Nestled in the rolling hills of Kentucky's horse country, our restored log and stone house is located on a working cattle and horse farm. Rodgers Creek runs beside the house and empties into larger Stoner Creek close by. A view from the kitchen overlooks Creekview Farm, a Coolmore property. From the opposite dining area window, cows and calves could be grazing in the field.

A short drive on the scenic Paris Pike takes you past the Kentucky Training Center to Lexington, where you might take in a basketball game or concert at Rupp Arena, attend the Keeneland races or horse sales, or book area horse farm tours. The Kentucky Horse Park is a must!

Take a day trip to Berea, KY to see their arts and crafts. Relive Kentucky history when you visit Fort Boonesborough or Fort Harrod. Visit the Kentucky History Museum in Frankfort, our state capitol. Louisville, home of the Kentucky Derby, is just a 90 minute drive.

Locally, Paris ("Horses, History, Hospitality") is a warm community. Visit Duncan Tavern, also built in 1788; schedule a tee time at Houston Oaks golf course; stop at the Farmer's Market for some local produce.

Inside the house, you will enjoy spending time in the large but cozy log living room. Upstairs takes you to the second floor log bedroom and bath. A short hallway (with first floor bath) off the living room, leads to the stone bedroom - a warm blue color. The kitchen and dining areas in the rear of the house feature a vaulted ceiling and a contrast of log inner wall and colorful exterior wall. Off the kitchen is a pantry area with washer and dryer. A detached garage stands behind the house.

This is a non-smoking house, and pets are NOT allowed. You can contact us for special long term rental rates.

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

This log and stone house was built by my great, great, great, great grandfather in the late 1780's - about 1788 we think. KY became a state in 1792, so he was one of the early settlers. It has been occupied since that time until 1997. We knew it was a log home, but the logs had been covered with plaster for many years. In 2004 we began our restoration and discovered the beauty of the original structure. It was important to us to retain its rustic character, but make it comfortably modern, as it was to be a second home to us. When we completed the work, we felt the need to share its uniqueness with others, deciding to offer it as a vacation rental.

A Laura Ingalls Wilder adventure

The Thomas-Rodgers House in Paris, KY was "our kind of place." We stayed there from Wednesday-Sunday for the Kentucky Derby. We loved the nostalgic feeling of a long-ago log cabin with modern-day amenities. The owners bent over backwards to get the place ready for us after flooding in the area. The place was just as pictured and as we had imagined. We hope to go back again. The town of Paris is quaint with many cute shops and restaurants. We went to Woodford Reserve for a tour of the distillery and to Kentucky Horse Park. Both are "not-to-miss" spots if you are in the area. This is truly horse country and we loved all the horse farms in the area. The old stone walls bordering many properties are also beautiful to behold. One evening as we were preparing dinner, I turned around and glanced out back. A deer was standing beside the big tree with the swing. If you are looking for a-ha moments in the countryside, this is your place.

Wonderful quiet place

Date of Stay: 07/21/11 Review Submitted: 07/30/11

My mother and I stayed at the house for a week, and had the best time. Her college roommate flew into Lexington and spent time with us there too. We loved the peace and quiet time there. We saw a doe and two fawns and an owl in the tree in the front yard. We loved the chairs out back and the little creek that ran by the house, as well as the beautiful horse farms in the area. The house was very nice and well kept and the owners were two of the loveliest people you will ever meet and just a phone call away if needed. We were very much at home there and hated to leave. Will definitely go back. Patti and Joye

Quiet in the country

My husband and I stayed here for five days while visiting family in Lexington. The house was clean and comfortable with a big kitchen that we utilized daily. There is a very long side road near the property that we enjoyed walking on in the evenings. The road passed beautiful horse stables and was a picturesque addition to our memories of the Kentucky countryside!

Thomas Rodgers Home

Date of Stay: 08/29/10 Review Submitted: 09/14/10

Karen and I stayed in the home for 8 days, and other than it being really, really quiet, it was very accomidating. The house is well maintained and the owners are just a phone call away, if we needed them. The house being in my hometown, could not have been in a better location for us. If you are headed to the Lexington area for an extended stay, I would highly recommend the home.

Rolex 3-Day Visit

Guest: Lisa L P (Woodstock, CT)
Date of Stay: 04/21/10 Review Submitted: 04/28/10

My family of 4 stayed at this house last week for the Rolex 3-day event. It was a very cozy house with a gorgeous view! It was very clean, and a great location. We were close enough to Lexington, but far away from "city-life". We were able to take a drive through the gorgeous Bourbon Country countryside in route to the Horse Park. We would highly recommend the museums at the KY Horse Park, and also the tour at the Thoroughbred Center. We also took part in the tour at the Wild Turkey distillery in Lawrenceburg, which was very informative and a lot of fun... The home owners were wonderful to deal with and very accomodating. They left a lot of information on our local surroundings, making our trip that much more enjoyable. We will definitely return to Bourbon County, KY and when we do, will definitely be renting this house if it is still available. Loved every minute!!! Thank you for a wonderful vacation! -
