This was a perfect place for two couples to spend a very relaxing week. The only issue that might be considered a problem was that we did not want to leave when our week was up. You can wake up and walk out to the beach and watch the sun come up, have a cup of coffee, and consider your options for the day at a leisurely pace. There are plenty of places to go and things to do in the general vicinity or you can hang out on the beach or the patio and read and relax. There is always a breeze blowing and the waves crashing ashore to keep you comfortable and drain the stress away. You may be alone on the beach, or there may be a small handful of people around, but everyone is friendly and it is not the least bit crowded. The walk in from parking through the pool area and beautifully maintained garden area sets the scene for what may lie inside and it is not a disappointment. It is a pleasant picture every time you walk through the door and see the nicely decorated condo and Half Moon Bay through the large windows. The property is very nicely laid out and well equipped with about anything you might need. The beds are comfortable. The living room is a great place to relax and read or nap. It was perfect for the four of us. The kitchen had everything necessary to cook if you so desire. The wifi worked well, even out on the beach, so it was to keep in contact with the outside world if you need to. Don't miss Lobster Friday at the La Lunita restaurant, which is just down the beach from the condo. The meal was magnificiant, the service outstanding, and the price was very reasonable! Julie is very easy to communicate with and is very helpful and informative. The management company is excellent as well. Our flight was delayed several hours by weather in the US and they waited up until 11:30 pm for us to arrive and assist us getting into the condo. The daily maid service was also excellent. Everyone we came into contact with was very friendly and helpful. We will be back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I have stayed here twice now, and I have to say that it is an absolutely wonderful place! It is a home away from home - everything that you need is there, and the actual condo is so comfortable. My favorite was making the living room couch into a bed so I could sleep to the sound of waves and bask in the moonlight. I highly recommend trying to be out under the stars at night during a full moon. Breathtaking! The people that take care of the place are very friendly, and I absolutely LOVE THE POOL!!! It feels very safe and secure here. But, the best part, of course, is THE OCEAN! It's so nice to just stumble out of the door in the morning with a cup of coffee, walk 5 steps, and set your chair up for the day. The ocean is absolutely beautiful here - and there is not the resort/big city craziness going on. It is quiet and peaceful. At times, I couldn't see another person around. Great restaurant in walking distance, and the best snorkeling is right out in front of the condo - lots of fish and coral. If you are thinking of staying here, DO IT. You won't regret it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was my second stay at La Sirena #3 within the past 18 months. It will not be my last. The condo is large, very clean, very comfortable and well appointed. I enjoyed cooking in the kitchen which was stocked with all of the dishes and cooking utensils one would need. I especially enjoyed the variety of spices to try with the local fare we picked up on the way to the condo. The maid comes in daily to clean up the mess. Snorkeling in front of the condo allows you to experience the abundance of coral and many species of fish. We saw many sea urchins, sting ray and baracuda. It was quiet, relaxing and very calming. Shopping, eating and snorkely out from the white sand beach at Akumal found my daughter swimming with a large turtle. From the Condo we walked to Bueno Vida for great food and drink. We mostly ate in and were totally relaxed. This property has my high recommendation and I hope to return soon. I would recommend it to friends and family who are looking for a quiet get away within easy distance of exploring ruins or more activity.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I stayed at La Sirena #3 in March 2011, and could not pass up the opportunity to return a second time two weeks ago. This condo is so equipped, so comfortable, so relaxing, just so PERFECT. The view is mesmorizing and the sound of the ocean is hypnotic. It is almost impossible to hang in the hammock or lay in the lounge chairs under the palapas and NOT drift away! The purpose of my return trip was to attend "Mom Camp" in Akumal... I traveled with my mom and my sister and the rule was we had to take naps, read, nap, snorkle, walk the bay and find treasures, nap, make a snack, watch a movie, nap, float in the gorgeous pool, and nap some more. We only dined out 3 times during our week stay because the