The location of this condo was excellent! It was a perfect set up for the 4 of us, we were walking distance to everything, we even did the island bus to Lahania, it was alot better than the bus system in Barbado's! The bus worked great for when we wanted to go to another town and have a few beverages. The condo was clean and everything that we were promised, everyone was very nice and helpful. If we go back to Maui we will definitly look up Joe and Karens condo to see if they are still renting it out. We would walk down to the Beach Bum Bar and Grill and have their ribs on Wednesday (they were excellent!! One dinner will feed 2 people and still have leftovers) We had whales for entertainment everyday out in the bay. We rented a car and checked out the whole island! The drive to the north and around is a very nice drive, we thought it was better than the road to Hana. It had alot more of the narrow roads but alot more of it was along the ocean and not near as many cars.

Hi Joe and Karen, I (this is coming from Jeff, my mom and the kids too!) wanted to thank you so much for letting us stay at your condo. We had an incredible time on the Island, staying in our 'Maui House' as the kids called it. It is such a beautiful location, easy to get to everywhere or no where (as we chose on some days). The wind was a blessing as it cooled off the condo to the point we never actually used the AC. Swimming right from the condo was beautiful and so was the running. Our favorite was grilling and having our dinners outside on the lawn, so awesome.It was so nice going to bed with the sound of the waves crushing outside and waking up to the same sounds (well, some mornings it was a crying baby or two but we'd rather forget that!). We managed to cover quite a bit and the kids and us will have memories that last a lifetime. What an experience!!!!! We are certainly going to be back!!! Mahalo! We had a great month in Maui and your accommodations made it that much more enjoyable. Joe, your help and information was very useful and much appreciated. The condo is very centrally located, close to beach, shopping, sight seeing etc, nothing was more than 1/2 hour away. We loved to have breakfast on the balcony and watch the whales put on a show every morning. The pool, hot tub and grounds were well kept and other residents very friendly. Enjoyed Bar b Qs and lawn furniture, even had some lunches by the water.The condo was well kept and had every convenience we could want. Sugar Beach was great for swimming, snorkeling or just going for a walk. Thanks for the use of your condo.

Dear Joe and Karen,Many thanks for the use of your beautiful Maui Home! We enjoyed every minute of our two-week stay in Maui and have so many pictures and memories to include in our scrapbooks! We can’t tell you how nice it was to have this personal contact with you prior to our arrival. Every detail you shared with us was of great value. We printed off every email exchange so we had them to refer to--and we ate at all the restaurants you recommend--Yum. The Barefoot Activity staff were fantastic with the reservations they made for us. Our luau seats were right up front, we couldn’t have planned it better. And the Zipline Haleakala Adventure is one the kids are still raving about--a must for those who love an adventure.You helped make our vacation to Paradise a true Paradise. When we were packing up to leave on Sunday…everyone of us were wishing we had one more day…I guess that’s how it is to be in Paradise and have to leave. It gives us something to look forward to…we’ll be back in five years! Our little two year old granddaughter on the day after their return home, looked out her back door and said to her mother “Mommy…No Whales! Maddy miss Whales…Maddy miss water..go Waii?”, our daughter told her “mommy misses the water and the whales too!”. We stayed here from Dec 21-30, 2009. The location is perfect. It is mid point for everything. The harbor is right down the street, and it is really a beautiful location. We were able to see the whales playing out in the water from our balcony. The condo was very nice and well kept. No complaints about it. I would definetly stay here again. Joe was always in touch when we had questions. What a wonderful place to stay during the Christmas holidays. Thanks again to the Dorsey's

Hi Joe And Karen We had such a great time in Maui. Your condo is sistuated in such a great location. You can go in any direction and find things to do with in a 20 minitue drive or shorter. It is so hard to believe that our time has come and gone, but we will always remember the great time we had. It was so nice to come home after a long day and just veg at the pool or hot tub or the teenagers in there room with the t.v. going. Lay on the couch or sit on the lani and watch the ocean. Something you can not always do from a hotel room. It was just like home. Thank you for opening up your home in Maui to us. Joe and Karen, thank you so much for your help with everything that added up to the best vacation of my life! Your condo is in a great location. I have read some of the comments about Maalaea not being a preferred location, but we thought it was wonderful! It was central to everything, close to the airport and pretty close to shopping. We had a lot of fun with all your beach toys at Maui's numerous and sublime beaches. The swimming pool was great and very well maintained. And what a treat to be right on the ocean, listening to the waves at night and watching the sunrise in the morning. We'll definitely be back!

