This was the second time we have rented Far Tortuga and was not disapointed. A group of 9 went this time and we rented the studio out as well which was perfect. The house is well equipped with anything you may need, the set up is ideal with living room and kitchen locateded in the middle of the house and sleeping quarters on each end, plenty of privacy for all. We would eat breakfast and lunch out on the screened in lani and an occasional dinner. The one thing that makes Far Tortuga stand out in our minds it the gazebo, it is a different world out there, nice and cool and excellent snorkeling right off the end. We would spend most of our days sitting out there, sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling. We just love the place and plan to return again for a 3rd time in the near future. Vince was a pleasure to deal with and answered any questions that came up before we left. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone. Dorothy and gang! After our first visit our whole family stated, "We want to go back!". And we did. Our grandchildren, ages 8 & 5,were overjoyed that we were coming back. Far Tortuga has many things going for it, but having a private pier that leads out to a wonderful gazebo with hammock really makes it the ideal vacation home for families. It is only minutes from wonderful Rum Point. We will return again!

Heaven on Earth

We stayed at Far Tortuga with our three teenagers and had a wonderful family experience. The home was lovely, large, fully appointed and very clean. It was everything we were hoping for in a relaxing get away. We enjoyed scuba diving with Wall to Wall divers, snorkeling off the dock, kyaking in the ocean, and fishing "in the back yard". Vince was very helpful before we went to Grand Cayman with recommendations for activities, restaurants, and places to go. All in all, it was a fabulous vacation. We greatly enjoyed the quiet ease of the North Side!

A RESPITE WORTH WAITING FOR

My wife and I have now spent a week or more in the past twenty-four years on seventeen Bahamian and Caribbean Islands, six of the islands were repeats. Villa Far Tortuga, located on the less populated north side of Grand Cayman Island, has thus far been the most well-equipped and unique rental that we have encountered. One specific amenity was the snorkeling right off the beach within approximately 200 feet of the outer reef. The sea creatures were much larger than all the other islands were one would have to charter a boat to view such sea life. Of course, the most significant resting and snoozing spot was on a hammock underneath the gazebo out at the end of villa's dock. Or, as we also enjoyed, after the usual arduous trip to get to any island destination, was to enjoy a nice cool rum-runner with a floater while lounging in the swimming pool to sooth ones body after the travel hassles. Although there was only two of us, for my wife and I do snore, and we prefer lots of room to literally "chill out," there is ample space, along with three multi-station satellite TV's, to comfortably accommodate ten people in five bedrooms. When I mentioned fully-equpped, I should definitely include cooking equipment. Lastly, the owner was the most accommodating and gracious individual that a guest could have to establish their vacation plans. There was no cuteness, nor over-flowering of the accommodations. What was stated and viewed on the website was what you get. It was definitely worth our nickel, Per the dictates of my wife, there were to be no formal evening meals being prepared by either of us. I, as a seafood book author, was a bit unhinged about that, but the boss is the boss. So I, with gritted teeth, acquiesced and we went out in the evening to eight restaurants, with TUKKA being enjoyed twice. Do look for the two sharks right below the shoreline. The one restaurant that we were disappointed in was the nearby OVER THE EDGE. It is over-rated and the slow service, was a turn-off. Anyone wishing to receive our comments about the other restaurants, please contact me. There isn't enough room to detail our pleasant, and occasionally odd experiences. One odd place was what I received when I ordered my standard Grey Goose Gibson, straight up, with one (cocktail) onion. The bartender, in lieu of the hint of Vermouth, actually poured the juice of an olive jar into my drink. I was offered a proper replacement, after I explained what I preferred.

Highly Recommend Far Tortuga

We just got back from a great week at Far Tortuga. There were 8 of us (6 adults and 2 kids). The place was well equipped with everything you need for both the adults (big kids) and the little ones, ages 2 & 4. They loved the pool and beach while we enjoyed snorkeling out front and the cabana out on the water. Very relaxing spot away from the hustle and bussle of the main drag (seven mile beach). Would highly recommend this villa for families or just a group of adults.

Vince We had a blast. This was our 3rd stay there in 5 years. Kristen was married there 5 years ago, we went back for their 1st anniversary and this year for their 5th. We left a picture of their wedding day at Far Tortuga on the cork board. We did dive with Ocean Frontiers and had a great time. Thanks for the suggestion. We ate many times at The Edge and never a bad meal there in the 3 years we have eaten there. We did get to eat at the Lighthouse this year. That was a meal we will never forget, just an awesome time. We all agreed this year was the best trip of all times. We snorkeled everyday, enjoyed the pool, the view. By far this is the best location of all that we have ever rented. Our family reunion at Far Tortuga was memorable. We are all spread out across the U.S. and Canada, so enjoy coming together somewhere special every few years. And Far Tortuga fit our needs perfectly. The house was well appointed and provided everything we needed for a wonderful stay. The gazebo was a favorite gathering place and we enjoyed the pool and snorkeling out our back door. The island's restaurants were a bit more expensive than we expected, but Marie provided us a wonderful Caymanian meal at the house for great value. Another good value was the water sports offered at Rum Point. The boys went jet skiing one afternoon and we all (from 21-82 years young) enjoyed the glass bottom boat trip to Stingray City and snorkeling at the coral reef. Captain Jimmy was very kind and helped my mom enjoy her first snorkel experience. All in all Far Tortuga is a lovely place to stay.

