Located on 3.27 beautiful landscapes acres. Surrounded by lovely spruce trees and larch over thirty feet tall. Flower gardens surround the house and property. From the picture windows a beautiful view of the Northeast ocean and great salt pond to the west. From the large deck off the dining room a beautiful view of the sunsets in all the colors of the rainbow can be seen.
While the house is a typical Block Island farm house, it has been refurbished over the years and has all modern and up-to-date comforts. Block Island is known as the eighth wonder of the world and the Bermuda of the North. The beaches which are under a mile from the house have the clearest, cleanest, waters in the world.

The spaces in this home are nice for a large family. There was plenty of room to get together in both the living room and the kitchen. The grounds are beautiful, as are the views. If you've got little kids they'll love walking up to the airport! Be forewarned that the house is musty, so not appropriate for those of us with allergies. The house must have been a beauty in it's day but that was some time ago and it seems on the run down side as of August '11. The listing said that there was internet access but that turned out not to be true. You may want to bring your own pillows--bedding is musty. We had to leave the island three days before our rent was up due to Hurricane Irene. No compensation was offered.
Owner response:I am happy the renter enjoyed the house. The house is not musty. Since the renter has allergies, this may have been the problem. I live in the house all winter and it is a very well ventilated and heated all winter home. The house was completely renovated in 1989. all windows and plumbing were up dated. New refrigerated, with ice maker and filtered water, new gas stove and oven, as well as all new blankets and pillows. New wall to wall carpet installed a year ago, The kitchen, and dining room, new toilet, washer and dryer and dishwasher are in a addition that was built in 1989. WE are on a very high elevation on the island, with summer breezes all summer. I think since they had to leave the island for hurricane Irene. May have dampened things, however Irene never came close to BI. Just a little rain and wind. And I assure you it was not my fault.

My family and I enjoyed our stay it had a nice view of the harbor, great deck with a beautiful backyard for the kids to play in. Across the street is the airport with a yummy dinner for breakfast. The house is a bit of a walk from town would not recommend with small children I would drive. Those that visited while we were there liked the house and view.
Owner response:I am glad to hear that the family that stayed at our home for a week this summer had a great time. The view of the ocean and the island from our elevation is beautiful, and the sunsets to the west can be seen from our outdoor deck in the evening. We have 3.27 acres and plenty of room on our lawns around the house for kids to play. The dinner at the airport is walking distance and all the kids and parents have lunch or breakfast and see all the private planes landing.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

This is the most comfortable home. Great view of ocean and close to beaches and town. Beds are comfortable, and all kitchen equipment is the best. Large deck with gas grill. we had a lot of good dinners there.

My family and I stayed here last summer. The house was clean and larger then it looks from the outside. There is a large eat in kitchen which allowed for being social while cooking as well as two large sliding glass doors that go out to the large back deck. There is a large gas grill, lots of chairs and two tables on the deck which allowed us to eat outside with the beautiful sunset background! The front porch was charming with views of town and the ocean. The bedrooms were comfortable and clean with views of the ocen and island. The living room was large with huge picture windows which also gave great views of the ocean and island. There is a large screen TV with sat channels. Although we spent little time in the house due to the outdoor activies of the island. The owners were very nice and helpful with any questions. We were told that we could clean the house our selves upon leaving or hire a cleaning service at our cost. I recconmend hiring the service. There was garbage pick up twice a week as part of the rental. The location was perfect in regards to being away from town yet close enough to walk to beaches and to town. There is even a diner down the street for an easy uncrowded breakfast. We look forward to our return this year to this same house!
Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, pet owners, sightseeing, families with young children.