kitchen is so well maintained, and the view from the condo CANNOT BE BEAT. We had breakfast every morning on the sand watching and hearing the ocean, 10 steps from the patio door.... it just does not get any better! We snorkled in Half moon Bay right in front of the condo daily and saw fantastic coral formations and fish galore. We also took the $5.00 taxi ride to Akumal Beach twice and saw sea turtles, stingray, and more fish right off the white sand shore. Akumal is off the beaten path...it is why I love it so much. It is quiet, peaceful, beautiful, and safe. Serentiy and relaxation are inevitable. I will be back! Thank you for sharing your slice of paradise with the rest of the world :)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The condo and its location were paradise. The pictures do not do the property justice--spectacular oceanfront view, cool ocean breezes at night, sand and beach chairs immediately outside the patio:) We bought juice oranges for the condo's juice press and drank the most delicious fresh squeezed OJ every morning. Of course, we tried several of Akumal's restaurants including Lol-Ha(the beach), La Cueva Del Pescador(mariachi band), La Buena Vida(swing bar), La Lunita (excellent mango margaritas) and Lucy's Kitchen (delicious shrimp tacos and homemade ice cream). Our 19 year old daughter especially enjoyed an excursion to Xel-ha, an all inclusive ecological park. She was able to try several of their mixed drinks, as well as snorkel, zip line and cliff jump. Julie provided us with many helpful tips while visiting a different country and culture. Gracias.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

We just got home from a week long stay at La Sirena and I am already trying to figure out how soon we can get back!! We absolutely loved everything about this place - the condo itself is absolutely gorgeous. The decor is very beach inspired with shells and sand in the candle holders and while the ad pictures are good they are no comparison to the actual view that greets you from that living room expanse of glass. The bedrooms are very large and the king sized beds were very comfortable. Pay for the A/C it's worth every penny! The kitchen is large and equiped with everything you could need to make any meal (or drink) and the cleaning girls come do the dishes every day!! We watched iguanas meander across the sand and gorgeous birds dip their beaks to fish right in front of the reef-rock wall. This was my first time snorkeling and being able to snorkel from right in front of the condo in Half Moon Bay is wonderful but don't do it without booties as there are sea urchins everywhere! To my beginner-self, the snorkeling in Akumal Bay was FANTASTIC - there are large sea turtles and rays everywhere you look and the reef system is simply gorgeous. The weather during our week was great - there was only one day where it rained and it only lasted an hour at most then back to the sunshine; most of our stay it was in the high 80's and a bit humid. Julie is wonderful - she answered every question we had before and during our stay and gave us wonderful tips about where to eat/drink while we were there. The on-site staff were incredibly helpful and courteous every time we encountered anyone on the premises and we were able to rent bicycles right there in the pass-through to the street for $5US/day or $30US/week. Note that even though they are in the process of bricking the roadway, it is still very full of potholes and makes bike riding tricky and a bit painful. Also beware that in Mexico they have no concept of the same bike laws like they do here in the US - I was almost run over by a van that would NOT move over and I had nowhere to go except to fall over onto the sidewalk. Overall, I have to say that this was my most favorite vrbo lodging I have ever rented and will definitely be rebooking and telling all my friends. Muchas gracias Julie!!!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The condo is very clean, beautifully furnished, maid came daily to clean the dishes, sweep, make beds, etc. We cooked for two nights and had delicious meals using the well stocked pantry and kitchen, Akumal is a dream like place, the snorkeling was amazing. However, our dream came to an end when we were evacuated due to Hurricane Rina! We only got to stay 3 days and then had to leave Akumal since it was a low lying area and flooding was likely to happen. We would have loved to stay! Julie, the owner was wonderful in understanding our situation and the management company was very helpful in giving us up to date information regarding the storm. We left safely and moved inland. Would love to return some day!