We had a lovely stay at Far Tortuga the week of Thanksgiving! The house was clean and everything we needed was provided. Snorkeling was great, but that coral sure does leave a mark if you bump into it by accident! If you can get past the reef, there are TONS on fish! :-) We hired Ms. Marie to come in and cook for us for 4 nights - WELL worth the reasonable amount she charged. Thanks for meeting all of our expectations!

This was a vacation of a lifetime! Fartortuga had everything you could ever need! We woke every morning and went directly into the water for some of the best snorkeling on the island :) The amount of fish living under the gazebo was amazing, they ate right from our hands! Waking every morning to that glorious view and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean waves was just priceless. We had Maria Russell come in and cook us a homemade Cayman dinner and it was delicious! Rum Point beach being right down the road was also a special treat. This home was the perfect location on the island it allowed us to really get in the best of Cayman. We looked at many rentals before choosing Fartortuga and by far we made the best choice! Needless to say We will be back!! Mid-October weather treated us very kindly as well :)

Words are inadequate to describe our stay at Far Tortuga. It was like being in paradise for a week. Despite being there in September the weather was perfect. We had 6 adults and 4 young children from 1 to 4 years in age. The water was beautiful; the snorkeling at the house was great. The gazebo really separates this house from others on the north side of the island. Someone was at the gazebo from early morning to well after dark. We used the cook recommended by Vince and all 3 meals were excellent. We rented a boat for a day and had a great snorkeling trip. Would definintely use him again; the captain was Daniel with Double Trouble. We all came home talking about when we would go back to the Caymans which is pretty unusual for our group.

Hello Vince and Deb. Just got home from your beautiful villa yesterday. What a wonderful vacation we had at your island retreat! Everything you said about the villa was true. The villa had everything we needed(except for small beach chairs to take away from the house). The dock and gazebo were the best! We spent so much time out there reading, talkin and just chilling out.I have not been to any other place where one can view both a sunrise and sunset over the water as you can from the gazebo. As you said, the snorkeling was fantastic. We went to other places on the island but straight out in front of the gazebo turned out to be the best on the island for me.So many differnt kinds of fish and an array of live coral near the reef was amazing. I saw several barricuda, a sting ray, many lobsters, starfish, many conch, several tarpon right under the dock and two things I have never seen before-a 3-foot yellow snake eel and a lion fish who is living under the dock! Awesome!The central air was great and the house was so spacious and clean for us six adults. If quiet and relaxation are what one needs-your well maintained home will truly provide that! All of us said we would come back again and it was the best villa we have rented out of the last 5 islands we have been to.Over The Edge restaurant was excellent for fresh local food as you recommended. Thanks again for a memerable vacation! Oh yeah, your friends at The Driftwood all said "Hello". They were very nice local people and we spent a great afternoon taliking with them. Jim D.

Grand Cayman and Far Tortuga were perfect in every way for our three-generation family group ranging in age from 15 to 72. We got to horseback ride, dive, snorkel and hang out. Our whole family loved Far Tortuga. Our ages range from 15-72. All of us are active and we all love to read so we were happy whatever the weather. It is a very pretty well laid-out house. Very quiet and private. The owner is very helpful and all of his suggestions were good. We also had a cook for dinner which added to our relaxation. Lovely people and lots of great things to do.

We just want you to know how much we love Far Tortuga and thank you for sharing your home We just recently returned staying at Far Tortuga from June 9-19. This was our third stay at the house. Needless to say, we love this home! We love the location, the house, the beach---well--just everything! Our one daughter especially likes to go to Over The Edge Restaurant down the road...so we had breafast there one morning. We do alot of snorkling, we ate at the Rum Point Restaurant to celebrate Father's Day and of course, just relaxed. We did fish off the dock and caught a couple fish (which we returned to the ocean). The house is equipped with everything anyone would need. We would recommend this home to anyone coming to Cayman. A hightlight was my husband and I renewed our wedding vows (married 39 years) on the Wharf beach and had our wedding dinner at the Wharf Restaurant. We can't say it enough--you will love staying at Far Tortuga. We will be back in one or two years to stay again

We have travelled the Caribbean the last four years and have found some great vacation homes for our annualfamily reunion. We range in age from three to 75. Far Tortuga had enough attractions to cover all of us. We especially enjoyed the gazebo. We watched the sun rise, fed the fish, read a book, took a nap and enjoyed a drink at that wonderful place. We followed Vince's suggestions for car rental, resturants, shopping and attractions. one great example was our visit to Stingray City with Blair on his boat. We had the place to ourselves. Thirty minutes later there were 12 vessels of various sizes and dozens of tourists from the several cruise ships that were spending the day at Grand Cayman. Take my advise and reserve a week at Far Tortuga. You will love it!