Although I did not personally have the pleasure of staying at the condo, I did arrange for my nephew and his new bride to spend the first week of their honeymoon at the condo. From all that I have heard to date it was spectacular and the kids enjoyed it immensely. There was nothing amiss and they were very pleasantly surprised with the gift of Champange and chocolates what a lovely lifetime memory for them. I do not have enough glowing adjectives to describe what a wonderful experience it was dealing with Joe. The fountain of information and the quick responses to my questions and concerns was unbelieveable. It is not always easy arranging a honeymoon from another country with someone whom you have never met and to do it all conveniently by email, but this was truly and amazing and pleasant experience. I can't wait to get an opportunity to try this condo ourselves. Although we have been many times to Honolulu and the Big Island we have not as yet been to Maui. Next honeymoon is going to be ours. I would most certainly recommend Joe and Karen and their condo should the occasion arise. Wonderful experience and an unforgetable honeymoon from what the kids tell me.

As I read through all the positive comments associated with this property, I was impressed. When I got to the end and saw the owner had approval rights, I got nervous. What if he only approves positive comments? I forged ahead and started an exchange with Joe and Karen. They quickly put my paranoia to rest. The comments are all positive because the total experience is positive! The condo is cozy and perfectly appointed with all the conveniences of home.... and then some. We arrived late on Tuesday night and the dark hall was a little spooky. When we opened the door to the lanai, the sound of the waves on the shore left an impression that will last forever. Seeing the ocean and palm trees upon arising the next morning was exceptional. Joe's email and web site provided a wealth of information for planning our brief stay. We managed to fill every minute with the road to Hana, a climb up Haleachala with lunch at the Kula Lodge, Maui Tropical Plantation and the Eao Valley. The property manager pointed us to O'Lei Cafe on the golf course for the best lunch of our vacation. I would love to visit Maui again and would schedule it around the availability of Joe and Karen's condo. They go the extra mile to ensure your vacation in paradise meets or exceeds your expectations. I had an amazing time down in Maui. The condo was absolutely great. All the amenities were provided for, think snorkeling gear, beach towels, boogie boards, silveware, etc. The condo had two full bathrooms, two queen beds, and two twin beds which worked out perfectly for our traveling group. I love the fact that it had 3 TV's located in each of the bedrooms and then a large screen TV in the living room. The condo also had a jacuzzi and a pool that was put to great use. The grounds itself were well maintained for (i.e clean) and best of all was the view. You can see the ocean and people snorkeling/paddle boarding off in the distance. Definitely picture perfect. The lanai was quite spacious as well w/a seating area to enjoy the view and I forgot to mention that the condo itself was clean and you can see it was well care for. The location of the condo was great, minutes away from Kihei and the beaches. Also, the surrounding area was pretty nice too, felt safe which was a big plus for me. Check in and check out was a breeze. P.S Joe sent us detailed emails prior to our stay that provided extremely helpful information about the island and lotsa FYI's which in my eyes makes him a super duper awsome hostess! Thanks Joe!! I would love to come back and stay here again :)

My stay in Maui was only three short nights, but they were pretty memorable. Joe did a great job in providing ample information and tips for my stay, he truly went above and beyond to make sure I was well informed for my trip. I was traveling with a party of 6 and the condo fit us all wonderfully, it was cozy yet provided just the right amount of space. I liked that there was a TV in every room so there was no fighting for the remote during down time. Every convenience is provided and the view was amazing. The outdoor BBQ area, pool & hot tub were definitely put to good use. The location was really great for a lot of activities; my travel mates were able to snorkel right off the property and great restaurants were mere minutes away. Everything was so conveniently located. I really enjoyed my time in Maui and will definitely want to stay in Joe's condo if I were to ever go back for another vacation.

