I planned a two week vacation for myself and my two grown daughters as a special treat. This apartment made everything perfect. It was cozy, spacious and perfectly situated in the Marais. We could easily get to anywhere because there was a Metro stop just up the block. We could also walk to any number of lovely restaurants, not just French cuisine, but also Italian, Thai, and others. There is a convenient grocery store on the street, and a boulangerie just on the corner. The entrance to the apartment is inside a quiet courtyard, so there is absolutely no street noise. Staying in the apartment was lovely. The linens on the bed were extra soft and sumptuous, and the two day beds in the living room were ideal for my daughters. They were also very comfortable. There were plenty of lights, and closet space with good hangers, and drawers in which to store our clothing so we did not have to live out of suitcases. The bathroom is plenty big. You can't tell from the photos, but it is full size and again, plenty of cabinets and drawers. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a meal and extra things you might not have thought of. When we arrived, the place was spotless and a delightful bowl of fruit and treats was waiting on the kitchen table. One word of warning: the door! Push a little extra to get in. We thought we had locked ourselves out and phoned Marie to help us. She promptly sent a locksmith to tend to the situation, but amusingly, we just didn't push on the door hard enough. Everything worked out fine, and Marie couldn't have tended to the situation any quicker. She came to check on us later, and was very kind about our mishap. We could have stayed anywhere, but we were blessed with this apartment. And I will try to get it again next time I plan a trip to Paris.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

This Saint-Gilles apartment is exemplary: from its charming, warm and helpful hosts, the easy booking process, the quiet courtyard, the spacious living space, ample closet space (linens, iron, everything has been thought of), full kitchen, full-sized bathtub, high ceilings. And best of all is the location, a stone's throw from Place des Voges, the métro, grocery stores and boulangeries and lovely neighbourhood bars and restaurants, as well as the Marais galleries. I couldn't recommend it more highly.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We were extremely satisfied with the property. The location was brilliant being close to the metro and Marais is a very special place with many shops and restaurants. The property was the cleanest we have ever stayed in and on arrival there was a welcome bowl of fruit and chocolate. Also coke, orange juice and bottled water in the fridge! The apartment had anything we needed including an umbrella! We didn't see the owner that often but he helped with any questions we had at the time. We would absolutely recommend this property as it was also recommended to us.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

