This lovely 18th century farmhouse is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves in a tiny hameau (hamlet), three kilometers from the center of Gordes, on the north slope of the Petit Luberon valley, with views of the perched villages of La Coste and Menerbes. Part of a cluster of houses called Fontcuadette, the house contains the original bake oven of the hamlet and Mas (farm house), which has been converted into a dramatic passage from the foyer to the fully equipped gourmet kitchen.
Painstakingly restored to keep its original charm while being thoroughly modern, the interiors combine period stone floors, French windows and doors, an open living plan and beamed ceilings. Each of the three bedrooms has its own full bath and every room is furnished with an interesting blend of antique and contemporary furniture and art.
The large kitchen/dining area opens to a private vine covered courtyard with fountain, and a separate covered area for dining al fresco. Across the lane is an exquisite walled multi-terraced, private garden with a 3.5x11 meter (11x36 ft) pool and pergola. This secret garden is truly paradise. |