Hi Joe and Karen Aloha from The Hills Health Ranch. Sorry it took so long to write something in your guest book. Life gets busy. You would think working at a Health Resort we would be stress free and have lot of free time, but keeping everyone happy and running a resort is a full time job. Anyway, we had such a great time in Maui, it was a vacation of a lifetime. Your suggestions and recommendations were great. The Condo was great. The weather was fantastic. I do not really want to recommend you to anyone, kinda would like to keep this place a secret. We can't wait to return. Hope to be back in 2010. I would personally like to thank Joe and Karen for allowing me and my family to stay in his condo.. again! My son and myself stayed here in 2006 for his cancer wish, and it was exceptional. This time, I was able to bring my entire family along to enjoy the ride. With a total of 10 people including an infant, we were able to go through the road to Hana, attend the Maui Ocean Center, watch the whales from the condo lanai, go to a luau, kayak, snorkel, amongst other things. But most of all, Joe and Karen were able to get a lovely lady named Lori to perform a vow renewal ceremony for my husband and I's 10 year anniversary, and her husband Jamie to sing a few songs.. thsty truly made our trip a once-in-a-lifetime experience. My family is still abuzz about this trip and are looking forward to return again. This is a place that I would recommend over and over again to stay, and Joe and Karen always go above and beyond to make sure our stay is memorable. Mahalo, Ana & Jose Collazo

We were lucky enough to stumble across the link for GotMaui on homeaway. It ended up being a perfect fit for our family. We had 3 very small children and 5 adults, and the accomodations were just right. There are baby gates, cribs, and lots of beach toys. The pool and hot tub right under our lanai was incredible. Don't believe the guide books that say Ma'alaea is too windy and a bad place to stay, it's not true! The dust and wind were actually worse in Kihei while we were there. The condo is centrally located to everything (except Hana!). Joe and Karen went out of their way to answer every question I called and e-mailed them with and sent tons of great info our way. Joe went so far as to order a brand new and very awsome wok because I asked if there was one in the condo. Better hosts couldn't possibly exist. When I return to Maui, I will definitely stay at Joe and Karens, if they'll have us. It was so hard to leave their wonderful home, and it still the background on all 3 of my computers. Thanks again Joe and Karen for the perfect vacation!

We had the pleasure of staying at Joe and Karen's place for about a week in September. We had originally booked a more expensive condo (which was one room, no balcony), and we had a chance to go see it (other family stayed at same condos in Kehei) and BOY, WERE WE GLAD WE RENTED JOE AND KAREN'S! Why: Super close to everything, especially Lahaina and Kehei, but quiet and tranquil and private. The sun and moonrise over Haleakala - breathtaking! The almost always empty pool and spa tub! Air conditioning, ah blessed air conditioning! Restaurants a few blocks away. Live music a few blocks away. A park with miles of beach a couple blocks away (small private beach in front). Almost all tour boats depart from, you guessed it, a few blocks away. Amazing view from the balcony and living room and kitchen - we enjoyed staying "home" almost as much as being out and about. We didn't need the three bedrooms, but hey, the price was right and I didn't have to look at my suitcases the whole trip. We went snorkeling at Napili and a turtle as big as my dining room table swam by us and touched me with his fin, then followed me around with his little rainbow colored fish buddy. The lava fields were amazing. Seeing all the family there for the wedding was amazing (we highly recommend the Sunday brunch at Maui Prince!!! Yum.) We stayed at Joe and Karen's condo 8/24-9/2 with our daughter and four grandchildren (1.5-16 years). We had the time of our lives! The condo was comfy and centrally located to everything. With the exception of the road to Hana, we never drove more than 30 minutes to any of our destinations, which were many. We highly recommend the PWF eco tour to Molokini and Turtle Town for snorkeling, leaves right from Maalaea harbor. Also enjoyed snorkeling on our own at Makena Landing, around the point. Some in our group were lucky enough to swim with an ancient honu. The Royal Lahaina Luau was just perfect for what we were looking for with the grandkids. The price was right, the food was excellent and the kids loved the upbeat Hawaiian show (so did I). My husband and I have been to a couple of other luaus which were more authentic, but this was perfect for the kids and actually exceeded my expectations, given the reviews I read prior to our trip. We had fun. Joe, thank you for all of the information and assistance you provided me over the past 6 months. It was fun to see the pictures of you and Karen up the stairway at the condo. Nice people! When we were walking out the door to leave on Tuesday morning, we all felt sad to leave our home away from home. We will surely return. Patti Guynes and family from Oregon.