My boyfriend and I stayed in Mathias' apartment for 9 nights in November, and had a great experience. I would highly recommend it. The apartment is big by Parisian standards, clean, nicely appointed, very quiet, and well located. It is on the first floor, so it is easy to carry suitcases up to it; it has a comfortable queen sized bed, which are not common in France; and the bathroom and kitchen are generously sized. There is a metro stop about a block and a half away, a boulangerie on the corner, and a good supermarket a block away. There are good restaurants nearby, and it is an easy walk to the Place des Voges and into the heart of the Marais. There is a huge food market on Sundays a few blocks away. Mathias was very helpful and quick to respond, and it was easy to get access to the apartment when we arrived. I can't wait to go back.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We expected the apartment to be good but it far exceeded our expectations. The bed was extremely comfortable with lovely sheets. Plenty of towels and bath robes, too. The kitchen was wonderful, which was very important to us as we cooked most nights during our two-week stay. Everything worked like a charm. The outdoor farmers market on Beaumarchais, which I believe to be the best in Paris was a short walk away. Another (indoor/outdoor) market, Aligre, was also within walking distance for the days the Beaumarchais market was not open. In these markets are fascinating to stroll through even if you are not buying food. The location was not only good for the markets. There is a small Metro stop a very short block away and the very large Bastille metro stop is just a few blocks further, so getting around Paris was quite easy. The neighborhood itself was a great place to stay. Place de Vosges is maybe five short blocks away. We discovered another area, previously unknown to us, a few blocks east of the apartment. It is very lively scene for happy hour, which assumes the French have adopted with gusto. Lots of young and not so young Parisians indulging in one of their favorite pastimes, people watching. There are a couple smaller streets which specialize in late-night bars, many quite trendy. Back to the apartment: it was very comfortable for us and would work well for a couple with two children or possibly two couples. Another plus: always plenty of hot water. Excellent double paned windows made for sleeping well. No elevator, but the apartment is only one floor of from street level. The windows overlooked a simple courtyard. Plenty of light. Everything was clean and well-maintained. The owner was very helpful in arranging a taxi at the end of our stay and throughout the two weeks we were there. Booking the studio was simple and straightforward, with questions answered promptly and clearly. One note: the fireplace is not a working fireplace. That said, I doubt that there are many working fireplaces in Paris. We would recommend this apartment to pretty much anyone.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 week stay in this apartment. It was comfortable, modern and roomy and exactly as represented on the website. The location was very central but the apartment is really quiet. Marie Jagou was a perfect hostess and helped us out with restaurant suggestions etc. We ended up mostly eating at Le Petit Marche or Chez Janou, depending on who had the better lunchtime special. We would happily stay here again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I would recommend this apartment. Central location in a great neighbourhood - le Marais. Clean, well-maintained, modern and cheerful apartment. Listing description and photos are accurate. Owner was away so we did not benefit from her/his experience, but found them extremely easy to work with in terms of arranging the contract and payment. We were 2 adults with 2 girls ages 6 and 8. I would stay here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Four of us (women) have just returned from 2 weeks in Paris, staying in the Marais apt. We found the apt. comfortable, very clean, quiet and it had everything we needed! The location was awesome - easy walking distance to the Seine, 2 boulangeries, a grocery corner store, a Monoprix, des Vosges, metro and a great outdoor market at nearby Bastille Square. Though there were 4 of us, we never felt crowded. We loved Madame Jagou! She (and her husband) were so friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed and arranged our departure at the end of our stay. Really appreciated the asst of fruit, wine, choc.,teas, coffee etc she had in the apt upon our arrival. This was my fifth visit to Paris and because the apt was so home-like, it was one of the best! Would definetly stay there again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was my second stay in this apartment. I returned because of the excellent Marais location (close to public transportation) and a fascinating neighbourhood, all locals and few tourists. This is a good chance to see French every-day life. We were given an extremely warm welcome and good orientation information. The apartment has a fully functional kitchen and is spacious for two. The oldest square in Paris (Place des Vosges) is only a block away. It's a wonderful experience to stay here!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We stayed here for 4 nights with our 2 teenage daughters this week.We loved The apartment it was perfect ,the queen bed in the bedroom was super comfortable and sleeping at night was so quiet and dark .The kitchen was well set up with a large fridge/freezer,washing machine, microwave and dishwasher and everything else you would want. We did not cook in the kitchen but made tea and bought croissants and baguettes at the Boulangerie on the corner so we ate breakfast in the apartment. My daughters slept on the two daybeds in the living room and there was lots of storage space and closet space to hang clothes. There were also more then enough towels and robes were provided. Madame Jagou the owner let my daughter in early at 9 am as she arrived on an earlier flight and the apartment had not been rented out the previous night. We appreciated this generosity .If we had rented a hotel there would have been no way she would have been allowed in so early. Also arriving with the cash necessary for payment was much preferable tp making payment in full in advance for a place unseen. The apartment was in a perfect location ,was very comfortable and we would stay again in an instant.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This wonderful apartment was the perfect home during a week-long stay in Paris. My husband and I and our 14-year-old son all enjoyed our time at the apartment and sometimes lingered too long in the morning - before heading out for the day of activities and sites - because it was just so comfortable and easy to be there. The location is superb - very close to a metro station, a great boulanger at the corner, a several wonderful restaurants within walking distance, the little market so nearby and the bigger chainstore-market also within walkable distance, an ATM/bank in the neighborhood . Everything we needed was quite nearby. The apartment itself also had everything we needed to settle right in and feel entirely at home. The beds and linens felt luxurious, the large supply of towels in the bathroom - and those hotel-like bathrobes, the welcome basket/bowl of fruits and candy and cookies plus water and wine and juice in the refrigerator. The kitchen was fully outfitted and functional; we ate most breakfasts and a several dinners at the apartment. We highly recommend 79965 and look forward to returning someday ourselves.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had such a wonderful stay at 6 Rue St-Gilles! The photos don't fully capture the charm of the apartment. It was perfect for our recent 11 night stay. We, a couple and our teenage daughter, were very comfortable. On three of the nights there were four of us (our daughter’s friend for a weekend and then our son for one night) and this worked out just fine, too. Other family members were also visiting Paris and we met up at our place a couple of times as it's such a great location. The small nearby restaurants and shops are delightful as is the Place des Vosges. Gli Angeli, just a few doors down, accommodated 11 of us for dinner and they treated us as if we were old friends – très sympa! Most mornings we enjoyed picking up fresh baguettes and croissants at the corner bakery, Artisan Boulanger. We also enjoyed having dinner at Chez Janou and Le Petit Marché (these small restaurants are packed every night so reservations are needed). The apartment has everything you need and more. We so appreciated the bowl of goodies and drinks waiting for us. Within an hour of arriving we had all our clothes on hangers or folded and put away our suitcases in the storage closet, we were able to make this our home away from home. We’d definitely like to stay here on our next visit to Paris. Merci Madame Jagou!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

