Gold King Chalet Ski-in/Ski-Out!, Peak 9,Shuttle, Great Review
Year Purchased: 2002
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
Our family chose this location because of the multitude of opportunities that are nearby. In the winter there is downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, sledding, ice fishing, skating, and sleigh riding, and snowmobiling. In the summertime there is hiking, fishing, mountain biking, sailing, golfing, shopping, horseback riding, and gold mine tours.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We welcome our guests to our mountain retreat. This is where our family goes to escape the hectic pace of today’s life. We take pride in providing a clean and comfortable space for those who choose to enjoy our hospitality. Step on to the large open deck, and grill your dinner while you watch the sunset over the Ten Mile range. Or enjoy the 6 person hot tub on a crisp moonless night, while observing the Milky Way galaxy from 10,000 feet above sea level.
This property provides close access to recreation in the region as well as festival and special events in Breckenridge this includes the International Ice Sculpting festival, summer concert series, and OctoberFest.
This location is where you begin the ski down to Peak 9 lifts in the winter or to numerous trails to hike in the summer. This access point is about 150 yards down Gold King Way from our driveway.
Ski further to the Quick Silver Lift and the Maggie Pond and ski rentals and restaurant and ski school.
Lower Lehman Ski Run is a green (easy) run that you can ski down to Beaver Run
Ski back off of Peak 10 on Doublejack ski run. There is a cut off that will take you Flapjack ski run cross over it to the trail.
Take the Double Jack cut off and go across Flapjack ski run to the trail.
Carter Park Sledding Hill is a must do! Very fun for the entire family.

Fabulous mountain house!!!

This house was wonderful. It had it all - quick access to town and the slopes, nice neighborhood, spotlessly clean kitchen and bathrooms, new interior and furnishings, comfortable king-size beds and bunk beds, relaxing livingroom with fireplace, new wrap-around deck, lots & lots of linens, and a huge outdoor hot tub. The hot tub really came in handy the night we got six inches of snow. We have recommended this place to friends and look forward to going back.

The home has lots of sleeping room and was clean. Plenty of places to sleep, but not a lot of room for much else if you have adults and kids together. One issue I had was with the loft. The fold out bed (which appeared to be broken during our stay) in the loft was a perfect place for my 11 year old to have her own space away from younger siblings and cousins, the problem was that the loft overlooks the great room/dining room/kitchen. So, if the adults wanted to watch a DVD or even have conversation, she could hear everything - not ideal. Also, the cable connecting the audio output to the DVD player was missing, so we couldn't have watched movies in the great room at all if we hadn't brought our Xbox from home. The proximity to the trails was excellent and accurately described. The trails, streams, and beaver ponds were gorgeous and the weather was beautiful! The hot tub was a big selling point for our family trip, however we were surprised to find that it was on the front porch within clear view from the street. The house is on a small lot, which probably feels more private with tons of snow, but feels pretty exposed in the summer. Evening walkers gave us some odd glances while we enjoyed our hot tub time. The drawback to this house is the lack of living space, for the amount of sleeping space, I assumed more living space...I should have asked a few more questions.
Owner response:We take great pride in our vacation home and we were sorry to hear that this guest was not fully satisfied with their stay. It appears that the sofa sleeper had been damaged by the previous guest and since we were made aware of this, the entire sleeper mechanism has been replaced. It also has a very comfortable new memory foam mattress. The cable issue was something that could have been resolved with a single phone call to our management office. They are available to help with such matters. We don’t know how the system was disconnected or why but it operates as normal now. The loft is as described, a loft which implies that it is open to the space below. The Living space includes nearly 400 square feet of deck with views of the ski area and sits back nearly 60 feet from the road, down a slope and behind a grove of pine trees. It is a great place to gather for dinner on the picnic bench, barbecue on the natural gas grill and enjoy the large hot tub.

The house was great. Clean, organized and very comfortable. We had a group of 8 and slept comfortably here. The big kitchen table was great for meals and the hot tub was the perfect way to finish a long day on the slopes. The shuttle service was also a big plus. The owners were a great help and very easy to work with. One note that the skiers in our group had an easier time with the trail that led to the mountain from the end of the block than the snowboarders. It was a bit difficult for the riders (more like hike-in).

We would like to thank you for the use of your home over the Thanksgiving holiday. While, not everyone made it out, those who did had a wonderful time. Your home is cozy and warm and will leave lots of memory's for us; my grand children and kids. We will be looking forward to doing this again, possibly in Feb of 2011. Again, thank you for everything,

Our family enjoyed your home tremendously. Very cozy and well kept. Plenty of room for my wife and I and our 2 adult children. Everybody had their space. The hot tub got a workout every night after a long day of skiing and even had a fox that stopped by every night to visit. Most defenitely would stay again!!

We really enjoyed staying at the "Gold King Chalet". There was more than enough room to accommodate our families. (This place can easily sleep the 9-13 suggested comfortably). The shuttle service was awesome for our beginner skiers and our nightly trips to town. Skiing in and out was a lot of fun but there is short walk to the access point. The hot tub is just another bonus at this house. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone interested in staying in Breckenridge.

What a wonderful home! We shared the property with my sister and her family. We all enjoyed the spacious accommodations and having the complimentary shuttle was a blessing! Having a booklet awaiting for us upon arrival made things so easy. Would highly recommend this home !
