Our family had a wonderful week on the Cape. The house is small, but fit our needs very well especially with the good sized kitchen since we cooked in a lot. The backyard is beautifully landscaped and offered a nice quiet place to sit after the beach. The location is tremendous with easy access to beaches, Provincetown and Route 6. The owners were helpful when needed. Thanks Roger and Marilyn!Owner response: We enjoyed meeting you all!. So glad you had a wonderful time!

This house is our home away from home when we visit the Cape! This is the 4th year we have stayed at Roger and Marilyn's cottage and everything about it makes our vacation special! The house is always clean and ready for our arrival, and my daughter cannot wait to get out in the backyard to use the swing and to enjoy the fish pond that Roger has created! The location is perfect with the beach a short walk away, a pond to fish at or enjoy the wildlife even closer and a quick drive over to Highland Light house! Roger and Marilyn are always very attentive and no request is left unfilled. The house itself is comfortable, clean and in excellent condition. One of my worries with rentals is the wear and tear on the place due to the large number of people in there throughout the seasons, but at 13 Pond Road, everything is in perfect order! It feels like my own home and I look forward to many more great summers at Cape Cod! Thanks Roger and Marilyn!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: We look forward every June to seeing Brenda and Shaun and their daughter Joycelyn. They are delightful guests!

This is the third summer we have rented Roger and Marilyn’s home for a week and we love it. The home is located within walking distance to a pond, the bay beach, a small market and cafe, the library and a park. It is a short drive (or flat bike ride) to the National Seashore and ocean beaches. The backyard is fantastic with a beautiful fish pond, a swing and short wooded path perfect for kids to explore. This beautifully restored home is well equipped with cable tv, WiFi, comfortable furniture, linens, washer/dryer and dishwasher. The master bedroom (with attached bath) is a great size and the two smaller bedrooms are perfect for kids. Marilyn and Roger are incredibly gracious and very responsive to any requests we’ve had – last year we discovered the grill wasn’t working and Roger replaced it the same day. If you’re looking for a comfortable, relaxed, family friendly and truly charming Cape Cod home in a perfect location, this is your place.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
Owner response: We look forward to seeing Cate and Jeff, with their daughter, and now their baby son, who we have not met yet, the Fourth of July week. They are our regulars! They start off the summer for us on the right note!

We have been visiting this part of Cape Cod for over 30 years. We usually stay with family but due to wedding guests we had to find someplace else to stay. We researched several properties in the area on VRBO and we settled on this one. When we got there we knew that we had made the right decision! Roger and Marilyn were very gracious hosts and toured us through the house and property, making us feel very much at home. A lot of work and care has been put into the property and it's renovation. As an historic property it is full of vintage Cape Cod charm and we would not hesitate to stay there again if the need should arise. It's walking distance to the bay and Coast Guard Beach is a short bike or car ride away.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: It was a pleasure having you stay with us, Gary, Debra and John. We look forward to seeing you when you visit again. Do stop by and see us!

My young boys and I arrived here in the evening, said hello to the owner and almost immediately left to have dinner with family. When we came back later, I noticed the downstairs bathroom had not been cleaned properly (with hair in the sink and "personal" hair on the toilet). I grabbed one of their (extremely worn) towels to wipe up and sand fell off the towel, making me wonder if it had been laundered. My boys hopped into bed and mentioned there was "stuff" in the sheets - hopefully just sand, but...? I then went into the upstairs bathroom and saw the dried urine around the base of the (non-functioning) toilet and also on the wall next to the toilet. The floors were not clean and rugs not vacuumed. The 3 of us left late that night and stayed elsewhere. I emailed the owners after we left that night stating that the house was too dirty to stay in and that it would not work for us. I offered to pay for that night, even though we had to make other arrangements. I came back in the morning to get our belongings and to show the owner the issues. Roger admitted to knowing that the toilet didn't work but "You know how hard it is to get someone out here" was his excuse for not getting it fixed. He said that he had steam cleaned the bathroom 5 times prior to our arrival and that WE must have made that mess. I asked for my deposit back (1/2 of the cost of the week) and Marilyn refused to return it! She yelled at me to get off of her property and followed me around until I did. She was a very nasty person (though Roger seemed to be a little less aggressive). I am currently in mediation with them (through "Consumer Advocate Council" if anyone needs them in the future!). I took photos to prove how dirty the house was. These people do not have a clue as to how to rent a vacation property. I honestly can't imagine anyone who would find this place acceptable. Even people who are there to "party" would have a hard time there. There are other much nicer places to rent in North Truro. This place is a dump.Owner response: It is true there was a problem with the upstairs toilet. It has been fixed. That is the only truth in Kristen’s review. We thoroughly clean the house before a renter arrives. This includes steam cleaning both bathrooms. It was clear Kristen was not interested in renting from us as soon as she entered the house. Others ask questions about the restoration and speak glowingly about it, but Kristen was silent and showed no interest. The next day it was apparent she could stay with her relatives just up the street for free. If she had explained to us that she had an alternative living arrangement with relatives, and asked not to be held to her commitment to pay $400 on arrival for a week’s stay, we would have understood. She did not do that. Instead she came up with a ruse to get her deposit back, making up non-existent problems. She told us, prior to renting it, that she had a rental in California. She indicated to us she was keenly aware of the damage a scorching review could do if she did not get her deposit back. “I’ll make if difficult for you to ever rent again,” she told us. We do not approve of extortion. We are sure, when the better angels of her nature return, she will regret writing this false review.

My wife, daughter and myself stayed here and were very please. Daughter got marrried in a cute church just 2 doors away. Home was clean and owner was very accomadating. Plenty of towels, and short walk to beach. Strongly recommend. Great location.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