For 30 years I’ve been traveling to Paris, and this trip was highlighted by this charming and well-located apartment in the Marais, which I considered the most fascinating area in the city. If you ever wondered how to feel like a Parisian in Paris, this is where you must stay. It was a pleasure dealing with Mathias Masson through the process of renting the apartment. He was always prompt in responding my gazillion emails. Mathias, thank you for your time and patience. The apartment is clean, spacious, nicely decorated, modern bathroom, well-equipped kitchen, very comfortable beds and high quality linens. The details were meticulous; from the fluffy bathrobe, Roger & Gallet soap, hair dryer, electric shaver, iron and ironing board, the most practical subway lines place mats, wine glasses, champagne flutes, scissors, scotch tape, hi-speed wireless internet and a plug converter (found in a kitchen drawer) which saved our trip, otherwise we would not be able to charge the phones and iPad and talk to family and friends on Thanksgiving. Thank you Marie, for the welcome basket (fresh fruits, cookies, chocolate, water, juice and soda) and your warmth and kindness, this made us feel at home. We just returned from our first trip to Paris. 9/5-9/14/ 11 ) After a long trip from CA. we were greeted by Madame Jagou who showed us around the apartment and told us about nearby markets. Her English is limited, but we were able to communicate just fine. On the kitchen table was a bowl of fruit with cookies and chocolate. The refrigerator had juice, water, soda and wine! These items were greatly appreciated after our long trip. We felt the location was terrific. We walked to The Opera and many other sites. When we were not walking, the subway was just up the street as well as many local busses. The 69 bus, in particular, is a great one to take as it goes by many sites you will want to visit. The listing description is very accurate and the pictures do not do the apartment justice. The living room is very spacious and the kitchen has everything you would need to prepare a meal. The bedroom has wall to wall closets that are very spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable. If we ever return to Paris, we would not hesitate to rent this apartment again.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing.

