The girls in our family (22 of us, moms, daughters, granddaughters, aunts & cousins, from age 71 to 15) try to get together every year for a girls getaway. This year instead of staying in a hotel, we decided to do something different and look for a rental house that could accommodate our large group. We were so happy to find this cabin and just spent a wonderful fun weekend together. The house was even more beautiful than the pictures, and the view of the lake from the huge great room is just breath taking! Seeing the sunrise and watching the freighters go by – its so peaceful and relaxing. Taking a walk on the beach, picking up rocks, enjoying the lake….a great stress reliever! The bedrooms had plenty of pillows & blankets, the beds were very comfortable and we had plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen is very large & roomy, and was fully stocked with everything you could possible need. The large kitchen table was perfect for dinners and playing board games. The younger girls in our group made good use of the pool table and other games in the basement and we all enjoyed a bonfire in the front of the house, and then moved inside to enjoy the fireplace in the great room. I would highly recommend this cabin for any kind of family get together or get away weekend. We enjoyed it so much, we are already planning to return next year.
Owner response:Thank You. Peter G.

I had my wedding here on 9/10/11 and everything was amazing! The log cabin is HUGE and GORGEOUS! It was neat and clean and the view from the living room cannot be beat. We had an outdoor wedding here overlooking the water and it was breathtaking. I heard numerous times from different people at my wedding how beautiful everything was and they said it was way more than they ever expected when I originally told them I was getting married at a log cabin. Peter was very nice and always available when I called. I have no complaints and we are definitely going to come back for an anniversary or reunion :)

During the first week of July 2011 our family gathered to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. There were 20 of us...our four children, their spouses, and our 10 grandchildren; some in Michigan, some from Minnesota, and some from North Carolina. During the week we had made arrangements to have family photos taken. As a surprise for us, they had secretly planned a "wedding"! they contacted a dear friend who is a priest that we have know for almost 48 years, and he came to celebrate our "wedding". There was special music, flowers, white netting bows on the trees, candles and a ceremony on the lawn overlooking the lake. It was beyond anything we expected or dreamed of. Although that was probably the highlight of the week, we had many other precious moments as well. Our son brought his boat up so there was tubing and wakeboarding, and just fun! The grandchildren range in ages from 21 down to 7 and they had a wonderful time spending face-to-face time together, not just "facebook" time together. The TV was on one time the last evening for a DVD movie. The accommodations were wonderful, everything was as expected and even more. If we had any concerns or questions, we just called Peter, the owner, and he had Scott, the caretaker, come over and handle the concerns. As we were getting ready to leave on the Saturday morning, there were many requests, "Grandma, can we do this again next year?" It may not be next year, but I hope it will happen again some time! Thank you for sharing your amazing log home with us. It was week that exceeded our expectations!!

Hi there everyone - I am writing as a bride who was just recently married on June 18th here at the lake house. I am speaking from every single person (125 people) who was there at our wedding - We couldn't have picked a more beautiful, private and accommodating place for our wedding and reception. We made a 3 day weekend out of it and rented the house from Thursday until Sunday. Thursday, my husband's groomsmen and ushers came out as well as my bridesmaids. That night we did our bachelor/bachelorette parties and the property and home was big enough for us all to be doing our own thing without interferring. After a night of good times and celebrating, Friday was our work day. We had our family members and close friends of the family who were staying at the house come out and help us decorate and get the wedding scene started. That evening we had our rehearsal, rehearsal dinner & gifts right at the house. After all was said and done for the evening, all of us just chilled out around the bon fire, on the beach, played games in the basement, and relaxed. Saturday came around and our big day was here! We all had fun getting ready together and visiting with our wedding guests as they started to arrive. We had our ceremony in the sand down on the beach facing the water (it was breath-taking!) and our reception in the back yard (under a big tent we rented) overlooking the beautiful Lake Huron. We have been getting compliments for weeks now about how beautiful, unique and fun it was for those who attended the wedding and from those who stayed with us at the beach house. It was so wonderful (and that is an understatement) to have all that moral support and helping hands in those days leading up to our wedding, and every person who stayed there with us has thanked us for giving them a mini vacation away from daily stress. We have been told by multiple people that this was the best idea for a wedding party and new family to really get to know each other and be able to fully celebrate together once our big day came. I want to re-live this experience all over again! And in fact, we have already heard from everyone who had stayed with us, that they want to book another weekend this fall to get us all together again as a little reunion. I can't say enough good things about this house, and about Peter who has been very easy to work with! Thank you for EVERYTHING - This home holds memories that will stay with us all forever. You will not regret!

