We stayed July 11-15th, 2007 and this cottage was absolutely beautiful! The decor was stunning. It was so peaceful and serene, we didn't want to leave. Nothing beats sitting out on the deck at night in the jacuzzi listening to the sounds of the night. Anyone who rents one of the cottages of Green Valley will be thoroughly pleased. I brought my dog and he was in his glory. You will have one tired pooch when you leave there. It took 4 days after we got back for him to recoop! We couldn't have picked a better place for a get-a-way!

My husband and I rented Francena for 3 nights and then Sophrina for 2 nights. Both cottages were equally enjoyable. They are homey and cozy. Both have fireplaces and hot tubs and are relaxing retreats away from home. I recommend visiting this remote retreat to decompress from day to day life. We returned both relaxed and rejuvenated ready to start 2011 fresh. Cottages are pet friendly and include all the amenities you need.

Private little oasis

We loved this cottage. It's more like a house, actually. Loved that there was already dishes, dishtowels, linens, garbage bags and detergent (less to pack!). The layout of the ground is a little difficult to put together without being there. The dock with the chairs is far away from Lory cottage, and the two other cabins are pretty far away from Lory. The paddle boat dock is on the opposite side of the pond than the cottage. The only thing that was weird about the house was the turning staircase.... it was difficult to navigate a large suitcase up the steps. It was truly heaven.

Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers.

Green Valley Francena Cottage

Cute & Cozy well equipped cottage with Hot Tub on deck under a roof, 2 quaint bedrooms with a jack & jill bath. Beautiful grounds surround the cottage and there is a well stocked lake with Bass & bluegil very secluded property. Our dog loved the gounds lots of things to explore and room to run.

GSD Heaven

The place was beautiful, quiet and just a joy to those who like to walk and laze around. The cottage was very nice and fully equipped but don't look for television reception and sometimes cell phone reception. It does have a DVD player if the silence becomes overwhelming. I especially appreicate how dog friendly the place is. I have 2 German Shepherds that just ran, swam and generally had the time of their lives. Juno and Tika

We just got back from celebrating our tenth anniversary at Lory Cottage and loved it. My only regret is that we left Green Valley at all (we explored the surrounding area a bit). Our best times were spent watching the squirrels, birds, and deer from the hot tub or from the windows. The "lake" was a good bit smaller than we expected, but still lovely and fine for a row in the boat. (Not a lot of fish activity in November.) The cottage was charm itself - perfectly sized for the two of us, everything we needed and exquisite in taste. We went to rent bikes at the C&O canals/rail trail but found the rental closed. We walked it a bit instead; it would be great for leisurely biking. The trails in Green Valley were nice - Smith Run is pretty steep but fun if you're a goat (or if your feet are properly attired). I was a bit disappointed in the "creeks" - they were quite small and slow moving, no babbling brooks on whose banks to meditate. Still, it's been a dry fall... We very much appreciated the owners' policy on noise - our neighbors at the other cottages were quiet and kept to themselves. All said, we were completely charmed and felt the serenity of the place deeply. If you're looking for a lot of excitement, shopping, adventure, and sightseeing, maybe go somewhere else. If, however, you're looking for a place where your soul can come out for an airing, where you can re-connect with your loved one, where peace is the password, Green Valley is the place for you!

First Mini Vacation with Our Dog (Lory Cottage)

We just got back from taking our 2 1/2 year old german shepherd named Hector with us to Lory Cottage. Because it is behind a private-gated area and very secluded, we did not have to worry about keeping Hector on a leach or a long tie off. He ran freely on the property, jumped in and retrieved toys from the lake, and just had a wonderful time hiking with us on the trails. The cottage is beautifully decorated and well stocked; just bring your food and drink. On one of the three porches (2 on main floor, 1 on upper floor) is a hot tub for the late cool evenings. Two bikes are provided along with a paddleboat, row boat, and floating device to wade in the lake. There is a volleyball net set up complete with badminton equipment and volleyball. I truly recommend this relaxing, pleasant getaway place. It is exactly as the internet pictures look. We will definitely be going back. Tell the owners, Lola and Gary that Hector sent you!

Lory Cottage - May 23-25, 08 Our first stay - it was just to short ! The cottage is beautiful & the hot tub was awesome !! It was nice to just sit out and watch the sunlight reflecting off the lake. Thanks for a lovely get-away..........Mt. Wolf, Pa.

Francena Cottage - May 16-18, 08 This was our first time here, it certainly won't be our last. Next time needs to be longer. We managed to squeeze in some fishing & caught lots of bass, hung by the campfire and made smores. We love the decore, very quaint, warm, and friendly. Till the next time...........Adamstown, Pa.

Sophronia Cottage - April, 27 - May, 2, 2008 My wife and I, and our two dogs had another good time, this being our 2nd visit. Enjoyed the Smith Run & Dogwood Trails. Saw eleven deer total. It's so relaxing listening to the running water of Bear Creek. We slept a lot...Felt good...............Fleetwood, Pa.
