My wife and I stayed in the Metro Suite for our honeymoon, and it was everything we could have wanted and more. The location was perfect--walking distance from everything we wanted to do, and still removed enough to be quiet and calm. The suite was the perfect size for us and never even remotely felt tight. The best parts, though, were the personal touches from Steve and Trish. Steve was very friendly and welcoming in greeting us and checking us in. They had some food in the fridge for us when we arrived so that we didn't have to go shopping immediately, and even gave us a wedding gift! We couldn't have hoped for a better place to stay.

From check-in to check-out, this unit in Victoria is truly a 'gem'. Situated within a short walking distance to the hub of downtown activities, you could easily do without a car rental if staying here. Owners Trish and Steve are the most accommodating and helpful hosts, available to answer any questions and offer suggestions to enhance your enjoyment of Victoria. The unit itself is furnished to make the most of it's space and contains everything a vacationer could wish for. Upon our arrival the whole unit was immaculately clean, and the fridge and cupboards had been stocked with enough goodies to allow us to put off grocery shopping until Day 2. When the door to the balcony is shut, the unit is very quiet. Every aspect of our stay, from the initial contract to returning the keys was handled efficiently and professionally. You'd be hard pressed to find a better 'home away from home'.

We were here a week in May & couldn't have been more pleased. The condo is in the heart of Victoria, within walking distance of the inner harbor & ferries, Royal BC Museum, Legislative Buildings, Beacon Hill Park, Government & Douglas Streets, Chinatown, etc. Also nearby was a market where we found a great selection of fruits, veggies, and prepared meats (stuffed chicken breasts were an easy, tasty dinner - only needed one to share). We rented a car which was convenient for a trip to Butchart Gardens (a must-see) as well as a drive to Sooke (very nice museum on the way) but we walked to many sights, and we are 60+, not kids! The apt itself is spotless & in excellent condition, in a lovely and secure building (and neighborhood) & the parking is very conveniently located in the basement. The furniture is comfortable & also in excellent condition and the thoughtful and personable owners have clearly made an effort to provide everything one could need. We had spent a day traveling from South Carolina & really appreciated the fruit on the kitchen table & milk/bread/butter in the refrigerator & coffee/tea/chocolate in the pantry for the first few days' breakfast. There was shampoo & soap in the bathroom, laundry & dishwasher detergent & all the necessary paper supplies. We especially enjoyed the free calls to our family back in the States. Steve met us at check-in and was available to answer any questions. He was very friendly & accommodating & helpfully provided maps & travel literature. We are planning a return visit next year. Victoria is a beautiful city & this apt makes a lovely base, truly felt like a home-away-from-home!

Our Month at City Life Suites

We very much enjoyed the time we spent at City Life Suites. Steve and Trish Young (owners) did an excellent job of providing us with a well equipped full kitchen. The apartment was very clean which was important to us and they provided excellent recommendations on grocery shopping, restaurants and attractions in the area. We would definitely recommend this condo to others seeking vacation rentals in Victoria. We rarely got in our car. Everything we wanted to see was walking distance from the suite. When you walk, you don't have to worry about parking. We did lots of walking, used the gym that was available for guests, ate in the suite and at local restauraants, Browns Social House, Spaghetti Factory, Rick's Grill, Earls, etc. They were all great.

Visiting Grandma

We just had a baby and came to Victoria to visit with grandma. Her place was too small for the 3 of us, so we decided to rent a condo for the week. This condo was prefect for us, walking distance to everywhere we needed to be, we were even provided with a loaf of bread, milk and fresh fruit to get us started. Trish and Steve were really great to deal with and I highly recommend this condo to anyone visiting Victoria.

You can stop looking and book your Victoria stay here. I consider myself a fairly seasoned traveler and have never stayed anywhere better. Incredible hosts - they even had milk and bread in the refrigerator and fresh fruit on the table when we arrived. I asked about wireless internet for my itouch and they installed it for us! Full size washer/dryer right in condo was great. Exercise room/ pool table room with entertainment area on first floor was free to access. Very safe/secure and perfect "home base" location. City Bus to Butchart Gardens across the street (the bus system is amazing and inexpensive). Thank you Steve and Trish for a dream vacation.