The house was as beautiful as the pictures and the view of the lake was awesome. It was very clean and extremely roomy. We had a glitch that the home owner took care of as promptly time would allow. The extra sitting rooms were a bonus and a place to get away from the others when you wanted a little quiet time. It is also set far enough off the road that you couldn't hear the road noise. I would recommend this to anyone, in fact our group - which is 4 couples - are considering coming back next year. Do remember that being right on the lake, it is cooler,, especailly of the wind is out of the north or the east, so may need extra clothing. Had a great time!!! Thanks for sharing your home.

Every year the same group of guys (now 40 yr olds) go away in June on a golf trip. This year we had 20 of us and the cottage had plent of room for all of us. When the group arrived, one by one they commented on how great the place was. I looked like a hero for finding this place. It had almost everything we needed when it came to cooking, plenty of room when feeding a large group and different areas where we could lounge ie fire pits, beach and decks. We also had enough room to get away from each other when needed. Everyone took pictures and I'm sure have recommended the cottage to their friends and families. For weeks after we got back, I had people approaching me and talking about what they had heard about the cottage. As I said beyond expectations. Thanks Peter!!

We rented this house for a Hockey Tournament weekend in Port Huron. There were 6 adults and 5 kids. The house was so much more than we expected. Gorgeous. Very comfortable. Plenty of space. The kids loved it, we loved it. Easy drive to Port Huron. The owners were great. Everything was provided. When it snowed, the owner had a plow come and clear the snow out for us. They even provided firewood for the fireplace. I would highly recommend this house.

Peter, Thank you so much for opening your rental to our family. We have been vacationing in the Lexington area for almost 25 years now with about 25 family members. Your home was the nicest we have stayed at and most accomidating. We have several small children and were amazed at all the toys, high chairs, and etc. that made our experience even better. We will definitly be back next year. Bryan

This house is amazing. From the moment you first walk in you feel at home and that's one of the best compliments I think any hotel/resort can recieve. It easily accomodated our extremely large family for our holiday festivites and the holiday decorations left out by the owners (giant xmas tree included) added to the whole ambience of the weekend. We fully intend to return sometime soon, there has been talk of a summer reunion and we all look forward to seeing this site in the summer! I give it 19 stars on a scale of 10.

Our family of 21 had a fabulous 4 day Thanksgiving weekend at this lodge There was ample room for sleeping arrangements and all the beds were freshly made with cleann comforters and pillows (you need to bring your own sheets and pillowcases). Bathrooms were stocked with plenty of bath towels, wash cloths, etc. The place was very clean, and the kitchen was completely equipped to put on a great Thanksgiving spread - cooking utensils, dinnerware, etc., it was all there for 21 + people! The owner even had the place decked out for the holidays - gigantic real Christmas tree and trimmings around the lodge. We will definitely be back! Thank you Peter.

"Wow" is what came out of our mouths when we arrived at this log home (affectionatley dubbed "The Lodge") We had relatives in from Germany over the Labor Day Holiday, and I wanted a place that showcased Michigan and the Great Lakes, as well as someplace comfortable and roomy enough for my immediate family, our visitors and some friends. What a beautiful home, the knotty pine throughout was very rustic "Michigan" and whomever built this paid great attention to every detail...slate bathroom floors, to modern kitchen appliances, stunning natural stone fireplace - with an amazing view of Lake Huron, sandy beach, a big yard to play in and miles of beach accessible for my morning walks. Just a few minutes out of charming Lexington, we also enjoyed taking our guests to town for shopping, and lucky us - the Thumb music festival and an Art show were happening when we were there - lots to do and see. Discovered that the local market carried lots of fresh Michigan produce, and perfect time of year to indulge in Michigan sweet corn, berries, apples...more. Two fire pits on beach & up near the house were used a lot...we had amazing weather with sunrises and moonrises every day and evening. The house was very kid-friendly and lots of entertainment opportunities...no one was ever bored. We had such a great time we asked the owner if he could extend our stay, which he accomodated with short notice...Thank you again. Was a wonderful time and great memory for our guests. Maria

Our family just spent a wonderful week at this beautiful home for our family reunion -all four generations! We had plenty of room for everyone - spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is large and well equipped. We enjoyed many family meals around the table. A great place to gather for cards or board games too. Great time around the campfire at night for smores or star gazing. Gorgeous view of the sunrise in the morning and freighter watching in the distance as they came and went all week along. The beach was great for the little ones - playing in the water & the sand. Lovely deck overlooking the beach and view of the lake. The basement has plenty of room for kids to play with foosball & pool table which helped pass the time on a day too cool to be outside. Lexington is a lovely town with friendly people and only 5 mintues away. We look forward to returning next year and highly recommend this home for a relaxing week away.

