Spent a wonderful week away at this property, would definitely go back again and again. Condo is well appointed, pretty, very clean and has the most beautiful view! Owner was extremely responsive to any questions and provided tons of great information on how to navigate Akumal and surrounding areas. Akumal itself is a small town, easily accessed with many different dining and shopping options...you never have to leave and you'll never want to! Fabulous vacation, definitely going back next year!

The condo is very clean, beautifully furnished, maid came daily to clean the dishes, sweep, make beds, etc. We cooked for two nights and had delicious meals using the well stocked pantry and kitchen, Akumal is a dream like place, the snorkeling was amazing. However, our dream came to an end when we were evacuated due to Hurricane Rina! We only got to stay 3 days and then had to leave Akumal since it was a low lying area and flooding was likely to happen. We would have loved to stay! Julie, the owner was wonderful in understanding our situation and the management company was very helpful in giving us up to date information regarding the storm. We left safely and moved inland. Would love to return some day!

We had an absolutely wonderful time! Although we were worried that it may rain from watching the forecast, it turned out to be an almost perfect week. The entire time we could not stop talking about how beautiful it was down there. Every time we looked out the family room or kitchen window to Half Moon Bay, it just takes your breath away. That view is amazing. Here were a few highlights of the trip for us: 1. The food at the Akumal restaurants was amazing. We ate at La Buena Vida, La Lunita, Turtle Bay Cafe, and Lol-Ha. Eating dinner with your toes in the sand is a wonderful experience. On one of the days we took a trip down to the Tulum and had lunch on the beach at Amansala. Their ceviche and mint margaritis there were both wonderful. 2. The snorkeling was beautiful. We went snorkeling in the Half Moon Bay, Akumal Beach, Yal Ku Lagoon, and at the Dos Ojos Cenote. On our Akumal Beach snorkeling trip we swam with a sea turtle that was feeding, which was very fun to watch. We also saw a HUGE (~24 in long) parrot fish at Yal Ku Lagoon that scared my wife half to death. 3. The pool and beach at your condo were almost heaven. Many of the days we simply made margaritas and lounged by the pool and beach while reading. It was so peaceful and relaxing. We all agreed that it was one of the best vacations that any of us had ever been on. We are already talking about how soon we will be able to make a return trip!

My partner and I enjoyed a fabulous vacation in Akumal at LaSirena in May! Julie, the owner, answers absolutely every question or concern that you have regarding the unit and your stay in Akumal. The unit is very nice and well equipped with everything you might need. I would recommend renting either a car or bicycle as theymain beach is about 2 miles away but the walk, if you care to, is lovely. Also, walking out of the unit and straight to the beach was awesome! We enjoyed going to sleep with the ocean breeze every night and waking up to the INCREDIBLE ocean view every morning. The staff was very accomodating and answered every question that we had. Keep in mind that this place is not one for entertainment and partiers, rather for rest & relaxation. We will certainly be returning to this area, and hopefully this unit, in the future.

My wife and I, as well as another couple, spent 10 days here in late June/early July 2011. We absolutely loved every day! The benefit of going off season, is that the beach area looking out at the bay is so quiet and peaceful! Occasionally we'd see one or two other couples/families--but for the most part, we had the view and sand to ourselves. Great dining and bars all within walking distance or short drive along the bay. Yal-Ku Lagoon is also a short walk for incredible snorkeling. Wonderful master bedroom and bathroom, and great maid service each day. It's so great to cook a meal on vacation and not have to clean the dishes! We are already planning a return visit in 2012. Julie (the owner) was really helpful and personable throughout the pre-planning process. You won't believe the deal you got until you walk out your back door--literally take 10 steps--and are standing in the Caribbean!