The apartment is located in a newly renovated building. It is very quiet, shielded from the street noises by the courtyard. It is very comfortable with high standards we are accustomed to in the States, internet included. You are in the middle of the famous Les Marais, the oldest district in Paris. Multitude of little shops and restaurants within the walking distance. Keep in mind when travelling to Europe: Most old buildings don't have elevators so be prepared to carry your suitcase up to your apartment. This one is no exception but it's not bad cause it's a 2nd floor with a wide, not too steep of a staircase. Generally speaking it's a great bang for your buck. We've rented in several places in Paris for the same money and it was no nearly the quality of this place. it is our vacation "base" now. Love it!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had such a lovely stay at this apartment in the Marais. Just a block from Place Des Vosges, the metro and a supermarket. It's much bigger than the photos show! Lots of room for clothes and baggage plus a fully-stocked eat in kitchen. They've thought of everything - bathrobes, hair dryer, maps, etc. The owner is very friendly too! We would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I spent two months at this apartment from mid May to mid July this year and had a wonderful time. This is the fourth time we have rented an apartment in Paris and this is without a doubt the best experience we have had in Paris. The apartment is as advertised and more. It is clean, comfortable, and spacious. Being in Paris for this long, we especially appreciated the large and well-equipped kitchen and also the clean, modern bathroom with lots of cupboard space. We had two other adults stay with us for five nights and managed very well. The location in the Marais district of Paris is also excellent near the pretty Place des Vosges and within 1 block of a metro station. The apartment is one level above the ground floor and faces an inner courtyard so it is very quiet. One of our new favorite restaurants in Paris is “Le Petit Marche”, one block away and well worth the visit. The apartment owner, Madame Jagou, lives in the same building and is a vivacious and charming hostess. We don’t feel you can go wrong with this apartment, whether you are staying for a few days or a couple of months.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Us 3 girls(all 30 years old) stayed here from the 1st to the 7th of April. Marie and Mathius were so helpful with getting us situated in this fab apartment. It is in a great location, walking distance of restaurants, nightlife, bars and great bakeries. The apartment has everything, a blow-dryer, salt and pepper, maps, cook wear, towels etc. They even set us up with wine, fruit and cookies to get us started. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a great apartment in a great location, with the ability to cook or go out and have a comfortable place to return to at the end of a long day. We lucked out with great weather and had the best time. Thanks so much. We just returned from a longer trip which included a few days in this apartment. It was a delightful place to stay for myself, my husband, and our 2 kids, 14 and 23, who slept on the 2 sofas in the living room, which are actually very comfortable single beds (A minor quibble was that that they would have liked softer pillows). The apartment is exactly as it appears in the photos--modern style decor in a charming old building with very high ceilings. Facing the courtyard made for very quiet nights. It was also pleasantly cool with the windows open--all in all, great for sleeping. Everything was super-clean. Bathroom was nice with great water pressure in the shower and plenty of hot water. Nice towels and sheets. Kitchen was perfect for our needs (maybe not if you are planning ambitious cooking--e.g., no measuring spoons or cups that we could find, but basic pots, pans, and knives were there, plus you could probably request anything that was lacking). Location is ideal--the Marais is one of the loveliest areas of Paris, and this apt. is 2 min. walk from the metro to get you anywhere. We had a nice dinner at the nearby Petit Marche. Also found a place on Rue des Rosiers selling rotisserie chicken for a dinner at home. We would certainly stay there again if we come back to Paris.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I feel this is my home away from home. Various members of my family have stayed in this apartment over the last few years. It couldn't be more perfect from the location, to the magnificent apartment, to the owners Marie and Mathius. When I walk into this apartment, I immediately feel happy seeing the beautiful decor, the gorgeous wood floors, the tall ceilings and the tall windows with curtains draping to the floor. The bedroom is warm and cozy with an incredibly comfortable bed (not to mention the pristine, soft luxurious linens!) Everything you can think of is supplied there - towels, linens, kitchen supplies, little hotel shampoo/conditioner bottles, lotion, soap. We have stayed there from anywhere to a few days to more than a month. I dream of returning soon!! Thank you Marie and Mathius!!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I stayed in this apartment for 6 nights in September 2010. The apartment was absolutely as described and nicely decorated. The apartment includes a full kitchen with washing machine, a large living room with two couches and a large desk and a quiet and comfortable bedroom. The property was clean and fully-equipped. In addition to all the expected major appliances, we appreciated a high-quality hair dryer, iron, full-size ironing board, clothes drying rack and a large cupboard full of Paris guidebooks and novels. It is also well-located. It is one-block from a metro station and just a 5-minute walk to a larger station that is a transfer point for several different metro lines. The neighborhood is busting (but not noisy) and we were happy to eat many of our meals there, to get a baguette each day from the corner boulangerie, and to walk to many of the main Paris attractions. There is also a supermarket closeby, which we used. Matias, who helped us arrange the stay, answered all of my questions fully and promptly. Madame Jagou was a gracious hostess and we really appreciated her arranging a taxi to the airport for us. I cannot think of a single complaint about this beautiful apartment and would recommend it to anyone considering a stay in Paris.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed here for a week in May 2010. The flat is even more attractive than photographed. It is very spacious and excellently located. In fact we have been to Paris many times before; however, this time was special b/c we were living (for a week) in the Marais, which is a fascinating neighborhood. We found that Mde. Jagou (sp?) did an excellent job of preparing the flat, which was meticulously cleaned and the bedroom was outfitted in beautiful linens. She was also quite helpful with suggestions, and left a basket of goodies as others have noted. There was some renovation to the courtyard when we were there; otherwise, the flat would have been consistently quiet. The work did not generally disturb us and I expect that it is now over.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

We stayed in this apartment for eight nights in March 2009. It was the perfect location! The unit was spotless and up to date, with a spacious feel and helpful caretakers on site. As in other reviews, Mme. Jagou had stocked the unit with a few helpful items: juice, fruit, instant expresso, chocolate, and water, which helped us to settle in. There was even a bottle of red wine! (We left a bottle to help restock.) Water pressure was excellent and the unit was well heated, which was important due to a cold snap. The only thing which could improve the unit, which was Internet accessible, would be either a telephone for local calls or a computer on site, which would help with ordering taxis or finding friends in town. Excellent value and very comfortable!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 8/8

A charming, warm, modern and comfortable apartment in a 17th century building: Absolutely clean, with a very well equipped kitchen, good quality beds and overalls and a very effective heating system made us feel really great when coming back from a long day in winter Paris. Nicely appointed in one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods in Paris it offers a great selection on nice cafes and restaurants near by and is just a few meters away from metro and bus stations. Mrs Jagou proved to be a great host, with a discreet and pleasant presence while a nice welcome basket with French delicatessen was there for us. Our family of three had a great time there. We loved staying here! The apartment had everything we needed and more. The location was perfect - great cafes and restaurants in the neighborhood and less than 1 block to the Metro. It was also very very quiet. We will definitely recommend it to others and come back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

