Comfortable rental house in a convenient location. Beautiful gardens around the cottage in a peaceful setting. The pool and hot tub are great. As an added bonus, a spa is located right next door. A perfect place for couples or families. Very relaxing and enjoyable - a memorable stay!

Our stay at the romantic cottage was fabulous. If you are looking for an experience that is different than the hotel one, this one is something to check out. The views are just fabulous all day long, the cottage very nicely appointed and the hot tub and pool a bonus. The pine forest up the road was a nice treat each day. You have to wind your way up the hill to get there which might be a little disconcerting for some but I'm used to narrow windy roads & you will get used to them also - it's worth the trip. You might not want to leave. (PS Families with young children or extended family might want to look into the beautiful house next door. The 3 properties together are great for extended families who want to be together but have some space also).

Heaven on Earth!

I remember reading a quote here on Maui, years ago when visiting Kipahulu, which said "If there is a heaven on Earth, it is here, it is here, it is here." That's how wonderful this place strikes me. I loved the expansive views of the island, the lush grounds, the sound of the wind in the trees and the variety of bird calls. Thank you Tom & Doreena for creating such a sanctuary for myself and others to enjoy. The wonderful spa services and essential oils were truly the cherry on top. The sadness I feel leaving after my 5 day stay is soothed by the knowledge that I'll be back to visit in the future! An honor meeting little Cujo too! Olinda No Ka Oi !

Heavenly Experience

Thank you so much for having us up here at this amazing and wonderful place! If there is any place on this Earth that is most serene and peaceful, this is it. I am sad that we only got to stay 2 nights, but if I ever come to Hawaii again it will not be for "the road to Hana", but rather for the "Aromatherapy Foundation". It is the perfect place to be to savor the beautiful things in life. Hoping to see you again in the future.

A Sublime Stay

Our stay at the Aromatherapy Foundation was absolutely the perfect way to spend our last few days in Maui. The accommodations are cozy and very comfortable, and the view over the grounds and upcountry Maui is awesome. The grounds and paths are beautiful, soothing (and very aromatic, of course). The hosts are very friendly and wonderfully accommodating folks. Do have a massage if you stay...the massage therapists are the best my husband and I have ever experienced. We plan on returning as soon as possible!

"This is our first stay "upcountry" and we have really enjoyed our week in the cottage with the beautiful views, birds, cows, etc. It has been a very nice change of pace from the beach scene. Our couples massage was incredible! We would love to return again during a different time of the year, but the cooler weather allowed us to enjoy the fireplace. Cujo is a sweetie and I enjoyed his company. This felt like home, so thank you for sharing it with us." Jan. 12th, 2011

My husband and I enjoyed 4 secluded and wonderful nights in the romantic cottage and absolutely loved it. We had a stunning view out from our 2nd floor bedroom looking downhill toward the rest of the island below. What a beautiful view to wake up to! The property is very well maintained and this little cottage had everything we needed (minus food of course which we bought at the Rodeo General Store in Makawao....stick donuts at Komodo Bakery are the best!). The owner is really nice and greeted us when we arrived and lead us to the Haliimaile General Store, yum!

My Wife and I went to Maui for our 10th anniversary and went back and forth of where to stay. We were very fortunate to find the Aromatherapy Foundation of Maui. The Romantic Cottage was extremely clean and well tended. The staff answered questions when we had them and were very friendly. The quiet location and beautiful views made our vacation and anniversary very special. We will definitely stay there again on our next rip to Maui.

Magical near MakaWOW!

As difficult as it may be, drag yourself away from surf and sand for a few days in this incredible property. Sweeping views that I'm still dreaming about, landscaping that puts your soul at ease, a view from the pool (where you breath in aromatics from the garden) are really something special...and unexpected on Maui. Our family of four (including a teen and tween) happily spent 3 days here, in peace and quiet. Spring for a massage - you'll never have another one quite like it, in an unbeatable location.