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We had an absolutely wonderful time! Although we were worried that it may rain from watching the forecast, it turned out to be an almost perfect week. The entire time we could not stop talking about how beautiful it was down there. Every time we looked out the family room or kitchen window to Half Moon Bay, it just takes your breath away. That view is amazing. Here were a few highlights of the trip for us: 1. The food at the Akumal restaurants was amazing. We ate at La Buena Vida, La Lunita, Turtle Bay Cafe, and Lol-Ha. Eating dinner with your toes in the sand is a wonderful experience. On one of the days we took a trip down to the Tulum and had lunch on the beach at Amansala. Their ceviche and mint margaritis there were both wonderful. 2. The snorkeling was beautiful. We went snorkeling in the Half Moon Bay, Akumal Beach, Yal Ku Lagoon, and at the Dos Ojos Cenote. On our Akumal Beach snorkeling trip we swam with a sea turtle that was feeding, which was very fun to watch. We also saw a HUGE (~24 in long) parrot fish at Yal Ku Lagoon that scared my wife half to death. 3. The pool and beach at your condo were almost heaven. Many of the days we simply made margaritas and lounged by the pool and beach while reading. It was so peaceful and relaxing. We all agreed that it was one of the best vacations that any of us had ever been on. We are already talking about how soon we will be able to make a return trip!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I, as well as another couple, spent 10 days here in late June/early July 2011. We absolutely loved every day! The benefit of going off season, is that the beach area looking out at the bay is so quiet and peaceful! Occasionally we'd see one or two other couples/families--but for the most part, we had the view and sand to ourselves. Great dining and bars all within walking distance or short drive along the bay. Yal-Ku Lagoon is also a short walk for incredible snorkeling. Wonderful master bedroom and bathroom, and great maid service each day. It's so great to cook a meal on vacation and not have to clean the dishes! We are already planning a return visit in 2012. Julie (the owner) was really helpful and personable throughout the pre-planning process. You won't believe the deal you got until you walk out your back door--literally take 10 steps--and are standing in the Caribbean!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

My partner and I enjoyed a fabulous vacation in Akumal at LaSirena in May! Julie, the owner, answers absolutely every question or concern that you have regarding the unit and your stay in Akumal. The unit is very nice and well equipped with everything you might need. I would recommend renting either a car or bicycle as theymain beach is about 2 miles away but the walk, if you care to, is lovely. Also, walking out of the unit and straight to the beach was awesome! We enjoyed going to sleep with the ocean breeze every night and waking up to the INCREDIBLE ocean view every morning. The staff was very accomodating and answered every question that we had. Keep in mind that this place is not one for entertainment and partiers, rather for rest & relaxation. We will certainly be returning to this area, and hopefully this unit, in the future.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just had the most wonderful stay at La Sirena! This condo and the property is lovingly and immaculately maintained with a fantastic staff of property management. We were so happy to find La Sirena and it's wonderful owner (who provided such nice communication and great info) that we are already planning our return! There is so much to do and see in this incredible area but like us, you may find yourself hard pressed to leave the condo and Half Moon Bay. The bay is like having a private aquarium to snorkel in and it's a beautiful beach to walk around to go to restaurants or look for turtle nests! If that isn't enough, La Sirena is a very short walk to the entrance of Yal ku Lagoon, another amazing snorkeling experience! We were wanting a quiet spot for our vacation yet with easy access to restaurants and nearby sites to visit and this was perfect! From our ocean front patio we sipped coffee in the mornings and swung in our hammock or we sat under palapa shades on the white sand beach and watched the sun set. We rented beach cruiser bicycles (that came with baskets and locks) from the property management and had a great time riding the beach road (less than a mile?) past beautiful condos and several restaurants to go into the village for groceries or a swim with the turtles in Akumal Bay (yet another fantastic snorkeling experience!). We cooked breakfast in the well equipped kitchen of our condo but also had plenty of restaurant choices to eat some really good food in the area (Turtle Bay Cafe, Loncheria, La Buena Vida, Lol Ha, Cuevo del Pescadora). From the moment we arrived at La Sirena we felt welcomed and at home and instantly relaxed. It is so beautiful, from the interior courtyard with it's pool amid gorgeous flowering plants and jungle atmosphere to walking in the front door of our condo and immediately feeling the ocean breeze through the floor to