We just had the most wonderful stay at La Sirena! This condo and the property is lovingly and immaculately maintained with a fantastic staff of property management. We were so happy to find La Sirena and it's wonderful owner (who provided such nice communication and great info) that we are already planning our return! There is so much to do and see in this incredible area but like us, you may find yourself hard pressed to leave the condo and Half Moon Bay. The bay is like having a private aquarium to snorkel in and it's a beautiful beach to walk around to go to restaurants or look for turtle nests! If that isn't enough, La Sirena is a very short walk to the entrance of Yal ku Lagoon, another amazing snorkeling experience! We were wanting a quiet spot for our vacation yet with easy access to restaurants and nearby sites to visit and this was perfect! From our ocean front patio we sipped coffee in the mornings and swung in our hammock or we sat under palapa shades on the white sand beach and watched the sun set. We rented beach cruiser bicycles (that came with baskets and locks) from the property management and had a great time riding the beach road (less than a mile?) past beautiful condos and several restaurants to go into the village for groceries or a swim with the turtles in Akumal Bay (yet another fantastic snorkeling experience!). We cooked breakfast in the well equipped kitchen of our condo but also had plenty of restaurant choices to eat some really good food in the area (Turtle Bay Cafe, Loncheria, La Buena Vida, Lol Ha, Cuevo del Pescadora). From the moment we arrived at La Sirena we felt welcomed and at home and instantly relaxed. It is so beautiful, from the interior courtyard with it's pool amid gorgeous flowering plants and jungle atmosphere to walking in the front door of our condo and immediately feeling the ocean breeze through the floor to ceiling windows! We were in awe walking in and finding such an amazing space with it's windows and high ceilings with ceiling fans spinning and beautiful local art and comfortable decor. We slept really well on the king-size beds with lovely linens and didn't use any air conditioning because of the wonderful breeze and great air circulation. As great as all of the photos we saw on the internet are, they still can't capture how very nice this condo truly is and we'll never forget the experience of walking into our 'home away' for the first time and living in paradise for a week! We can't wait to go back!

This condo was outstanding! We regularly use VRBO for accommodation and have rented throughout the world, but this condo is probably the best we have stayed in! The owner was extremely helpful and provided a lot of information prior to and after arrival in Akumal. The complex was lovely, the staff were very helpful and the place was always immaculate inside and out. The kitchen was very well equipped, there were mountains of fresh towels and the whole place was cleaned daily at a time of our choosing (morning or afternoon). The pool was a welcome break from the sun and was never busy. As a bonus, there was Canadian satellite TV and we arrived just as the hockey playoffs started!! My husband and I had been to Akumal 15 years ago and we decided to visit again with our 9 year old son. He absolutely loved it and is already planning another trip! Highlights for us were: A trip to Rio Secreto, which is a large underground freshwater cave system where you can do some amateur spelunking. The guide was wonderful and the caves were amazing - but be prepared to fork over some cash for photos as your own cameras are not allowed. Cenote Manatee/Casa Cenote where you can swim in the cool water of the cenote (minimal fee of $2.50) and then lunch on the beach watching the pelicans fishing. Xcacel beach which is unspoilt and unpopulated with sand as fine as flour. Tulum, with the spectacular backdrop of the blue ocean and a great beach for wave jumping. Akumal Bay where you can go sea fishing, or just watch the fisherman bring in their catch of sailfish and mahi mahi. We found good, healthy food at Gynna's restaurant, on the road to the condo. Gynna catches lionfish and the tempura lionfish tacos were excellent. Good brownies too! Nice basic food at the hole in the wall next to the Super Chomak grocery store too, and the Turtle Bay Cafe was also a hit. You will need a car, bicycle or golf cart since it is a long hot walk to the town otherwise, but the setting is lovely and you can walk to the Yal-Ku lagoon for some gentle snorkelling and it is fine for strolling to nearby restaurants (La Lunita, Beuna Vida, Gynna's). We had a fabulous time and would love to visit again.