We had a family reunion using this house for 17 of our 27 people. It worked out fine, even with poor weather. The pool table and ping pong table were used a lot. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is plenty of sleeping space. The house was very clean. We had a power outage and the owner responded promptly by getting a generator hooked up. Of course the power came back on 15 minutes later. Overall, we had a good experience and if we do another reunion in the Lexington area, we'll try to get this house again.

This is a review of a guys weekend fishing\golf trip. We had about 13 guys stay for 3 nights. The cabin was a nice huge log cabin that had plenty of room to fit all of us. It was not dirty as was previously mentioned in the review previously by one of our group members. Also the Bed Sheets not being included was not the fault of the owner since this was noted on the website (our fault for overlooking it). Great place for entertaining a lot of people. the other minor things that were mentioned were petty and the owner said that a simple phone call would have remedied some of the nuisances such as the propane tank being empty. Over all we were pleased with the Cabin and our vacation even though the weather was cold! This review was a consensus of all the members that went on the vacation during this time. Thanks for the Good Time!

I was surprised by this property..not in a good way... Upon arriving, The property appeared to be in disrepair. Things such as the screen doors were broken (wood and screens) no bedsheets, propane tank in the grill was empty, ant problem in the upstairs bathroom, tv remotes sometimes worked, fireplace was full of half-burnt logs...overall the place was quite dirty...Stay at you own risk..On the upside, the beach view was great!

As a psychotherapist who facilitates Renewal Retreats, www.marlaruhana.com, I have been renting this house to facilitate my retreats for years! In fact, I love this space so much, I have utilized this LOVELY, CLEAN, SPACIOUS home for 17 of my relatives! There is No WAY to feel bad here. Everything is Tranquil! A Feng Shui expert who facilitated at previous retreat even stated that this home had amazing Feng Shui! This home soothes not only my soul but all who attend my retreats have said the same on my satisfaction surveys! In fact, attendees like it here so much, they have become repeat attendees and make my retreats to this log cabin an annual getaway! Many attendees have rented this home for their own families. The homeowner has been extremely gracious and accomodating and has ALWAYS gone above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. This home is always very clean, never ever seen any bugs or ants, always have firewood and everything we need! I will continue to facilitate retreats in this home! Not only is it absolutely beautiful with great accomodations and waterfront view/access, my 20 retreat attendees have always been extremely pleased! Great kitchen, lovely great room, downtown Lexington is awesome, beautiful drive to this property and layout and amenities of this log cabin home are spectacular! I give this home and its owner a 5 star rating and will continue to host retreats here in the future!!!!!!!!!

One of the most memorable times in my life. I am a military mother of two (Army & Air Force), one son was in Iraq and the other is stationed in England. We rented the cabin for our Christmas in 2007, the first time we have all be together as a family in 5 years (all of us in ONE STATE). My son (Army) was home from Iraq (His 3rd tour of deployment) & was able to see his daughter for the first time since she was born 5 months ago. I was also able to meet my other sons Fiancée from England, the experience was one we will remember and cherish forever. I can not say enough about the Cabin, it is beautiful, tranquil, and just a home of PEACE. Please do not hesitate a moment, to spend precious time with your loved ones or just a special place to call your own. The Caretaker and the Owners are just wonderful and special people, this place is worth every penny. Do not hesitate to email me if this is not enough for you.

We rented this beautiful log home to celebrate our family's 2006 Christmas Get-together & could not have been more pleased! Not only does this lodge offer the space necessary to accomadate all of our 17 family members comfortably, but it has an absolutely gorgeous private setting which offers plenty of bonuses!! The children had plenty of play/running room in the full basement with lots of recreational activities & the adults had plenty of quiet/gathering room in the huge main room upstairs. An absolute must see!! Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy your home!! The Potters

Our family has vacationed together for 23 years, and this home ranks as one of the BEST homes we have ever had the pleasure of renting. The home is large enough for everyone to have their own space, yet has large areas in which we could enjoy the family together. The VIEW IS B-E-A-UTIFUL, and absoultly gorgeous at sunrise... The owners are wonderful and accomodating... we recommend this home highly, we can't WAIT to go back.. the only downfall is that we can't live there permanently! THANK YOU!
