Kailua house description
This large 700 square foot rental unit called the 'Coconut Corner' is one of the nicest rentals you will find on the Windward side of Oahu — a king size bed, A/C and LCD TV in the livingroom & bedroom, full kitchen and a covered patio—and it is offered at a wonderfully affordable price. This large vacation rental is in a quiet residential neighborhood just a half-mile from the access to a beautiful sandy stretch of Kailua Beach. It is close to a neighborhood shopping center with restaurants, hair/nail, liquor store, coffee shop, gas station and a grocery store.
Kailua town has many different restaurants and places to shop. There are businesses that offer kayak, kite surfing, and wind surfing lessons and rentals. There are wonderful hiking trails nearby and waterfalls.
Kailua is only a 20-30 minute car ride to Honolulu and Waikiki, yet offers a completely different atmosphere from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. Many of our guests enjoy making some of their own meals, even firing up the barbecue to cook up their own special dinners.
This rental is smoke free and we ask that our smoking guests smoke outside only.

We stayed at Coconut Corner for two weeks in February 2009. The other times we have been to Oahu we have stayed with family in the Kahala area. We have since had two more children and were looking for someplace for all five of us to stay. This was perfect. The description provided is right on. There were no surprises, Greg and Cindy were helpful and kind while providing privacy. Our children, ranging in age from 3 - 8, loved Zippy the cat and still talk about him now. One of the best things about staying in Kailua is that you are forced to explore the island! We took the Pali and/or H3/ Hwy 72 more often than when we stayed closer to Waikiki and never got tired of looking at the scenery. We had a great time, this was the perfect place to stay and introduce our children to Hawaii.

Quiet Location/Awesome Getaway
Quiet Location/Awesome Getaway
We loved our stay at Coconut Corner. My husband, teenage son and I stayed there over Christmas and New Years vacation 2013. Located in a quiet community, it provides the perfect place away from the crowds and craziness of Waikiki but is close to the beach. The proximity to one of the three major highways also makes it easy to get anywhere on the island. Greg is a gracious host and spent time talking to us about our plans and offering local advice. He also made available beach chairs, boogie boards, etc for our use at the beach. The apartment has great light and a wonderful cross breeze and we enjoyed our time relaxing there. It also comes with home amenities, making it easy to to cook meals rather than always eat out. We definitely recommend Coconut Corner for anyone looking for a home away from home vacation experience.

Beautiful Place, Great Location
Beautiful Place, Great Location
My Wife and I loved staying at Gregs spot on the beautiful island of Oahu. We were there on our Honeymoon after visiting Kauai and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Greg was extremely helpful and informative as to places to see and things to do and he kept his rental very clean and tidy. Best thing to do, romantic sunset dinner on the beach at Ola's at Turtle Beach Resort.

We enjoyed our stay very much.. The kitchen was excellent and we used it every day. The out door space is excellent. Enjoyed breakfast there every day. It was great to have everything there for us to use to travel to the beach and take day trips. The laundry was the best, we did not need to pack as much for our visit. Thank you very much for making our stay such a wonderful one!!

The property description was completely accurate. The location is in a residential part of Kailua a little less than a mile from beach access. An easy walk to the north end of Kailua Bay beach. Also walking distance to a Safeway and a couple restaurants and coffee shop. The neighbors and everyone else we encountered were warm and friendly. Dogs barking, kids playing. Amenities all as described; WIFI worked fine and the bed was comfortable; all the kitchen appliances one could want and all very good quality, clean, and in working order. The entire apartment was very clean and the hosts were friendly and helpful but respectful of privacy. Kailua is a lovely place to stay on Oahu if you want peace & quite and are trying to avoid the traffic of Waikiki or Honolulu ... and the crowds. It’s also perfect as a springboard for the rest of the island and sights on the North and East Shore. There are plenty of restaurants in Kailua (one of our favorite being Buzz’s) and activities and probably one of the best beaches on the island. There are also some nice drives nearby and places to hike.

A great base on Oahu
A great base on Oahu
Coconut Corner was very comfortable, well-equipped, and made a great base for enjoying the beautiful beach in Kailua and for exploring Oahu. Although it is only a 25-minute drive from Honolulu it is like being in a completely different (and much better!) world. Greg was very accomodating and helpful.

Great time at Coconut Corner
Great time at Coconut Corner
We stayed at Coconut Corner between April 1-8. We had a great time. The hosts were always available when we had any questions. The only things is that there's a lot of dogs barking early morning, I had no issues since I had ear plugs but my husband did have a difficult time sleeping-in in the morning. That was really the only complaint that we had, there's everything at your disposal. I would definitely recommend Coconut Corner.

We had a great time staying @ coconut corner! The cottage was most clean,comfortable,turn-key and ready for guests...We found the beach right away, and later walked over to safeway market,as I love to cook.I was happy to see the BBQ...lots of extras. There was even an umbrella,it came in handy when we went to Polynesian Cultural Center,it did rain alot that day.The last night we were there the power went out for a short time.Cindy & Greg were most helpful, they made sure we had plenty of candles & checked on us to make sure all was well..I found it very helpful to have the laundry facilities available. If we go back next year I will look into returning here.Mahalo to Cindy & Greg....

Home Away From Home
Home Away From Home
When we left the below zero degree weather in Alaska, my two teenage daughters and I were already predisposed to the idea of enjoying a relaxing Hawaiian vacation. Rather than having to fight Honolulu traffic, high rise condos and crowds of people, we stepped into what really felt like our home away from home. Located in a quiet residential area, we found the Coconut Corner apartment to have everything we needed: Fully equipped kitchen, clean, cable TV, books, movies, laundry access and use of beach coolers, toys, lounge chairs and snorkel gear. Greg and Cindy welcomed us on arrival then gave us complete privacy to enjoy our vacation. We’re already anticipating our next visit to Oahu and we look forward to staying at the Coconut Corner again. Five stars, highly recommended!

About the owner: Aloha, I'm a husband, father, jack of all trades, coach of all sports and owner/manager of 5 vacation rentals in Hawaii. I was raised in Hawaii from the age of 8 years old after my family moved here from the USA mainland. Hawaii has so much to offer and I hope you get the chance to visit and explore this amazing state.
Why the Owner Chose Kailua:
My wife and I grew up in Kailua so we know it well. It's so close to the beach, restaurants and grocery stores. The small town feeling and tight community remind us of our younger growing up days. It was so great that we were able to purchase in the beautiful town that we grew up in.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The beach is beautiful with it's white sand, friendly people and mostly calm waters. Never really rough, even in the winter when the North Shore surf spots are reaching 25 feet. A perfect beach for swimming and boogie boarding. There is a small covered patio on the corner, next to the coconut trees, for meals or just for enjoying that morning coffee while watching joggers and dog walker going by.
