Quiet, family oriented south Mission Beach

Our family had never been to Mission Beach, so choosing the right area for us was challenging. We wondered if South Mission was too far from everything, but really loved the quieter south end and the charming courts the homes & condos are located on. Close by are a couple of restaurants & a small market. When we were stocking up on groceries, we went to Ralph's Supermarket, a 10 minute drive, & used the closer market for 'emergency' items. Many more restaurants & shops are located near Belmont Park, Santa Clara Point, or in the area near Ralph's (Pacific Beach). We felt outdoor space was important for us, and the patio shared with the lower-unit condo was nice. We cooked quite a number of our dinners on the grill & roasted marshmallows over the coals afterward, hanging out on the patio. The condo was indeed spacious & clean. Master is large, has king bed, private bathroom & walk in closet & definitely the best of the 3 bedrooms. The 2nd br was smaller, had only a double-bed, a little cozy for our 2 adult daughters but they did enjoy having a tv to watch in bed & seemed comfortable. The 3rd bedroom (small) had no tv, which our adult son would have enjoyed, but the room was ok for him. Loved the ceiling fans! Very nice living room, tall ceilings made it feel even larger. We enjoyed having the free internet access for the week we were there. Bayside beach is indeed VERY close, only 2 houses down, across a narrow alley-way, then a couple more houses-- great for families with younger children. Oceanside also close, down the other way, across Mission Blvd and then down a block. Loved the boardwalk: The girls enjoyed riding the bikes; my husband & I took daily walks. When you're flying all the way across the country, you can't bring a lot of the things you'd like, but David mostly has that covered, what with a cooler, the bikes, chairs & beach towels. We took the provided beach chairs to the ocean; they were in fair condition. David was always responsive to any inquiries we had prior to our stay & helpful with information about the area. Listing photos were very good. 2 units of parking come with the upper condo; we had a compact car & a full-size Ford Truck, & both fit nicely in the carport. We would definitely recommend the property!! When you're a family, it's so nice to have room to spread out, privacy for everyone when they want it, and it's great to fix your own food when you want to!
Recommended for:Sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children.
