La Ribera house description
Peaceful getaway on one of Baja's most desirable beaches. The roof-top patio provides 360 degree views of majestic mountains and white sandy beach. Fishing and swimming are right in front of the house. The uninhabited beaches beyond Playa Colorada provide endless exploration. Please use the link at the bottom of this page to visit our website where you can see lots more photos and information about the area.
Our home is completely furnished and filled with the most modern appliances. There is separate air conditioning in each room and comfortable beds. An outdoor shower is provided for your return from the beach. The kitchen is spacious and has all the equipment for the most creative cooks. Maid service is available upon request.
The charming town of La Ribera is only minutes away. You can charter a panga there for a day of great fishing on the Sea of Cortez. Cabo Pulmo, with world renowned diving and snorkeling, is just 30 minutes south. Just 30 minutes north, you will find Los Barriles with its restaurants, hotels, fishing fleets, windsurfing and shopping. ATV outfitters in Los Barriles will deliver ATV's so you can explore the miles of roads and trails that lead to deserted beaches. A day trip to Santiago, 20 minutes away, provides waterfalls, hot springs, and authentic Mexican pueblo charm. Be sure to check out the zoo.

Our Special Vacation Spot
Our Special Vacation Spot
I have never written a review of our vacation rentals, mostly due to the fact that when they are everything we expected, we hope to keep it a secret. But then this would not be fair to the owner so I feel obligated to relate our stay(s) at what we call the 'Mango House'. We have rented houses and apartments in different areas of the world through the various on-line websites that offer these services and we have been traveling to Baja Sur since 2001. We split our time between our timeshare in Cabo San Lucas and a house along the East Cape. We previously stayed in Cabo Pulmo but the place we rented slowly deteriorated and we wanted to find another location that was quiet yet comfortable and within a walk to the beaches on the Sea of Cortez. That place is our 'Mango House' in La Ribera. You do not need to bring anything but your clothes for the beach when you stay here. Everything is provided; beach toys, umbrellas, chairs, every cooking utensil you could imagine, a great kitchen, comfy beds, and an exceptionally clean home. The caretaker (Abel) and his wife are lovely people, unobtrusive yet helpful. Trino or his brother will take you fishing and you can catch yellowtail, grouper, and red snapper all of which we have done. They both try very hard to ensure that you have a good day fishing. The beach is a very short walk down a sandy path and the Sea of Cortez has that beautiful blue color to it which sparkles on the sun filled days. One must keep in mind that La Ribera is a small, quiet town on the East Cape. No nightlife, cows roam free on the dirt roads so you must be careful driving at night, and groceries are available but somewhat limited. There is bottled water at the house but we have never used it as the water from the tap is fine. You can take a hike to the top of the mountain towards Buena Vista and the East Cape stretches out for miles. Or you can take a ride up the coast and visit the small towns and stop for a cold beer at one of the local watering holes, The road can be rough and dusty in places but it is well worth the effort. One of the best things to do is to take a chair up to the roof of the house at night and just look at the myriad of starts that appear. We have stayed at the 'Mango House' twice now. Once with friends who were amazed at what we were sharing with them and once again this past March. It is a special place for us and we will revisit it again as long as we can. Thank you Stephanie.

Secluded - Safe - and oh so Fun !!
Secluded - Safe - and oh so Fun !!
We, being three generations, my 80 year old Father, my 32 year old Son and myself, so enjoyed our 10 day stay at this magnificent home.- located in an American community just on the outskirts of the friendly town of La Ribera, BCS - with beautiful sandy beaches as far as the eye could see - our neighbors (other vacationers) - from San Diego on one side and Northern Calif. on the other...were so much fun - we all shared our catch of the day together and swapped stories - such a good time was had by all !! The house is so very clean and beautifully decorated - not to mention...a fully equipped kitchen with any and every utensil and appliance you may think of - and purified water brought in daily by the property manager Abel...who is friendly, cordial and non-intrusive. All 'n all...a great place to stay !!

Your house is beautiful. The layout and interior decorations fit in well with the surrounding landscape and local area. The four of us had a wonderful time there and appreciate the opportunity to have such a peaceful, relaxing place to stay while we enjoyed La Ribera and the East Cape. We met Abel and his wife, and Trino who took us fishing where we caught a lot of yellowtail and a grouper. We did some hikes in the area a day trip to La Paz. We were all sad to leave but would like the opportunity to return. I think that we are partial to La Ribera after visiting some of the other towns along the coast – Los Barriles, Buena Vista, even La Paz. We spent the following week in Cabo San Lucas which, as you know, is very different from La Ribera but still enjoyed our stay there.

A wonderful house
A wonderful house
Our family, which includes 2 teenagers and a 8 year old boy, all stayed here and had a wonderful time. The house is very close to the beach - every morning we'd get up and go for a walk on the beach, and then eat breakfast on the patio, enjoying the view. With 3 separate patio's (one in front, one over the garage and one on top), or the beach just steps away, you'll always find just the right amount of sun. Inside, the kitchen has everything you'll need to make whatever meals you'd like. We cooked a great deal over the 9 days we were there and found the kitchen very well stocked. The gas oven and stove-top are easy to use. The dining room and living room were great. The kids enjoyed the cable TV and DVD player. All the bedrooms are very large and have great pillows / blankets. Each bedroom has it's own Air Conditioning, which we didn't use because it only got up to 85 in March - which was perfect. The house is fairly remote - while there are several other houses nearby, few had any people in them. You really have the run of the beach. The house has so many beach towels, it's amazing. They also have plenty of chairs and a few umbrellas that you can take to the beach. We didn't get to try out the masks & snorkels as the water was pretty rough the first 6 or 7 days. Highly recommended!