We had the pleassure of being the first ones to enter comments about Joe and Karens place back in 2005. It was a real treat for us in June of this year to bring the family back to the paradise of Maui and again enjoy the hospitality of the Dorsey's. It has been fun staying in tough with Joe over the years and greatly appreciate his willingness to make sure that you truely enjoy yourselves at their place. Many updates had been made since our first stay. This is the perfect place for a family of five. We were talking about our trip last night and said that although this was our last family trip as everyone is getting older and going in seperate ways we would still stay at the Dorsey's even though we would not need all the space. You cannot beat the location and the accomadations are great. You really cannot go wrong and will not be dissapointed. Thanks again for everything that you have done for our family over the years. You and Karen are "Good People" As a wise man once said "until we meet again"

We enjoyed our trip and the condo. It was pretty hot when we arrived but the cool ocean breeze kept it nice. We never had to use the a/c. And it was so nice to have the sounds of the waves put us to sleep each night. We talked about having to buy a CD of ocean sounds to help us get to sleep after getting back. My in-laws enjoyed the condo as well. My father-in-law would have walked all the way to Kihei along the beach if we had let him. We didn't visit the Waterfront, but enjoyed a nice dinner at Buzz's one night. Definitely the best prawns and onion soup on the island. Service was great as well. Dinner at Kula lodge after sunset on the volcano was very nice, too. We were also delighted to find a rice cooker in the unit (my wife and her family is Japanese) --yes -- it's the little things that make a difference. All in all, a great time was had by all. We just returned from seven wonderful days in Maui. The condo is perfectly located between Kapalau and MaKena -- the area of Maui where all of the action is. Also it is a five minute walk from Maalaea Harbor where there are many activies -- fishing, snorkneling, sunset cruises, etc. Nice condo, great location -- we highly recommend it.

I wanted to drop a note to thank you for your condo and tell you how much we enjoyed it. It was perfect because we had privacy in that Todd, Julie and the boys had the loft to themselves, which was nice. The place also is so centrally located to everything in Maui. I did write a fairly extensive note in the journal at the condo but wanted to express my thanks personally. The maids were waiting in the parking lot when we left to ask what room we were exiting so they could clean. How cute! Naturally, I took your advice and tried to snorkel in front of the condo one morning, fell all over the rocks, swam through seaweed and saw two little black fish before exiting with my hair full of seaweed. Probably the wrong place. Did do some great whale watching from the lanai, however, and one resident or visitor to the condos spotted a white Hawaiian seal in front of the condos, which he reported (the seal I mean) (grin). Hi Joe and Karen, This is our second time at your condo and this time was as enjoyable as the first. We LOVED watching the whales and spent every extra minute with our binoculars on the balcony! Your location is perfect in that it is right in the middle of everything. Some of our favorites this time include lunch at the Kula Lodge, the whale watch boat trip, the ferry trip to Lanai (rent a jeep, there is nothing else to do all day), the winery tour,and Haleakala. This was a perfect haven for our family winter getaway. With two kids plus granparents in tow there was plenty of room for everyone. We appreciated the many amenities as many condos are not as well stocked. All you'll need are some basic essentials and all the food and wine you intend to consume. If you have little ones you'll also appreciate the A/C for the odd day when they're prone to overheating. A/C is rare to find in many condos there. The view fron the lanai was spectacular and the beach right in front of the condo served us well for many early morning seashell hunting expeditions with my 3 year old. Joe is an amazing resource and I can't tell you how many emails we exchanged as he assisted me in planning this vacation. From our fishing expedition to luau and sunset drive adventure, he steered us in the right direction every time. The only downside was having to leave!