In buying real estate, location is all-important and it is also true for renting an apartment. This apartment on Rue St-Gilles is perfect from that point of view.It is 30 metres from a bake shop, 80 metres from a small supermarket and within a stones throw of several cafes and restaurants. The owner, who lives upstairs, lays on wine, fruit, chocolate, salt and pepper, coffee and sugar and several miscellaneous other cooking necessities. The key thing, however, is the quietness of the place. Considering it is only 80 metres from a very busy street, not a sound can be heard. The only problem my wife and I had was the absence of a comfortable arm chair to lounge in after a hard day of walking in the busy streets of Paris. It is an outstanding place and we can highly recommend it.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

My son and family loved staying in your guest apartment. I will be in touch to reserve a week next summer for my other son and his 2 daughters and me. As soon as he knows when he will be in Europe, I will email you. I hope we won't be too late! Bryna HellmannDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We just returned from a lovely stay at 6 rue St. Gilles. Though the front entrance and stairwell were not as expected, one should not judge a book by its cover! The apartment was simply perfect; as noted by others, there were goodies to greet us, Mme. Jagou was warm and friendly, and the apartment, itself, was clean, cozy, fully of amenities, as well as perfectly situated. If ever back in Paris, we will certainly stay there again. In the meantime, we have already recommended it to many of our friends since it's a tremendous deal. Merci beaucoup, a bientot.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

This place was gorgeous--my 3 friends and I thought it was very tastefully decorated. Everything was immaculate, the location couldn't have been better and we had a wonderful time overall. Thanks to Matthias for arranging our stay on short notice.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Every now and again on your travels you come across a real gem, as we did with the apartment at 6 Rue St Gilles. Three of us (my wife, myself and our friend) stayed there for a week commencing 6 October 2007. The apartment is beautifully decorated, well equipped, comfortable, clean and very well located for sightseeing, eating out and shopping. On our arrival there was fresh fruit, bottled water and other goodies. Madame Jagou provided us with hot croissants for breakfast one morning; all nice little touches. We can thoroughly recommend a stay at this apartment. We have stayed in the Marais before, but will certainly look to return to this apartment when we next visit Paris. My husband and I spent June 9 to June 16, 2007 in this wonderful Marais flat. It was well-stocked and a very clean and awesome place which made our week in Paris wonderful. Bakeries, fresh flower shops, grocery stores, cafe's, brassieres, great restaurants were all so close. We could walk all through Paris from the location of this flat. The metro was a two minute walk away. The train stations were all very close as well. Madame Jagou was just wonderful and very helpful.....When we return to Paris we will certainly go back to stay at 6 Rue St.-Gilles. My high school friend Betsy and I took a 1 week holiday in Paris in May 2007. This apartment added an unexpected boost to the quality of our trip. I appreciated its overall comfort, the lovely wooden floors & high ceilings, awesome new bathtub & modern conveniences, the elephant trunk light fixture and additional thoughtful details. The apartment building itself and Madame Jagout herself each add a lot of positive charm to the equation. The neighborhood is quiet (see elderly Parisian musing along sidewalk followed 30 feet behind by elderly dog also musing). The neighborhood is also lively, with tasty bistros, quaint museums, the Metro and Place des Voges steps away. What more could you ask for?Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

What a lovely, comfortable, and well-situated apartment. Madame Jagou has created a warm and serene environment and provided it with so many thoughtful and tasteful touches. A warm yet inobtrusive host, she generously provided us with beverages, fruit, and assorted goodies upon our arrival, and even left us pastries on Saturday for Sunday when she, and not we, knew that the boulangeries would be closed. The apartment was spacious and spotless, and I'd rent it again in a flash. Merveilleux!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We have just returned from a wonderful week in Paris. This apartment is wonderful, the pictures do not do it justice, a rare experience where the apartment is much better in person. You will love it here. The owner is so nice, providing us with fresh fruit and water upon arrival, and then fresh baked croissants on the week-end. She showed us the best places to eat, it was like having a best friend in Paris. The apartment was spotless. I have rented several apartments and this one was by far the cleanest. It had everything: Iron, hairdryer, well stocked clean kitchen, beautiful linens, comfortable bed in bedroom, in addition to the comfortable sofa beds. The location is subperb with nearby metro and bus stops. The beautiful Places des Vosages is just 2 minutes away. Fabulous food was on every corner. Quiet courtyard. The transaction was also so simple, no crazy forms and ridiculous deposit amounts. These are really nice people. I would highly recommend them!Did you find this review helpful?
