My family stayed in your home for the Rolex event in Lexington. We couldn't have been more pleased. Actually being a guest in your home just added to our visit. At the end of each day, we were blessed to have such a quiet and clean place to come back to rest and recharge for the next day. We felt at ease in your home from the first time we entered the door and look forward to staying with you again. There is so much that we didn't have time to do and the drive to your home each day was one of most beautiful views I have ever seen. Thank you for offering your very special home.

We recently spent 8 weeks (11/19/2012 through 1/6/2013)at this wonderful home. We fell in love with the home and property as soon as we saw it. We wanted something in "horse country" not far from Lexington ( 35 minutes to downtown). It was exactly what we were looking for---from the lovely , comfortable furnishings, to the propane stove with a recliner chair on either side, and the oh "so cosy" heated mattress pad on the bed! The pictures portray the home perfectly. The kitchen is modern and very well equipped for a long term stay. We were there over Christmas and I was so pleased to have some nice serving dishes etc. for when we had guests in. The location is excellent. There is a nice country lane right beside the creek on the property where we walked almost every day. It runs past many beautiful horse farms and we would take carrotts to feed the horses as we walked. We always saw deer, cardinals, twohees, hawks, Canada Geese, ducks, and many other birds. It was like having our own private santuary. It was such a wonderful place to come home to after our day trips around Kentucky. The property was spotless and well looked after. One could certainly see that the owners were proud of their home. When one loves their home so much, as is evident in this property, it is not always easy to rent to strangers. Not all rentors are created equal! We have rented other units during our travels (certainly not all up to our hopes and expectations!!) and believe me this is at the top of our list. It is only 10 minutes to Paris, Ky. which is a great little town and has everything you need. A couple of our favorite spots there were Lil's Cafe in the JJNewberry building, Clays Restaurant, and The Rock Cafe. The people in the area were so friendly and made us feel so at home. There is so much to see and do in Kentucky from Bourbon Tours, Red River Gorge hikes, Natural Wonder bridge, Blue Licks State Park, Horse racing, Keeneland, Churchill Downs, Lousiville, Berea--to name but a few. We hope to return to Kentucky at some time and would like to be able to rent this home again. We would highly recommend it to anyone. We could not have asked for nicer owners. They was so helpful in every way. A special thank you to our Hosts until we meet again.

My husband and I were lucky enough to stay a week at the Thomas Rodgers house. Although charmingly rustic on the outside, it is equipped with all the modern conveniences on the inside. The owners met us on our arrival and showed us about the place. It is obvious that they care mightily about the homestead. In addition, they provided us with hints on things we might be interested in seeing while we were there. The house is spotless and decorated with a country flare. We did a lot of cooking during our stay and did not lack for any cookware, serving dishes or eating utensils. The beds are extremely comfortable and we slept like tops. The property is secluded enough that we had deer walk up to us while sitting outside in the early morning, but is close to Paris and Lexington for lunch or dinner. The view of the surrounding farms is stupendous and we had a time watching the horses in a far field. We filled our week touring some distilleries, some wineries, some historic sites, including Boonesborough Fort and Blue Lick State Park. We visited Berea college and poked around in the wonderful craft stores. We did not see any of the many horse farms which abound in the area, but our interest did not lie in that direction. I have stayed in a lot of rental homes over the years, and I would rate the Thomas Rodgers house as one my top three picks.

What a beautiful setting for a laid-back vacation. Lots to see in the area including the famous Kentucky Horse Ranches, Horse Racing Track, Kentucky Bourbon Brewery, Kentucky Candy, Shakers Village, Cane Ridge Meeting House and many wonderful restaurants. The home is lovely and provided us with a great place to relax and play cards. The owners greeted us and made us feel welcome in their home and provided us with the history of this family property. I would recommend this to friends and family but would be sure to caution that it would not be suitable for handicapped persons mainly because the stairs to the upstairs bedroom (which are the originals) are not evenly spaced or sized.

From the time you turn off the main road onto this property, you know you are in for a special treat! This rental offers so much more than can be accurately displayed both in words and pictures. We enjoyed sitting under the big shade trees, overlooking the creek, watching and listening to the ducks; the tree swing gave us a moment of pure childhood fun - I know I took my turn; and just slowing down and listening to nature became an anticipated activity! The home was another gem! Every comfort and need has been provided, from the kitchen (everything you need but the food) to the comfortable beds and baths, to the plush couch and recliners. After a long day at the races, it felt good to "come home" to this place. The house was very clean, and well maintained. At no time did we feel we were in an "old" house. But at the same time, you could feel the history and the spirit that only a home like this can offer. The owners are wonderful souls, it felt like we were with old friends only a few minutes after we met. They were invaluable in leaving information and suggestions that were tailored to fit our trip. The town of Paris was another gem, and just a few minutes away. Driving to town and on the Paris Pike is a photographers dream. The countryside and farms lined with the stone fence offered a photo op at any given spot! All our grocery needs were found at Ken's New Market and the food and service at Twilight were excellent! We would recommend this property for anyone desiring a special getaway, and would most certainly return for another visit.

We stayed here for Rolex 2012. My sister and her family were in town early for a legal conference. I arrived on Wed and got there in time for the horse inspection and some shopping at the KHP. Then we went to the house. What a charming place! The grounds are lovely and we loved having the big kitchen to prepare the several meals we ate at home. The cows and nearby horses were great companions to enjoy on our evening walks. The area is beautiful and convenient to the Horse Park and other attractions. We loved it!