ceiling windows! We were in awe walking in and finding such an amazing space with it's windows and high ceilings with ceiling fans spinning and beautiful local art and comfortable decor. We slept really well on the king-size beds with lovely linens and didn't use any air conditioning because of the wonderful breeze and great air circulation. As great as all of the photos we saw on the internet are, they still can't capture how very nice this condo truly is and we'll never forget the experience of walking into our 'home away' for the first time and living in paradise for a week! We can't wait to go back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This condo was outstanding! We regularly use VRBO for accommodation and have rented throughout the world, but this condo is probably the best we have stayed in! The owner was extremely helpful and provided a lot of information prior to and after arrival in Akumal. The complex was lovely, the staff were very helpful and the place was always immaculate inside and out. The kitchen was very well equipped, there were mountains of fresh towels and the whole place was cleaned daily at a time of our choosing (morning or afternoon). The pool was a welcome break from the sun and was never busy. As a bonus, there was Canadian satellite TV and we arrived just as the hockey playoffs started!! My husband and I had been to Akumal 15 years ago and we decided to visit again with our 9 year old son. He absolutely loved it and is already planning another trip! Highlights for us were: A trip to Rio Secreto, which is a large underground freshwater cave system where you can do some amateur spelunking. The guide was wonderful and the caves were amazing - but be prepared to fork over some cash for photos as your own cameras are not allowed. Cenote Manatee/Casa Cenote where you can swim in the cool water of the cenote (minimal fee of $2.50) and then lunch on the beach watching the pelicans fishing. Xcacel beach which is unspoilt and unpopulated with sand as fine as flour. Tulum, with the spectacular backdrop of the blue ocean and a great beach for wave jumping. Akumal Bay where you can go sea fishing, or just watch the fisherman bring in their catch of sailfish and mahi mahi. We found good, healthy food at Gynna's restaurant, on the road to the condo. Gynna catches lionfish and the tempura lionfish tacos were excellent. Good brownies too! Nice basic food at the hole in the wall next to the Super Chomak grocery store too, and the Turtle Bay Cafe was also a hit. You will need a car, bicycle or golf cart since it is a long hot walk to the town otherwise, but the setting is lovely and you can walk to the Yal-Ku lagoon for some gentle snorkelling and it is fine for strolling to nearby restaurants (La Lunita, Beuna Vida, Gynna's). We had a fabulous time and would love to visit again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

I wanted to turn 40 in paradise, and that is exactly what I did in Akumal! I invited my mom and sister to enjoy a girls getaway to hang out, have no schedules, and spend a fantastic week in this condo. We were literally steps away from snorkeling in Akumal Bay. One lucky snorkle trip across brought me up close and personal with a gorgeous purple stingray and then a stare-down with a beautiful barracuda. And there was always fish galore to watch zip through the coral and sea-trees. To wake up, and walk out the patio door with a cup of coffee, sit in a lounge chair on the sand, and watch the morning sky transform was amazing. I looked forward to it every day. There is plenty of beach to explore and rocks to climb. We found ocean treasures each day. The condo was immaculate. Kitchen was fully stocked with any cooking / serving utensil one might need. Furniture was comfy. Beds, pillows, and sheets were the best I've ever experienced while in Mexico. It felt like home! Closets were stocked with extra towels, pillows, blankets, sheets, whatever we might have needed. I rented a bike for 6 USD per day and biked into the Village to get a full body massage from Budha Spa 3 times. We cooked most of our own meals because it was just to hard to leave our slice of paradise :) When we did venture out, there was plenty of dining options within walking distance. The La Sirena Staff was friendly and tremendously helpful. They consistently went out of their way to help us with whatever we needed. It rained one day, and we spent it drinking homemade KILLER MARGARITAS and watching movies from the extensive movie library supplied by the owner. Even a rainy day in Akumal is a fabulous day! I'm thinking this is where I will be when I turn 41.... :)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

