A trullo is an ancient stone building particular to Central Puglia. It has a circular, or square base and a cone-shaped cupola usually finished with a whitewashed pinnacle. The cupola was formed using specially hand cut stones (chianche) laid in slightly decreasing circles creating a balance requiring no cement. Because of the structure and materials used, a "thermos" effect is created inside the trulli so that the temperature remains warm in winter and cool in the hottest summer months.
Our trulli are located in the area of Castellana Grotte, at only 10 minutes driving from the beautiful sea of Polignano a Mare and Monopoli, and also from Alberobello "the city of trulli". Our house consists of a group of six trulli, originally built on the 17th century, have been recently restored according to the provisions settled by the EEC law on environmental protection.
Our guests will find in our trulli all the comforts of a typical apulian country house: dining room, kitchen, a living corner with fireplace, two double and one single bedroom, bathroom with tub, washing machine.
The trulli are finely furnished and attended every year by the most demanding visitors. We care for the safety and peace of our guests, as well: the house is equipped also with a small safe. Housekeeping service is available upon request. |