We grew up in Kentucky and have always returned for annual visits. Finding the Rodgers house was a blessing for us. We have been staying at the Rodgers house since fall 2007 for our annual and sometime semi-annual visits The house and setting are both idealistic and the location is excellent for us. The owners are always ready and willing to help with any questions or problems and are really lovely people to deal with, The location is great for getting around. Love the 'country roads' with stone fences and lots of trees. There is a real picturesque drive in any direction, be we going to visit relatives, visiting old haunts, discovering new places, going to Keenland or just relaxing We hope to continue to use this property for years to come. Just a stop at the grocery store and everything else is there ready for easy living.

My family enjoyed an extended week-end in April at the Charles Rodgers home. We were pleasantly surprised by the the beautiful restoration of this historical home and it's scenic location in the middle of horse farm country. Nearby Paris and Lexington provided an array of historical and fun places to visit, and our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer!!! We would definitely recommend this to our friends. Thank you Woodford and Al for the wonderful accomodations.

My mother and I stayed at the house for a week, and had the best time. Her college roommate flew into Lexington and spent time with us there too. We loved the peace and quiet time there. We saw a doe and two fawns and an owl in the tree in the front yard. We loved the chairs out back and the little creek that ran by the house, as well as the beautiful horse farms in the area. The house was very nice and well kept and the owners were two of the loveliest people you will ever meet and just a phone call away if needed. We were very much at home there and hated to leave. Will definitely go back. Patti and Joye

I grew up in Lexington, KY. My roots are in the bluegrass state. I breathe easier as I cross the border. I have always wanted my children to feel deeply connected to the rolling hills, stunningly beautiful thoroughbreds, and slow, easy smiles that I associate with my home state. Even though we visit my family in Lexington often, discovering the Thomas Rodgers House in Paris, KY was one of our biggest blessings. One we are grateful for each and every summer. We will be staying in this charming log home for the fifth summer in a row. My kids play in the creek, catching crayfish and frogs. They lob the baseball back and forth out front in the expansive field and await the hundreds of fireflies that appear at dusk. They fall asleep to the comforting sound of cows lowing in the neighboring pasture. They awaken to streaming sunshine and scurry down to swing on the wooden swing hung from a sturdy branch in the backyard. They swing back and forth, still wearing their pajamas, and laugh at the antics of the bucking, whinnying foals in the bright green pasture across the way. We go to the county fair and scarf funnel cake, cheer on the demolition derby, and bond with the animals at the petting zoo. We pick berries and peaches at Reid's Orchard and invent new desserts. Sometimes we are there for the 4th of July fireworks which is wholesome small town goodness at its best. We sample Ale-8. We swim at the YMCA pool. The kids have learned to ride horses at Moss Landing. We've toured farms and learned about the fascinating industry of horse breeding. We go to the drive-in movie theater just down the way and watch movies on the really, really, big screen. And we drive and drive and drive with all of our windows down and our favorite music playing along the beautiful Paris Pike and as many back country roads as we can find to explore. The Thomas Rodgers House is idyllic. One feels removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It is a truly wonderful and special place to gather with friends or family.

My husband and I stayed here for five days while visiting family in Lexington. The house was clean and comfortable with a big kitchen that we utilized daily. There is a very long side road near the property that we enjoyed walking on in the evenings. The road passed beautiful horse stables and was a picturesque addition to our memories of the Kentucky countryside!

The Thomas-Rodgers House in Paris, KY was "our kind of place." We stayed there from Wednesday-Sunday for the Kentucky Derby. We loved the nostalgic feeling of a long-ago log cabin with modern-day amenities. The owners bent over backwards to get the place ready for us after flooding in the area. The place was just as pictured and as we had imagined. We hope to go back again. The town of Paris is quaint with many cute shops and restaurants. We went to Woodford Reserve for a tour of the distillery and to Kentucky Horse Park. Both are "not-to-miss" spots if you are in the area. This is truly horse country and we loved all the horse farms in the area. The old stone walls bordering many properties are also beautiful to behold. One evening as we were preparing dinner, I turned around and glanced out back. A deer was standing beside the big tree with the swing. If you are looking for a-ha moments in the countryside, this is your place.

Karen and I stayed in the home for 8 days, and other than it being really, really quiet, it was very accomidating. The house is well maintained and the owners are just a phone call away, if we needed them. The house being in my hometown, could not have been in a better location for us. If you are headed to the Lexington area for an extended stay, I would highly recommend the home.

My family of 4 stayed at this house last week for the Rolex 3-day event. It was a very cozy house with a gorgeous view! It was very clean, and a great location. We were close enough to Lexington, but far away from "city-life". We were able to take a drive through the gorgeous Bourbon Country countryside in route to the Horse Park. We would highly recommend the museums at the KY Horse Park, and also the tour at the Thoroughbred Center. We also took part in the tour at the Wild Turkey distillery in Lawrenceburg, which was very informative and a lot of fun... The home owners were wonderful to deal with and very accomodating. They left a lot of information on our local surroundings, making our trip that much more enjoyable. We will definitely return to Bourbon County, KY and when we do, will definitely be renting this house if it is still available. Loved every minute!!! Thank you for a wonderful vacation! -
