We loved staying at the Hawaii House. Perfect location. House was easy to find, clean, well maintained and updated. Well stocked with towels for bath and beach, kitchen necessities, and anything you'd want for outdoor fun. The North Shore is excellent for a calming, relaxing getaway or any adventure you have planned. We went on a few hikes that were near by as well as visited most nearby beaches. We went to quite a few shops and restaurants just a short drive away as was a market to stock up on staples like milk and cereal. Whale and turtle watching from the back yard was a pleasant surprise. A few months before the trip we had personal issues come up with the dates we had scheduled and contacted Gary who helped us sort it out. Accommodating owners, stellar housekeeping, and in touch caretakers made our trip one to remember. We would gladly recommend this rental to anyone, we'll be back ourselves soon! :)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a wonderful stay at the Hawaii house. It was the perfect size and location for our family vacation - plenty of room for six adults, nicely decorated throughout (down to the cute Hawaiian hooks and other knick-knacks in every room), fully equipped kitchen, gorgeous ocean views from the living room and master bedroom, and a big beautiful backyard. We didn't have to drive far to visit many different beaches for snorkeling or relaxing, and had fun shopping and eating at a wide variety of restaurants in Haleiwa. Penny was always available to answer our questions and solve a few minor issues. Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We loved the house. I would have rated it five stars except for a few minor things that could have been better, but are being addressed by the owner. They were in contact with us and fully understood. Terrific people. The house is super family friendly. We had my one year-old grandson and my 85 year-old in-laws, and everyone really enjoyed the place. During the winter, the waves are big so swimming is not a real option behind the house. we still did the kayaks, went to the beach closeby, and just really relaxed. We saw whales, turtles, skydivers; lots of fun. We are DEFINITELY going back, probably in the late spring or fall. Mahalo!!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, families with young children.

The Hawaii House is just as beautiful in person as was in the pictures on VRBO. The main living area is very large and easy to keep clean. I have to admit that I spent much on my time in the screened in porch. We were even able to enjoy the BCS National Championship. ROLL TIDE!!! The house is such an oasis when you have gone to Honolulu for the day and dealing with all the traffic. My best suggestion is to stay on the North Side of the island - there is so much to do. Anyway, I would stay here again. Penny is wonderful!!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing.

I recently took my mother, mother in law, nephews and my niece on a week long trip to Oahu. I have been to Maui previously and had stayed at a nice resort by the ocean. This time around I wanted to save myself the huge resort fees all while enjoying the comforts of home. The Hawaii house provided just that. It was perfect for the family and the kids loved the beach toys, games and DVD's. We prepared breakfast and dinner almost nightly which also saved major $! The bedrooms have their own AC unit, but honestly, we did not use them. The breeze and ceiling fans provided ample cooling. Penny, the caretaker, is absolutely amazing and was helpful throughout our stay. Everything is labeled in the house and there are detailed instructions throughout. You'll never lose your way. My only wish is that the swell would have been lower allowing for direct beach access behind the house, but alas that is not something anyone but mother nature can control. There is direct access (lower tide) only 7 houses away, so it wasn't a huge issue. As for the area, I was in heaven exploring the small town of Haleiwa. Matsumoto's shaved ice was a daily must for all of us. Macky's shrimp truck provided us the most delicious shrimp and rice dinner and for those of you that are LOST fans (like myself), the famous Survivor beach is down the street from the house! The famous North Shore area is a mere 15 minutes away. We stocked up on groceries at the foodland and then enjoyed the most spectacular snorkeling across the street at Shark's Cove. For those looking for something different, we partook in the day village experience at the Polynesian Cultural Center. The family enjoyed this most of all. All in all our trip was amazing and the Hawaii house provided the perfect nesting ground for our adventures. Mahalo to the Capo's for the use of their lovely home. We'd certainly do it again! This was an amazing trip! There were 8 of us for a family vacation. (ages ranging from 5-35) The home provided enough space for us all. Each morning we woke up with a gorgeous view of the ocean. If you don't want to hang out on the beach all day, there are a ton of things to do nearby. We went hiking, snorkeling, shopping, did the world's largest maze at the Dole pineapple plantation, took pictures with giant sea turtles, went to the YMCA where they filmed LOST... And soo much more!! It was pretty incredible. Gary & Penny were extremely nice & accomodating. The only downside.... The house is on the beach, but depending on when you stay, you may not be able to walk down to the sand from the house. We were told this beforehand, so it was not a suprise to us.. just a little disappointing (But thee is beach access within walking distance) Also, we experienced several power outages. Almost every day we were there, the power went out & was out from any where to 15 minutes to a couple hours.. We were told that this was not common & everyone nearby was experiencing the same thing. Those were the only negatives & they were both completely out of the home owner's control. (That's why I still give this home 5 stars) Overall, it was awesome! The home is nice & clean, and it has everything you could ever need :) If you go, be sure to try the shaved ice at Matsumotos (I think that's the spelling) IT IS THE BEST EVER We would definitely return! Thanks so much!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Whales, Turtles, Vistas, relaxation, activity, peace its all here.. The Hawaii House was fabulous. We sat along the sea wall for hours watching whales blow, tail flop and breech just off the coast. Turtles would swim by in the morning and afternoon en route to the daily feeding ground, we walked down to the feeding reef and saw 18 turtles in 90 minutes. The nearby town of Haleiwa has all you may need, galleries, food, shopping. In the sports locker there were swim fins and fishing poles left by previous guests. The kitchen was well appointed as we cooked all dinners at home enjoying the view and song of the sea. A short drive to the end of the road was a nice day trip observing windsurfers, hiking, beach waking etc. Beautiful beaches a short walk in both directions outstanding beach glass collecting opportunities in both places. Dillingham Airstrip offered great opportunities to watch parachutes decorate the blue sky we could occasionally hear them enjoying their experience as they descended to the landing field. We would return without hesitation.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We brought our children and my parents along on our first Hawaiian trip and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hawaii House. The house in itself was magnificent, the location was heavenly. I loved the seawall, kayaks and beach steps away was awesome. Very private and quiet location. loved the brickette BBQ and kitchen was great. loved the master bdrm and outdoor shower was superb. I would recommend this house to any family, it was clean and well kept. Beaches were heavenly around this house. We loved it.