We are frequent travellers and rate the 'Metro Suite" as the best all-round 'home away from home' that we have been in on any continent. All we needed to bring were our personal items - Steve and Trish provided everything else to meet all of our needs for our stay as well as a welcome package of food so that we did not have to run to the grocery store right away. Things you can count on: a quiet, secure building; a comfortable nights sleep; well appointed furniture; all the cooking utensils you will require; the proximity to downtown and the harbour; a great starting point for shopping and walks. We have already booked for next year and that is the best compliment we can pay to our hosts.

We just got back from New Orleans where we stayed in an apartment that had absolutely rave reviews (VRBO). Great location in the French Quarter, but I can tell you that it did not hold a candle to your rental. We spent 10 days in the Metro Suite in early October and really enjoyed our stay. Prompt, personalized service from Steve and Trish set the hallmark for this one bedroom condo in downtown Victoria. They made every effort to answer all questions asked. The location is perfect. Walk to great dining, entertainment, shopping and all attractions. Walking distance to Seattle and Port Angeles ferries. Very easy access to included underground parking. 20 minutes to Victoria airport. Very good grocery store only 5 blocks. Fully equipped kitchen for dining in if you choose. Unit is truly spotless - the cleanest accommodation that I have ever seen! Very quiet neighborhood too! I can't recommend this condo highly enough.

This was our first experience with VRBO. I am sure we are spoiled now, because it will be hard to top the overall experience. Steve met us at the Clipper dock and kept our bags until we could check into the suite. He also gave us a quick tour of downtown by car so we could get our bearings. This was extremely helpful, since we had several hours to explore prior to our check-in time. As many have stated before, the suite is lovely and extremely well-equipped. The location is fantastic. We didn't rent a car, but did take the city bus out to The Butchart Gardens (go on a day when there are no cruise ships in the port; also go in the afternoon - it was not very crowded at all). When we do get back to Victoria, we will plan our trip around the availability of the suite. Steve and Trish have really thought of everything - it is the perfect place to stay!

We couldn't have asked for a more comfortable or convenient place to stay for a month. The apartment was so well equipped that we had everything we needed. And the location downtown...well, it couldn't have been better. Steve met us on arrival (Trish was unavailable at that moment) and made sure we were properly settled in having showed us all the amenities in the condo. Aileen particularly appreciated having the laundry facility right in the flat and what could be better than having a free telephone service throughout the North American continent ?. In fact, everything went swimmingly the whole month...except this year's weather...and Steve and Trish could not be held responsible for that !!!. Having the Inner Harbour so close was a big plus and the bus service right at the door was a blessing. All in all we had an excellent holiday and would recommend this condo to anyone contemplating a stay in Victoria. The Metro Suite is a beautiful, secure condo in a great location in downtown Victoria. I have stayed in several condos in the same area but none as nice, as comfortable, nor as well equipped. The owners are charming and were extremely helpful and hospitable. They have provided every amenity you could possibly imagine. We arrived later than planned but Steve was there to meet us off the bus and show us to the apartment. We were so grateful for the goodies, bread, milk, butter, tea etc and as our bags had not arrived with us the toiletries were most welcome. The apartment far exceeded our expectations and was equipped to a high standard. TV, DVD player, stereo and internet access with free local calls really helped to make us feel "home". The laundry system was great too so no need to bring so many clothes next time!! Trish and Steve went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. We were so pleased to find such a wonderful place for our week in Victoria. We have used the Vacation Rental By Owner (VRBO) website to find apartments or villas both in the USA and in Europe. Our condo apartment in Victoria rates #1, tied with a favorite apartment in Engleberg, Switzerland. We found our suite to be emaculate and very well equipped. The location was perfect as we just wanted to be downtown near the harbour and great restaurants. We did shop at the wonderful gourmet market for some meals we prepared and served on our deck balcony. The notebook of information was especially helpful in finding restaurants and places we wanted to visit. We would add Camilles to the restaurant list. Steve and Trish are the ultimate hosts. Due to both a plane and ferry delay, we arrived in Victoria at 11:45 p.m. Steve and Trish insisted on meeting us, even at that hour, to take us to our apartment where we found fresh fruit and other choices for snack or breakfast. Having a contact in case of questions or emergency was reassuring. We especially appreciated the use of the phone for calling back to the states due to a family illness. We also appreciate the fact that recycling is expected and made easy. We enjoyed having the harbour, Parliament, the BC Museum, Fisherman's warf, a gourmet grocery, and wonderful restaurant choices within walking distance. Since we had been to some of the other attractions in the Victoria area, we chose not to rent a car this trip. We even took the city bus out to the University as we love exploring different university campuses. We were fortunate to be in Victoria during the Dragon Boat Festival which we enjoyed very much. Nice to compare this benefit to similiar benefits in our home city. We hope to return to Victoria and will check the calendar to make sure this rental is available before we make flight reservations.

