Lighthouse Cottage is a freshly remodeled four bedroom, one bath cottage available for weekly rental (Saturday to Saturday) from June 1st through September 1st.
Weekend rentals are available from September 2 to May 31.
Lighthouse Cottage is nestled in the heart of South Haven, a historical resort town on the shores of Lake Michigan. Our cottage is walking distance to both the beach and downtown shopping district.

There is plenty to do in South Haven, including biking, hiking, fishing, swimming in the lake or simply lounging on the beach near the lighthouse. There is a great shopping district full of unique shops and antique stores to amazing restaurants and bakeries. Depending on the season, you may catch an outdoor art fair consisting of local and far away artists or a boat race down the Black River.
There is a marina where you can bring your own boat or charter a boat. Just outside the city limits you can find pottery barns, more antique shops, farms where you can pick your produce off the tree, fudge and truffle shops and independent wineries that let you sample many of their signature wines or take tours of the vineyards.
And if you stay with us in the winter season, there is outdoor ice skating, cross country skiing and snowmobiling to go along with the year round shopping, wineries and pottery barns!

- Pet Friendly: We welcome your pets to our rental properties but please keep in mind that the area is not fenced.

Year Purchased: 2001
I am a music lover and a classic movie watcher. I played clarinet and bass clarinet from childhood to college and eventually upgraded to your standard rock band guitar and bass gear. I write music, and perform whenever and wherever I can, including rock, jazz, blues and even some folk. The summer of 2009 may actually be the first year I bring my gear from Chicago to play a show or two in South Haven!
During the cold winter in Chicago, when I am not working on music or working in a warehouse, I watch a lot of movies; mostly classics. Humphrey Bogart, Claudette Colbert, James Stewart, Cary Grant... I love Alfred Hitchcock and Akira Kurasawa, Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd, Buster Keaton, all the great horror movies with Boris Karloff or Bela Lugosi... I am a member of the Silent Film Society of Chicago too, where we gather to watch silent greats with Lon Chaney, Gloria Swanson or Clara Bow.
Why the Owner Chose South Haven
Fell in love with it, and felt it was a good investment. It allowed nme to have an escape from Chicago when I needed it as well as giving me a way to experiment with owning my own small business of renting property out to people who also wanted to get awar from wherever city they needed to escape from. South Haven was such a small, yet strong community where you could get away from the everyday crowds by vacationing somewhere away from the vacationing crowds! Peaceful and yet active. Just what I had hoped to find.
The Unique Benefits of this House
The beach is number one. Only a few minutes away, it is a great way to forget a lot of things and to soak up some sun and get wet. The wineries are great as well. All the farms you can visit, and pick your own fruit right off the trees. Waking up early in the morning to get a great eastern sunrise view from the front door of the cottage is motivating when you want to get out early for a morning run, swim or bikeride at a beach or nearby state park. I just recently found some horseback riding a few miles south I plan to check out this year.
