The Hamlet of Montebuoni with tennis and pool - Discover the enchanting splendour of Tuscany, deep in the heart of Italy. Sitting on a ridge overlooking the fabulous Tuscan countryside with its olive groves and vineyards, is the undiscovered Hamlet of Montebuoni. A cluster of private self catering villas and apartments sit amongst olive groves and beautiful planted gardens. Montebuoni was once a large estate producing wine and olives, and It is these original buildings which have been restored and modernised to a very high standard, whilst still maintaining many original features. All the villas are fully furnished and well equipped with their own private terrace or garden. A typical Chianti village is within walking distance, and for those who wish to explore further the hamlet is ideally located for day excursions to Florence and Siena. Many typical Chianti towns and villages are dotted around the area offering fabulous food and wine. Not to be missed is a weekly wine tasting!

Wine tasting Tour: What were the highlights of your holiday?

Getting away from it all, yet being well situated to explore the
Chianti area - all the places we wanted to see such as Siena, San
Gimignano and Castellina are easily accessible. We went to the
Wednesday wine tasting which was great fun. Daniela was great, and
we met some really nice people. We got together again for a drink by
the pool on the Friday evening!

Highlights: The wonderful hill towns of the area and the great food and provisions. The weather was beautiful the whole two weeks except one day. Can't complain about that. We went to the Wednesday wine and food tasting and it was very special. The wines and olive oil and the food prepared were excellent. We met some very nice people and stuck up friendships that, I am sure, will last a long time.
Unpleasant surprises: None.

Private House - Shared Pool - tennis 4 people - 1 bathroom L'Oliveta is a detached cottage built from hand crafted Tuscan stone, set in an olive grove, with its own large private gardens. The interior has oak beamed ceilings and tiled terracotta floors throughout. The front door leads directly into the comfortably furnished lounge/diner with sofa, chairs, TV and dining suite. This room really is the hub of the property, with doors leading to the bedroom, bathroom with shower, gardens and kitchen, which is fully fitted, with electric oven, gas hobs, fridge with freezer compartment and dishwasher. The twin bedded room has its own private terrace with table and chairs, perfect for a quiet leisurely breakfast or sitting with a glass of wine in the evening. The second bedroom with double bed is adjacent to the lounge and has a window with views to the garden. Access to the garden is from the lounge where you can enjoy magnificent views across the Tuscan countryside.

We have visited Italy several times over the last ten ten years and L'Oliveta is are favourite spot. We were greatly pleased when we returned last year to find that it had remodeled and updated, particularly with the addition of its own washing maching. Although it is part of Hamlet Montebuoni which has several apartments, L'Oliveta is a separate building with a private patio and garden where you can relax and read a book or enjoy the view of the Chianti hills over lunch or a glass of wine at the end of the day. L'Oliveta is a great place to use as a base to tour the many small Chianti towns several of which are within 10 to 20 minutes drive and are great places to visit for shopping or to have a nice lunch or dinner. Our two favourite restaurants are 5 minutes away in San Sano and Lecchi and there is great opportunities for wine tasting nearby. Siena is about 30 minutes and San Gimignano and Florence about 1 hour by care. There are too many places to list but others that are easy to access are Cortona and Voltera.

Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
