Quaint Paris Experience

Guest: O Canada (Calgary , Canada)
Date of Stay: 12/30/11 Review Submitted: 01/25/12

We just got back from our eight night stay in Paris,we are a family of four that includes two teenagers.Communicating with the owner was very easy and all our questions were answered quickly. The listing description was accurate but the photos perhaps made the space look bigger than it is.Better suited for a double or triple but as you can imagine not much lounging time is spent in the room. The property was clean and maintained and tastefully decorated(except for the plastic flowers). An extra set of sheets would have been a bonus cause who wants to be washing sheets!Lots of hot water , we appreciated the wall heater that kept us cozy as we were there in the winter. The large windows provided a spectacular view of the church and a flow of fresh air .Les Halles is known for its food markets so if you like to cook, the kitchen functioned very well. The metro station was right around the corner ,but if you like to walk this location is very central to most sites.Yes I would recommend this property to a friend. Cheers.

Wonderful location

We rented this apartment because we enjoy the Montorgueil area of Paris. The view on St. Eustache church is stunning, and we love hearing the church bells. Rue Montmartre is also home to a number of magasins de cuisine, for whatever cookery items you never knew you needed! The pictures for this apartment are fairly accurate. There is no door from living to bedroom; this is closed off with a heavy louvered screen. The bathroom and bedroom windows bring in air and light, but they look into nearby walls. We enjoyed the table in front of the living room windows morning and evening. With the activity along the street, we felt we were a part of the buzz. There is lots of noise, including a market just below two days a week. We happen to enjoy the liveliness, but if you do seek more quiet, you can control the noise by closing the windows and nice, heavy curtains. The apartment is pretty clean. There are cleaning supplies on hand, however, if you feel things need to be touched up. We had a maintenance issue in the bathroom that needed to be addressed. It took a couple of days, but this eventually got fixed. The washer-dryer will not actually dry clothes. It will spin them well and leave them damp, so you will need to hang them to dry completely. The kitchen area has a good counter top, sink, and dish-drying rack, and a good microwave. We were able to find utensils for all of our needs. Keep in mind that you will need to climb at least a couple of flights of stairs for access. In all, we had a comfortable stay in a great area. We would consider renting here again.

Nice Location in Paris

Guest: saprof (Pretoria, South Africa )
Date of Stay: 07/10/10 Review Submitted: 01/04/11

My family (2 adults, 2 kids ages 12,15) and I stayed three nights in this appartment during our recent visit to Paris. The appartment was in a great location, clean and well appointed with everything we needed to make our visit comfortable. The owners were very helpful and assisted in making our stay as pleasant as possible. The listing was accurate and we were happy with the appartment upon our arrival. The photos do a great job of detailing the appartment. Having a beautiful church right across the street made for a nice setting. I would recommend this appartment to others, particularly singles or couples. The metro is very close and you can walk to the Louvre. There is also an organ concert in St. Eustache on Sunday evenings that is a must attend since it is only a stones throw away. A couple of points to keep in mind. Paris can be a bit warm in the summer months and no air conditioning can make a small appartment a bit uncomfortable if you are used to living with a/c. The appartment is a tight fit for a family with teenaged kids but doable. The St. Eustache/Montorgueil area can be a bit noisy at night with cafes and bars. Light sleepers, plan in advance. The appartment is very busy during the summer. We arrived as the departing family left and we passed the next family in the hall on our way out. A bit hectic during peak season but understandable. VRBO was refered to us by friends and this appartment was our first VRBO experience. Based on our Paris stay, we are currently looking at VRBO listings for our upcoming trip to Rome and Florence and applying our lessons learned as we sort through VRBO properties in those cities.

First trip to Paris

Guest: tennisdoc40 (Atlanta, Ga, USA)
Date of Stay: 09/05/10 Review Submitted: 09/11/10

We have just returned from our trip and spent 5 wonderful days. The apartment is well appointed and the pictures reflect it well. The location was the best part for our first trip to Paris. You are truly in a Parisian neighborhood, and I could easily just have enjoyed my days sitting in the local cafes and watching life go by. The Les Halles station can connect you to the lines to the Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coure, Champs de Lysee, and the Musee de Orsay( preferable to the Lourve in my opinion.). Thierry met us on arrival, and was there to meet us at 7 am with a driver to get us to the airport. The deposit was returned without difficulty. Though 4 could occupy, two would be better. I hope to return next year.

PERFECT in every way!!!

Date of Stay: 07/13/10 Review Submitted: 08/10/10

My new husband and I stayed in this apartment for the first week of our honeymoon July 13-18, 2010. It was absolutely perfect. Thierry is a wonderful host and had everything ready for us. The apartment is a very, very quick walk from the Chatelet des Halles metro station (which is a big mall, so there are places to grab a quick bite or supplies as you're coming and going). You come up the steps from the metro, look to your right to the Jet Lag cafe. Rue de Montmarte is to the left of the cafe, and the door to the apartment is just a few doors up the street on the right. There is an elevator, but the apartment is not accessible by it, but the stairs are easy. The apartment is GORGEOUS. Huge windows open on to the street (and there was a street market three days that we were there), but when the windows are closed there is zero noise. The next street over (on the other side of the Jet Lag cafe) has a huge variety of stores and restaurants, including a little grocery with great prices. We also bought a cooked chicken at a boucherie for dinner one night, and found a great patisserie for breakfasts. We didn't tend to cook a lot (used the microwave a couple of times), but it was fabulous to have a fridge, and eating/drinking utensils, and plenty of space to stretch out. The couch in the living room is a double-futon, which worked great for lounging in the evening after a long day of sightseeing. The apartment is perfectly located to visit all the sights of Paris (don't miss the Palace of Versailles!). It has a washer/dryer (it's a single unit that does both), but be careful not to overload it. We did and couldn't get anything to dry! The only English stations we could get on the TV were BBC and CNN, but that was fine. There is also a little stereo, and we enjoyed that very much. Overall, this apartment is just perfect for a couple. Excellent location, clean, well-equipped, and perfect in every way. It was our best accomodation on our entire trip, and we feel VERY lucky to have found it. HIGHLY recommended!

Wonderful location and magnificent view on St. Eustache

Guest: VRG (San Francisco, CA USA)
Date of Stay: 02/12/09 Review Submitted: 04/21/10

I loved staying in this apartment and with the entire transaction. I appreciated being able to pay everything in advance via an electronic payment system. This apartment has all the amenities I require: Wifi, washing machine, a real double bed (not a pullout sofa bed) plenty of hot water and a great location. I loved the view on St Eustache church and the proximity to Les Halles. Communication was excellent with all the people I worked with. The apartment was very clean. I hope to return soon