This is a lovely unit. The owner is great and will provide you with plenty of useful info about the area. La Sirena is located at the northernmost end of North Akumal, very near to the beautiful Yal Ku Lagoon, and in walking distance to some really fine restaurants. We especially enjoyed La Lunita and Que Onda both of which are really close. The condo is very well laid out and nicely decorated. There are large windows with terrific views of the water. Sunrises on the lounge chairs each morning are really special. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you will need. I highly recommend this as an excellent choice for accommodations. There is also a lot to explore in the area. We visited Aktun Chen, an amazing cave system. The tour through the cave is very informative, and the landscape underground is jaw dropping. There is also local wildlife to see in large cages on the property, i.e. spider monkeys, parrots, toucans and snakes. That was a great side trip. The town of Chemuyil has a very good restaurant called La Palapa just a few miles south of Akumal. Ask for the special! The Tulum ruins are definitely worth a visit as is El Mariachi, a beach restaurant just south of the ruins. The beaches of Xcacel are incredible and the walk to the cenote there is pretty. We saw orchids and a flock of bright blue birds on the way. Akumal is a really sweet little town and this condo exceeded our expectations.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at this condominium from January 20 to January 30, 2011. The place is fantastic! We are a family of 5, with children aged 4, 5 and 13. There was plenty of space for us and the two bathrooms with showers made things very comfortable. The condominium is very well appointed and very clean. It is attractively decorated with nice furniture and ceramic art. The pool area is beautiful, but our children were much more enthralled with the beach. They would spend hours on end searching for critters. While the entry into the water is a little difficult because there are some urchins, it pays off. The snorkelling is fantastic, particularly early in the morning and later in the day. I was able to take my 5 year old out and we saw several turtles, rays and a wide variety of fish. It is actually much more interesting than Turtle Bay, but that's fun to. Ya Kul Lagoon is a 500M walk and is worth visiting. It was kind of nice because we went early in the morning before many people showed up. They give you a wristband, so we went back to the condominium for lunch and returned to the lagoon with the kids after. There are a couple of white, sandy beaches that aren't as crowded as Turtle Bay just a short drive away. Xcacel is a turtle refuge about 10 minutes south of Akumal. It is a deserted beach with no development. The snorkelling on the north end of the beach is quite good. There is also a cenote about 300M off the south end of the beach in the jungle. Admission is 10 peso per person (cheap). There are a few restaurants within walking distance and they are very good. There are also several more in Akumal. We cooked at the condo a fair bit to, so it was a nice mix. Julie is an extremely conscientious and responsive owner. Communication was excellent and she provided extremely helpful information before we got there. I would also like to comment on the staff at the facility. They were excellent. Our room was cleaned every day and they really tried to work cleaning around our schedule.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

I can't say enough about how wonderful it was to spend our family vacation in Akumal. Our children are older, and we chose a vacation over gifts for Christmas, and it was the best decision we ever made. This is our 2nd family vacation in Akumal, and both trips were amazing. This condo was the perfect size for a family of 5, spacious, well appointed with everything you need on vacation, and right on the water. It was spotlessly clean, and the maid service was terrific. The snorkeling right outside our door was terrific. Having a swimming pool on site was a bonus, too. We cooked in most days, and ate out some others. Our favorite spots were La Buena Vida (for dinner and nightlife) and Lol Ha. I had the best yogurt and granola one day for breakfast at Turtle Bay Cafe, and the kids really enjoyed the breakfast and lunch bar outside the Chomak grocery store - authentic, delicious, cheap Mexican food. Each time we return to Akumal, we discover new things. On this trip, we finally made our way to Yal Ku lagoon, which is right down the street from our condo. It was a beautiful piece of paradise with great snorkeling, and only $9.00 a day! We came and went all day. We didn't rent a car this time, but took a shuttle from Cancun airport to Akumal, which cost us $160 round trip. We rented bicycles to get around town, and they were perfect at $6.00 a day. We did rent cars one day to go back to Xel Ha, which was one of the kids favorite things to do last time. We also spent time in the pueblo across the street and got to know some of the townspeople. If you are someone who doesn't appreciate the hustle and bustle of a resort town vacation (like Cancun), Akumal is the perfect spot for you. There's plenty to do there, great restaurants and activities, without the chaos of the tourist traps. You feel like a part of the community from the moment you arrive. My kids kept saying "next time we come back..." so I know it was a hit with everyone. We also traveled with another family, so there were 10 of us all together, and every one of us had the time of our lives. This vacation spot is highly recommended!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

