My wife and I stayed in this Condo in June of 2007 for our 10th anniversary. To us, this was the perfect place to stay. We were on the 5th floor with a perfect view of the ocean and sunsets. It was so relaxing at night just to leave the balcony doors open and listen to the ocean. The beach is not crowded...more deserted. Most of the time, there was no more the 20-30 people on the beach. At night, you could see the shadows of the sea turtles swimming around. Not only do I recommed this place, my wife and I fully intend to save up enough money to make it back....we are spoiled. As far as it being in Makaha, no big deal. We originally thought it was going to be, but it turned out fine. At night, there was a garage band playing some tropical music. We normally went out of Makaha to eat, just because we wanted to. It was nice to have your own parking spot.

My wife and I celebrated our 20th anniversary here, and our stay was fantastic. We chose Makaha beach because of its location away from the crowded city beaches near Waikiki; it's on the drier side of the island, where we could watch the sun set each evening. We liked the Makaha Beach Cabanas because of their location right on the beach, and because the facilities were contemporary and well maintained. We chose this condo because of the king bed, which overlooked the beach and those fantastic sunsets. The unit itself was well appointed, clean and just the right size for two. For us, the non-touristy location was perfect; although it was easy to tell we were visitors, we felt comfortable dining, shopping and relaxing along with the local folks. When we were in the mood to see the sights, we were only an hour or two drive away from any point on the island. The condo's owners are exceptionally helpful if you need it, and have gone to great lengths to ensure that your visit is as trouble free as possible, and that you have as much information as you need to really enjoy your stay. On top of everything else, the room rates are so reasonable compared to other places. If you're looking for a nice, quiet, piece of paradise where you can get away from it all, this is the place for you.

It's away from Waikiki, and, probably, in the most peaceful part of the island. The condo is very nice and cozy, furnished and accessorized with love and good taste! Has everything one would need for a comfortable stay: beach towels, kitchen equipment, comfortable beds etc. And it has an AMAZING view! Watching sunset from the balcony should be added to '100 things to do before you die' list :) Many-many thanks to the owner!!!

If you want to be away from the congestion of traffic and people, then this is the perfect place to be. The condo sits right on the ocean. It was very clean and had everything you need for your home away from home. The beach was beautiful, clean, and very remote from the other beaches. Pam (the owner) was extremely helpful and provided excellent customer service. We did not spend time cooking in the condo, but everything you need to cook meals were provided, we found going out to eat was our thing and the food in Hawaii was very good.

My husband and I just got back from 15 nights in Hawaii (8 in Maui [Kehei] and 7 in Oahu [Makaha]) to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, and we had a wonderful time! This facility was just what we were looking for! Being able to listen to the ocean while going to sleep; watching the waves, whales, and turtles while sitting on the lanai! It was clean, comfortable, and totally safe. The beach was very sparsely utilized and it was fantastic! The condo has been updated recently and is very comfortable. Whereas this condo is located away from the 'hustle and bustle' of the highly populated areas, it was 1/2- to 1-hour away from most tours/functions; but that is not a problem considering the positives of the condo. If you want to have the opportunity to enjoy the island and time with one another, this is perfect! If you are more interested in being the the 'thick of things' (e.g., shopping, the crush of people, fighting the traffic), then staying in Honolulu might be a better choice for you. When we return to Oahu, we really would like to stay at Makaha again!

We had a really nice time with few complaints. To start the area is not your normal vacation spot. There are some slums in the area, and the crime seemed to be higher than other places on the island. That being said it is in a gated community and we never felt unsafe. In the middle of the night (almost every night) there were sirens for random fires or police calls. Another thing is seems everyone owns a chicken and most crow all day long. With that out of the way let me say you will not find a better view of the sunset or ocean on the island. The sunsets are amazing, and the water is right outside on a private beach. We went to Waikiki a few times and we saw how crowded the beaches are, and it made us appreciate the condo. Another thing is the private beach seemed cleaner, one local said you don't have the tons of sun block in the water when compared to Waikiki. Don't let the surrounding slums, or dirty elevator scare you away, the condo itself is very modern, very clean and comes with plenty of extras. It had a very commutative feel, with the cupboards half full of spices, and amenities from the previous guests. We never had to buy shampoo conditioner or soap while we were there because it was left from before. We wanted to give back so we bought a few boogie boards, used them and then left them for the next set of guests to enjoy. The internet was wired and was fast enough. The TV didn't have tons of channels but we hardly watched it. The community BBQ is also a very nice stainless steel gas one. If you stay here definitely try the L&L Hawaiian BBQ, and the Shrimp Steaks down the street. And go to the local market as well. On Sundays there is a farmer's market that I regret we missed but it is also close by. It was nice to see regular Hawaii and not just the tourist side.