Six of my family members, ages 8yrs old through 61 yrs old, stayed at the Ma'alaea Banyans in July, 2007 for two weeks. We LOVED it for the following reasons: Our top priority when picking a condo was that it had to be OCEANFRONT. This condo, not only had a fantastic, panoramic view of the ocean, but we could, also, hear the waves lapping onto the shore! We, also, wanted a condo with AC just in case the weather was hot and humid. As it turned out, we never used the AC provided, because a wonderful breeze continually cooled the condo. A swimming beach was, also, something we wanted, and although we couldn't swim in the ocean directly in front of the condo, there was a nice swimming beach within a SHORT walking distance that had miles of uncrowded, white, sandy beach. We spent hours walking this beach, exploring tide pools and collecting shells. More perks we found while staying at this condo were all the things to do that were within walking distance. We loved the Ocean Center Aquarium where we bought a WEEK pass that cost only a few dollars more than a day pass. It was well worth the extra money, as we could visit any time during their hours of operation for one week from the date of purchase. This allowed us to come and go as much or as little as we wanted. It made a great filler for days when we went on short excursions to other parts of the island, or if we just wanted a little something to do on a relaxing day at the condo. There are lots of fun shops at the Ocean Center for those that like to shop, and some very good restaurants for those who like to eat. :) A miniature golf course and bumper boat park is, also, within walking distance. It is located right next door to a gas station, mini mart and fast food restaurant. The grandkids and BIG kids had many laughs at this park. When we went snorkeling at Molokini, we were even within walking distance of the dock where we boarded our boat for the trip. So as I said, there were LOTS of things to do within walking distance of this condo, yet it was peaceful and quiet. Last but not least, Joe was a virtual encyclopedia of info, and a pleasure to work with. He went over and above the call of duty in order to make our stay the very best it could be. Having a DSL connection was another added perk that we really appreciated. If you want a wonderful Maui experience, I highly recommend this quiet, oceanfront, centrally located condo. We LOVED it for the following reasons: Our top priority when picking a condo was that it had to be OCEANFRONT. This condo, not only had a fantastic, panoramic view of the ocean, but we could, also, hear the waves lapping onto the shore! We, also, wanted a condo with AC just in case the weather was hot and humid. As it turned out, we never used the AC provided, because a wonderful breeze continually cooled the condo. A swimming beach was, also, something we wanted, and although we couldn't swim in the ocean directly in front of the condo, there was a nice swimming beach within a SHORT walking distance that had miles of uncrowded, white, sandy beach. We spent hours walking this beach, exploring tide pools and collecting shells. More perks we found while staying at this condo were all the things to do that were within walking distance. We loved the Ocean Center Aquarium where we bought a WEEK pass that cost only a few dollars more than a day pass. It was well worth the extra money, as we could visit any time during their hours of operation for one week from the date of purchase. This allowed us to come and go as much or as little as we wanted. It made a great filler for days when we went on short excursions to other parts of the island, or if we just wanted a little something to do on a relaxing day at the condo. There are lots of fun shops at the Ocean Center for those that like to shop, and some very good restaurants for those who like to eat. :) A miniature golf course and bumper boat park is, also, within walking distance. It is located right next door to a gas station, mini mart and fast food restaurant. The grandkids and BIG kids had many laughs at this park. When we went snorkeling at Molokini, we were even within walking distance of the dock where we boarded our boat for the trip. So as I said, there were LOTS of things to do within walking distance of this condo, yet it was peaceful and quiet. Last but not least, Joe was a virtual encyclopedia of info, and a pleasure to work with. He went over and above the call of duty in order to make our stay the very best it could be. Having a DSL connection was another added perk that we really appreciated. If you want a wonderful Maui experience, I highly recommend this quiet, oceanfront, centrally located condo. My family and I would definitely stay here again.

Beutiful views from Condo, Liked location as it was between the Northern and Southern sections of the Island. Condo was great for the five of us. Pool and Jacuzi right next to Ocean.

Joe and Karen, Thank you again for the use of your great condo. Your condo is in the perfect location, walking distance to the harbor, and everything else is within 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic and what a view! It was nice not having to deal with the traffic in Kihei everyday! We do recommend the Pacific Whale Foundation's all day snorkel trip to Molokini and Lanai captain Steve and his crew were awesome! Our family enjoyed our stay in Maui so much that we're already dreaming about our next trip back. There are so many great things to do and see. After a long day of sightseeing, snorkelling, walking, shopping, or driving, the condo was like a home away from home. The weather was a lovely 75-80 degrees in December and only rained 2 out of 10 days. No whales yet in the bay but took a boat trip and found a pod. The condo is in a central location which allows easy access to whatever direction you need to travel on the island. A perfect vacation!

