Why the Owner Chose Canaan Valley
After looking a long time throughout the Appalachians for just the right spot, we found it. It is breathtaking scenic yet it has lots of activities to do without having the feeling of being crowded. We are surrounded by public lands which has contributed to this sense,
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
We join the rhythms of nature that surround us here....watching the wildlife amble by...listening to the waterfowl on the lake....tracking the sun as it sets in the West. It really is our "touchstone" because we can calm our minds and be renewed here.
THE PROPERTY IS BEHIND THE OLD TIMBERLINE GATE ON TIMBERLINE ROAD ON THE EASTERN SHORE OF SPRUCE ISLAND LAKE, THE LARGEST LAKE IN CANAAN VALLEY.
Very famous with Washington cross-country skiers. Established at least forty years ago. Wonderful home cooked food in the cafe. Go there to eat even when not skiing.
Part of the WV State Parks Well established facilities with well maintained course and great views. Similar to the Timberline resort.
Beautifully maintained 18 hole course with surrounding mountains supplying the scenery.
Canaan Valley Store where you can buy gas and food. Four eateries, miniature golf, and the fire station

This is a great place to vacation with grandchildren. Surrounded by fields, woods, pond and lake. Very private, but convenient. Deer came right up to the back deck. Hot tub was great and one can use all the facilities at the lodge (pool etc). Very comfortable.

What a beautiful setting! Now that I'm back in the 'burbs, my eyes are longing for those expansive vistas! Thanks to the owners & Timberline Realty for attentive service. House is beautiful, clean and cozy. Hiked Dolly Sods, Black Water Falls, and Lindy Point (not to be missed!) We'll definitely come again!

A beautiful house in a beautiful setting. The house is clean, nicely maintained, and well-furnished with a wonderful wood-burning stove. The abundance of windows allows for great views from within the warmth of the house. The owner is very attentive and even called the evening we arrived to make sure everything was okay. The house is a short drive to Timberline ski resort (longer than a short walk, but the drive is quick). Other winter activities are also close by. We really enjoyed the horse-drawn sleigh ride at Timberline Stables. My family and I had a great trip and would love to go back!

Wonderful getting to spend the holidays at Canaan. I took a daily walk around the lake before settling in with a good book before the fire. Completely let down and relaxed. The snow was beautiful particularly on the long walks up in the Fish and Wildlife wilderness areas. The world seemed so at peace.

We enjoyed a fun yet relaxing week in your lovely home. For several summers we have rented homes for our vacation. This has been a favorite. We spent our days picking blueberries on Dolly Sods, swimming, and using the playground at Canaan St. Park. We visited Blackwater Falls and rode ponies at Mountain Trail Rides. We had a daily friendly competition spotting and counting deer. We played games, read, and truly relaxed and spent time together as a fmily. Thank you for sharing your home with our family.