8/15/08 What a wonderful month's stay in the Metro Suite. Vacation rental pictures online rarely match reality but the Metro exceeded our expectations. It sparkles, bright, clean, nicely furnished with so many personal details to make the stay enjoyable. We so appreciated having juice, coffee milk and bread already in the fridge so we didn't have to shop as soon as we arrived. Our guests really appreciated a sofa bed mattress that is actually comfortable to sleep on. The location is superb - within easy walking distance of the inner harbor, shopping, restaurants, markets, etc. The added bonus is the superb hospitality of our hosts Trish and Steve. This is a wonderful apartment. It is beautifully maintained, spacious and immaculate in every detail. There is absolutely everything you need for a very comfortable stay.The apartment building is quiet and secure. Located close to Inner Harbour, you can walk to many of the attractions in Victoria, including the Museum of British Columbia and the Empress Hotel. Steve and Trish are wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. We would not hesitate to recommend this apartment.

This has to be one of the cleanest most well equiped units we've ever stayed in. Very close to the harbour, quiet and close to many attractions. We made many walking tours to Beacon Hill Park and enjoyed the wild life immensely. How nice to see flowers blooming in January. We have just completed a three-week stay in this suite which is very well equipped and furnished and the location in downtown Victoria could not be better. Lots of good restaurants and shopping within short walking distances. The high-speed internet is fast and reliable. The building is quiet and we encountered no noise in the hallways. There were no negative surprises. In fact, we had a wonderful, positive experience. Steve and Trish are very attentive, helpful owner/landlords.

Steve and Trish are the perfect hosts! We took our 5 month old son (which they had a pack n play crib set up for) and had such a wonderful visit in their fabulous condo! Steve & Trish were great hosts, which included kindly providing a few groceries for our late arrival. The apartment was well located downtown, was in excellent condition and was very clean. The apartment was modernly furnished with stainless steel appliances and unique furnishings. The building was extremely secure with an advanced security system. Being on the 5th floor, we were aware of the 'downtown noise' outside, especially with active building construction in the area. The apartment would be ideally suited for an individual or couple, although we did manage with two young children as well. The free long distance calls were a nice inclusion. Try the coffee shop that is in the building (Cafe Mela.) It was very good. Steve and Trish made our stay very enjoyable and we highly recommend this property to other customers

To Trish and Steve our thanks for for you hospitality and kindness. The appartment was perfect for our needs and I would recomend it for anyone who is attending a conference in Victoria. As for Victoria itself the iconic attractions are everyting they are touted to e but there is a depth and beadth to Victoria that is worth discovering. The Maritime Museum, Mungo Martine House, The BC Museum and Beacon Hill park were the second level "finds" that made Victoria a first class conference and holiday. We happen to think the appartment, Trish and Steve were also standouts in their own way of our time in Victoria. Would like to do it all again one day. Bob and Pat

The apartment was absolutely ideal for our needs! It was extremely smart, well decorated and in a very convenient location. We truly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful luxury apartment.Clean, modern and met all of our needs. Close to all ammenities.... the Inner Harbour, Convention Centre, shops and great dining places. A little noisy with the bus traffic and inner city traffic. However, enjoyed whale watching, and smelling the beautiful flowers. A must do again experience.

What a great way to visit Victoria! Be welcomed by Steve and Trish to a secure location that looks out on the heart of the city. And what a neat condo!It is smart,modern, comfortable and well-appointed. If you wish,you can step out of the front door and walk to the harbour,the prov. legistlative buildings,the museum,Beacon Hill Park or to shopping and restaurants. Doreen and I did not want to leave! The decor and attention to detail made our stay memorable. The building is quiet with fast elevator service. The downtown location is great. Trish and Steve are very accomodating. Highly recommended!

Hannah and I enjoyed our stay in victoria very much. The apartment was very comfortable, well stocked and well furnished, it had everything we needed to feel at home. The location was awesome too, we barely did any driving to get to see the sights. We appreciated the fully stocked kitchen as well, because it gave us a break from eating out on the town all the time, and saved us a substancial amount in restaurant bills. We recommend this rental suite whole heartedly, five stars for sure. Thanks Steve and Trish!