When we walked in this condo, we were delighted to find it more beautiful than the photos on this site. A spectacular location, well kept unit, grounds and pool and amazing scenery. Our family of four (8 + 4 year old kids) stayed at this property and had an amazing time. The quality of furnishings in this unit was excellent - beds, linens, towels, dishes, spices, etc. and we felt we had everything we needed. Sand toys and floaties were great and we loved the quality collection selection of games, movies and books. We felt like we were staying in a friend's home - not a rental unit. The owner was very helpful in providing accurate advice and great recommendations that made our trip a huge success! There are also staff on-site that are very friendly and we felt like the area was quite safe and family friendly. There was daily maid service, which was good quality and she even washed our dishes! We also met lots of nice folks staying or living in the other units....including the very large iguana who lives in the siding of the building. Kids loved that! The beach at Half Moon Bay is rocky and generally shallow - the quality of snorkeling is World Class - we saw a huge variety of sea life. We did find the beach challenging for our young children who were a bit nervous of the sea urchins and preferred the pools for swimming and La Sirena's private sandy beach area. We loved Yal Kul Lagoon and were just constantly amazed at the amount of sea life in this area. We enjoyed Akumal Village and visited the shops and restaurants there. Our kids loved the big sandy beach at Akumal and there are lots of turtles to be seen in the main bay. We found Akumal to be a quaint and clean area and we all stayed very healthy during the trip. We were glad we had a rental car, as we found the walk to Akumal a bit far for our young kids and it was fun to be able to explore many of the nearby off the beaten path beaches and drive to Tulum and Playa Del Carmen. We had wished we practiced our Spanish a bit more so that we could converse better with the folks of Akumal, but we managed okay. Internet connection seemed to be unreliable and unpredictable (like in many areas of the Yucatan unfortunately). However, the staff at La Sirena reception were most generous with sharing the wireless internet connection and telephone when you needed it, so that was great. This was an excellent place for our family. We would definitely come back and stay here!! Thank you!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Stayed here for 5 days with my husband and 2 children ages 11 and 14. We had a wonderful time and absolutely loved the Akumal area. Lots of fun snorkeling right out in front of the condo, many trips to the pool, and plenty of space to relax at the end of the day. Very clean and well maintained condo with everything you need to feel at home, We stopped in Playa del Carmen at the grocery store and brought items for breakfast and lunch to the condo but still ventured into town for several meals. Great time at Xel-Ha snorkeling and swimming with dolphins, Tulum for the ruins and lots of great pictures, Yal-ku lagoon close to the condo also great snorkeling. Loved every minute of the trip and hope to return soon. Thanks Julie for sharing your condo.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We(two couples) stayed in this condo 02/28/10 to 03/08/10 and loved it! Everything is exactly as described in the VRBO website. The condo was beautiful and well equipped. The view was amazing!! Being on the ground floor and just steps to the beach was fantastic!! We loved that we could walk to a great beach bar and many restaurants. We loved the small town of Akumal as well. We want to go back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