The condo was just lovely! It contained much more in the way of supplies than I had expected and everything was so clean and fresh! The king size bed was very comfortable and it was just such a treat to wake up each morning to that gorgeous ocean view and sound of the surf! This beach is great! From the lanai I saw turtles swimming every morning and one morning I even saw a whale splashing far out in the water! Once as I was snorkeling I found myself swimming right above a sea turtle--that was incredible! All this right from this condo area! The building staff and residents were very friendly, and the laundry room was large, clean and well maintained. The owner provided excellent customer service; she was just a joy to work with! The only bad thing was that the hide-a-bed was extremely saggy, so much so that we had to put the mattress on the floor every night in order for my sons to be able to sleep on it. Hopefully, that will be replaced soon (if it hasn't been already). Other than that, though, everything was exceptional! I'd definitely recommend this place to others, and I hope to stay there again myself one day! Staying in this charming little condo made my first trip to Hawaii just that much more memorable.

This is a clean condo with nice furnishings. The view of the ocean is a 10...you couldn't ask for anything better from your balcony. We slept with the sliding door open every night so we could hear the waves. You have direct access to the beach which seemed to be pretty private. We never saw more than a dozen people on it. The sand was great. The currents are slightly strong but they seemed to be about the same at every beach on Oahu. We saw plenty of families with small kids playing in the waves and nobody ever seemed to have a problem. The water on this beach is pretty clear too. I saw people snorkeling but I didn't do it myself. I did see a turtle swimming around from my balcony though. There's a large rock formation that you can walk out on for a nice view of the waves and water. However, I wouldn't walk out there alone or at night because there are a handful of homeless guys that live in the bushes there. They don't appear to bother to anyone. I never saw them interact with any one and they never came onto the beach. They said hi as we walked by. We never went down to the beach at night tho. There were a few random people we saw walking around down there at night. The beach is pretty well lit at night by the lights on the buildings. Also, on your way driving to the makaha, you pass a homeless camp on the highway. Nothing bothersome, just not very pretty to look at. The unit does not have AC. There are consistent trade winds that blow through the condo. All you have to do is crack open the front windows and the sliding glass door to the balcony and they will blow right through, keeping the place fairly cool. The breezes do not hit the bed because it's tucked behind a wall, so if you don't like to be warm when you sleep, you may not like that part about the condo. The condo is located in Makaha which seemed like pleasant enough of a place. It takes about 40-60 min to get to any other part of the island (North Shore, Waikiki, etc). This really wasn't a problem to me. Just plan on driving everyday to get to attractions & sites. There's really not a lot to do in Makaha. The condo complex is private and secure. You need a key/scanner to get in the front gate, the building, the elevator, and the beach. If you're standing in the living room or kitchen, you can hear traffic going by on the highway but if you're in the bedroom, the waves deafen that sound. The condo was good for the price I was charged but I'm not allowed to post that amount in my review.

Very nice property which was advertised correctly. No disapointments here. Everything that was offered was true. Clean and well appointed. Sofa bed was quite lumpy but King was in great shape. Due to lack of trade winds we had a hard time sleeping without airconditioning. Saw turtles most every day. Beach was uncrowded most of the time. Monday was the busiest day with about 30 to 40 people on the beach. Most evenings it was deserted.Overall, it was a great place to stay if you can live without air-conditioning.

Description of property excellent! The owner was pleasant and informative. Her follow-up was great. I would recommend this property. Basically your own private beach. Clean, quiet and beautiful! Secure and convenient parking. The people we met within the building were friendly and helpful. Appreciated the notebook in the room that detailed local attractions including the Tamura supermarket. Loved that the bed faced the lanai that looked out to the ocean. The room was neat and clean other than the fridge. Only improvement I would recommend is that the cleaning lady could address some cleaning detail to the inside of the refrigerator. The beach was beautiful! Very private. Great breakfast at Makaha Country Club Resort in the valley. The property itself is well taken care of. Thanks for a pleasant experience!