I wanted to turn 40 in paradise, and that is exactly what I did in Akumal! I invited my mom and sister to enjoy a girls getaway to hang out, have no schedules, and spend a fantastic week in this condo. We were literally steps away from snorkeling in Akumal Bay. One lucky snorkle trip across brought me up close and personal with a gorgeous purple stingray and then a stare-down with a beautiful barracuda. And there was always fish galore to watch zip through the coral and sea-trees. To wake up, and walk out the patio door with a cup of coffee, sit in a lounge chair on the sand, and watch the morning sky transform was amazing. I looked forward to it every day. There is plenty of beach to explore and rocks to climb. We found ocean treasures each day. The condo was immaculate. Kitchen was fully stocked with any cooking / serving utensil one might need. Furniture was comfy. Beds, pillows, and sheets were the best I've ever experienced while in Mexico. It felt like home! Closets were stocked with extra towels, pillows, blankets, sheets, whatever we might have needed. I rented a bike for 6 USD per day and biked into the Village to get a full body massage from Budha Spa 3 times. We cooked most of our own meals because it was just to hard to leave our slice of paradise :) When we did venture out, there was plenty of dining options within walking distance. The La Sirena Staff was friendly and tremendously helpful. They consistently went out of their way to help us with whatever we needed. It rained one day, and we spent it drinking homemade KILLER MARGARITAS and watching movies from the extensive movie library supplied by the owner. Even a rainy day in Akumal is a fabulous day! I'm thinking this is where I will be when I turn 41.... :)

This is a lovely unit. The owner is great and will provide you with plenty of useful info about the area. La Sirena is located at the northernmost end of North Akumal, very near to the beautiful Yal Ku Lagoon, and in walking distance to some really fine restaurants. We especially enjoyed La Lunita and Que Onda both of which are really close. The condo is very well laid out and nicely decorated. There are large windows with terrific views of the water. Sunrises on the lounge chairs each morning are really special. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you will need. I highly recommend this as an excellent choice for accommodations. There is also a lot to explore in the area. We visited Aktun Chen, an amazing cave system. The tour through the cave is very informative, and the landscape underground is jaw dropping. There is also local wildlife to see in large cages on the property, i.e. spider monkeys, parrots, toucans and snakes. That was a great side trip. The town of Chemuyil has a very good restaurant called La Palapa just a few miles south of Akumal. Ask for the special! The Tulum ruins are definitely worth a visit as is El Mariachi, a beach restaurant just south of the ruins. The beaches of Xcacel are incredible and the walk to the cenote there is pretty. We saw orchids and a flock of bright blue birds on the way. Akumal is a really sweet little town and this condo exceeded our expectations.

We stayed at this condominium from January 20 to January 30, 2011. The place is fantastic! We are a family of 5, with children aged 4, 5 and 13. There was plenty of space for us and the two bathrooms with showers made things very comfortable. The condominium is very well appointed and very clean. It is attractively decorated with nice furniture and ceramic art. The pool area is beautiful, but our children were much more enthralled with the beach. They would spend hours on end searching for critters. While the entry into the water is a little difficult because there are some urchins, it pays off. The snorkelling is fantastic, particularly early in the morning and later in the day. I was able to take my 5 year old out and we saw several turtles, rays and a wide variety of fish. It is actually much more interesting than Turtle Bay, but that's fun to. Ya Kul Lagoon is a 500M walk and is worth visiting. It was kind of nice because we went early in the morning before many people showed up. They give you a wristband, so we went back to the condominium for lunch and returned to the lagoon with the kids after. There are a couple of white, sandy beaches that aren't as crowded as Turtle Bay just a short drive away. Xcacel is a turtle refuge about 10 minutes south of Akumal. It is a deserted beach with no development. The snorkelling on the north end of the beach is quite good. There is also a cenote about 300M off the south end of the beach in the jungle. Admission is 10 peso per person (cheap). There are a few restaurants within walking distance and they are very good. There are also several more in Akumal. We cooked at the condo a fair bit to, so it was a nice mix. Julie is an extremely conscientious and responsive owner. Communication was excellent and she provided extremely helpful information before we got there. I would also like to comment on the staff at the facility. They were excellent. Our room was cleaned every day and they really tried to work cleaning around our schedule.