We had a wonderful time in Ma’alanea at Joe and Karen's condo - it is in a great location close to airport, Lahina, Kehi...It is equipped with everything needed for a vacation on Maui – including fins and masks for snorkeling and a blender for making pina coladas! My family really enjoyed the pool and hot tub, while I preferred the ocean. There are good restaurants within easy walking distance, as are the boats out to Molikini for snorkeling. The whales were not yet there, but the view from the lanai was great nonetheless.

We had a great time at Joe and Karen's condo for our son's wedding on Maui. We had friends from St. Maarten (where our son was born) travel all the way to Maui to stay with us. The condo was perfect. I enjoyed my coffee every morning on the terrace looking over at Haleakala. The tradewinds were so cool and comfortable that we never used the air conditioning and our daughter used the computer connection to do all her online homework for her Master's Degree program while we were there. The condo is a great location, central to everything and easy to find. Joe and Karen are perfect hosts and really easy to work with. We plan to come back (again and again).

We stayed at Joe and Karen's beachfront getaway from 5/20/06 -6/01/06. What a great location, the cool breeze from the Tradewinds was lovely as was the view from the Lanai. Maui is the best island to visit, plenty of things to do, beautiful views everywhere and wonderful people no matter where you where.We did helicopters,lauas,snorkeling,the winery,macadamia nut plantation,sugar cane museum, pineapple plantation and too may other things to list. Joe made sure we has as much or as little information that we wanted. The pool and jacussi were a welcoming relaxation upon returning from shopping or sightseeing.What a great vacation we had. The condo was perfect for our three generations get away in April.A TV for each of us when the long day was over. The location of the condo couldn't be better. You can tour the whole Island with the least amount of travel per day from this spot. Don't miss the Pacific Whale Foundation snorkle cruise. It is within walking distance from the condo. We saw whales , dolphins and sea turtles.The only thing negative was having to leave.

WOW! What can we say? This was better than we could imagine! From my first email to Joe about renting this condo, he provided over and above all the info we needed about the condo and Maui. The condo was spotless, comfortable, well furnished, private, beautiful and had plenty of room for 6 of us. The view from the Lanai was fantastic. The pool was clean and clear, very relaxing and the grounds were lovely and well kept. High speed internet access was one of my favorite perks! We stayed in the Maui condo for a week in early March, which is a glorious time to visit. It's still whale-watching season, so there's a lot to see from the lanai. The condo proved perfect for us. We had a 6-month-old baby with us and the Dorseys were great about making sure there was a port-a-crib for the little guy. It was a wonderful week in a wonderful place.

We stayed in Joe and Karen's condo from January 28th - February 11th. The condo was perfect and Joe and Karen are great about making sure everything is ready when you arrive and that you are happy with your stay. The whales put on quite a show! The weather was nice, a few rainy cloudy days, but still warm. But, Maui is beautiful no matter the weather! Many Mahalos for a great "home away from home."

We spent December 23 - 31, 2005 at the condo and had a wonderful time. Joe and Karen are such wonderful hosts. The condo was very clean. What a view! We watched a mother whale and her baby playing almost every day. During our visit, we couldn't have "special ordered" better weather with not a single bad day. Whether waiting for the sun to rise over Haleakala or dancing under the stars on the lanai, there could be no more beautiful spot than here in Ma'alaea in this condo. The condo itself is spacious, spotless and well equipt with cool ocean breezes that tickle you as you lie in the sun. The walk on the beach is endless and breathtaking and the owners are no less than passionately in love with Maui and committed to making sure you having a good time! Aloha (Grin)This was our first trip to Maui and the Dorseys Made it amazing. From the time we began looking joe made it affordable for us with detailed emails from what to do on maui and how to cut expenses. Their place was clean comfortable with three rooms, DSL, and amazing view from the "Lanai" Porch (even better then the pictures on the site).