My husband and I spent part of our 30th anniversary trip to Mexico in Akumal. This was our first trip to Mexico and we loved it.This condo was very nice, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed. The staff is also very nice and try to help you in any way.It is also in a good location. The owner was very helpful answering my questions and got back in touch with me very quickly. Everything was great.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I recently stayed at this lovely condo on a girl’s trip. It accommodated 5 girls comfortably. Each room had its own air conditioner, which was nice and cool. I did like the fact that during the day, you could open all the windows and patio doors front to back, and enjoy the tropical breeze and sounds of the ocean. The kitchen had everything you would need. Bottled water was constantly provided. We enjoyed the huge window in front of the kitchen sink, that we left open most of the time and was handy for refreshing the margarita glasses.Everything was super clean. We had the same housekeeper daily and she took care of us and even did our dishes. We stopped at the grocery store in town and bought breakfast items and tequila and beer. That was a pretty good little store. I t had a large frozen food section and enough of everything we needed. The owner provided a list of her families favorite restaurants. Most were outdoor seating and we were all ways in our bathing suits. I was very surprised at the good quality of food. One place had amazing pasta. We had pizza delivered one night and it was good. We ate out for every meal, drank everything with ice, and no one in our party ever got sick. I have gotten sick at a 5 star in Cancun before. Speaking of getting sick, of all the people we met there, no one even knew of anyone ever getting swine flu, and a lot of the folks in this town stay there a good part of the year/season. Right out side our door we went snorkeling. Five steps and you are in the ocean. There were many different swimming beaches close by. You can walk to town, but we had a rent car ,which was very handy and I do recommend it.If you want a massage, there is a place in town that the neighbor next door recommended and he said was good.I bought a nice hand woven bag, not your typical curio. in the village, at an artisan's boutique. It has become my purse of choice for the summer and I get compliments every day. .We have been going to Mexico for 30 years, usually to Playa del Carmen. Most everything is now all- inclusive, and has gotten more expensive, and we just tired of the same buffet every meal. I had never tried a condo before and the experience was much better. It helped that the owner was great to work with!My husband just informed me that he was ready for a beach trip, and I am booking our next trip in this condo again.Did you find this review helpful? Spent a wonderful week away at this property, would definitely go back again and again. Condo is well appointed, pretty, very clean and has the most beautiful view! Owner was extremely responsive to any questions and provided tons of great information on how to navigate Akumal and surrounding areas. Akumal itself is a small town, easily accessed with many different dining and shopping options...you never have to leave and you'll never want to! Fabulous vacation, definitely going back next year!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

We have been going to Akumal almost every year since 1994 and have stayed in many different condos. This condo has become our favorite for many reasons. Great location, beautifully furnished, best equipped kitchen yet and very helpful owner. Beach towels provided so we didn't have to pack ours. Snorkling a few steps away, A/C effective, very comfortable beds. Plenty of room for two couples. We'll be going back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Simply amazing, you are literally steps from the ocean. We loved relaxing by the BBQ on the outdoor sundeck watching the waves crash against the reef 200 yards from your back door. Or you could cook dinner in the fully outfitted and bright kitchen. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a breathtaking view of the ocean, along with very hip and tasteful decor. Our two girls ages 16 and 14 loved snorkeling right off the back steps while my wife and I caught a few rays in the comfortable lounge chairs provided. Don't let the front of the building trick you, once you step inside this establishment you will be very impressed. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The location alone puts this property above the rest, there are a few restaurants within walking distance that are well worth taking in as well as Yal ku lagoon with some fabulous snorkeling. All in all, we would definitely recommend this unit to anyone wanting a quiet romantic getaway or just some fun in the sun.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

my husband, two young children and I just returned from our stay at La Sirena #3 and cannot wait to get back!!!! We had a wonderful time. the condo is perfectly appointed, tastefully furnished, and well stocked with everything a family needs - including some wonderful beach toys for the kids. The outside patio was perfect for "al fresco" dining - ie easy to clean up after. If the pool and immediate beach area weren't what we were after on a particular day, we'd hop in the car and drive 5 minutes to one of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico. Overall we had an amazingly relaxing and rejuvenating time. I highly highly recommend staying at this beautiful place(although I do recommend having a car to be able to get around.)