"Far Tortuga" is aptly named, because you are indeed far from the usual tourist crowds that come with island vacations. Our family spent last week at Vince and DebAnne's home and were totally relaxed in Cayman style. His recommendations were appropriate and fulfilled our expectations. Not only did we make use of the very helpful BA and McCurley Greene car rental, but we hired Marie to cook Cayman specialties for us one night and were not disappointed. The best thing about the house was the way in which it was appointed. There was room for everyone to spread out comfortably. We were a family anniversary trip so we had a 20 month old along with us. The beach was so easily accessible that we used it a lot. Some ideas, though: 1. Bring rubber shoes for walking in the water. 2. Bring a hat, it was windy! 3. Think twice about a casual trip to Georgetown. It is a long drive. The Northside is so much more appealing. We snorkeled,swam, ate, painted, sketched, golfed, hiked and relaxed. It was a perfect family vacation in a perfect setting.

Debanne and Vince, I had to write and thank you for the wonderful vacation that my family and I had this past week (Feb 14-21). "Far Tortuga" is "far" from the regular rental home. Inside...the openness and views of the ocean are spectacular. The kitchen is better equipped than ours at home. The dock and the gazebo was a great place for sunset cocktails. The reef just beyond..offered the most amazing snorkeling. We truly enjoyed meeting the local Cayman people in Northside. They were very nice and super friendly. Vince- Our family celebration/vacation to Grand Cayman was absolutely the best ever and your home was what made the difference. If there was anything we thought we needed, it was there in the house and in great working condition. The bikes, kayaks, fishing gear, and pool toys were readily available and items we didn't need to bring or rent on the island adding to the overall value of the property. We drove around the entire island several times and saw the homes we could have rented for the week but were so GLAD we ended up staying at Far Tortuga. Your recommendations to use BA and McCurley for the car rental, Carolyn as a local cook for our in-home Caymanian meal, and Kaibo Bar & Grill, Over the Edge and Lighthouse restaurants was spot on! Thanks so much for opening up your home and extending to us the opportunity to have a splendid time. And yes, it was sure hard to wake up this morning not listening to the waves break on the shore.

We just got back from Grand Cayman and Far Tortuga last night and I could not wait to write a comment. I am not one to take the time and write a comment; however, we had such a good time I had to share it with others. I have stayed at over two dozen homes all over the caribbean over the years and I must say that this is the BEST I have seen. We had 10 people in our party and the home was so spacious that we never felt crowded. There was never a desire to leave the property because it was so private and relaxing. The house has everything you would ever need and more. The dock and snorkeling make this a very special place. Take all the owner's suggestions because there was not a one that missed the mark from resturants, car rental, cooks, etc. The other main point would be the people of the North End. We were there for 9 days and never met a person that was not friendly and helpful. Trust me, you can not miss with this one.

Just returned from a wonderful, relaxing vacation at Far Tortuga. The weather was rainy, but we didn't care as there was so much to do anyway. Spent lots of time on the gazebo, fishing, playing games on the screened porch, puzzles and snorkeling. The house was very well stocked with linens and every imaginable kitchen utensil. Loved the layout of the house, it was really large and perfect for family gatherings. I ould recommend to anyone.

Thanks so much for renting your beautiful home to us. We had a wonderful relaxing time and the house exceeded our wildest expectations. It was so comfortable and nicely furnished right down to the original artwork. We had all of our meals on the porch and enjoyed how easy it was to prepare meals in your beautiful kitchen. It was my husband's 50th birtday and the wonderful ocean setting and pool made it perfect for him and the rest of us. All six adults (no chldren) really appreciated the free phone line and wireless internet very much. We really enjoyed the Sunday bar-b-ques down the street. Great food for the price. The car rental couple you recommended were great, easy and a fair price. We all agreed your home would be a wonderful place to bring the kids and grand kids. Hopefully, some day we might be able to do that.

Traveled to Far Tortuga with two other couples to celebrate our wedding anniversaries ( two at 10 years one at 13). We had a wonderful time and the home was everything we had hoped for. Enjoyed most days exploring the coral right outside the back door. We saw a large barracuda, a nursery shark and tons of beautiful fish. Even in the “shoulder season” the weather was beautiful and we had sun everyday. We ate at several restaurants to include the Lighthouse, Portifino’s, Over the Edge and Kiabo. All the food was great. Strongly suggest ordering the Wahoo fish at Over the Edge, it was great. Also suggest contacting Carolyn, a local who is a great cook. She prepared dinner for us at the house and it was nice to come home to a cooked meal after a day of scuba diving. The turtle farm is a bit of a drive but is a must see. This house is great for those looking for a relaxing vacation without a lot of tourists. Although nothing is more than 20 or 30 minutes away, the location of this house allows you to feel like a local. We are already trying to figure out when we can return.

Our trip to Far Tortuga was a memorable one. It was a perfect setting for our 40th birthdays along with three other couples (no children). The amenities were terrific, the meals were excellent (especially the Lighthouse and Portofino), and the pool/ocean were very relaxing. We also arranged for breakfast chef services each morning, which was money well spent. There were many memorable activities, including swimming with the sting rays, visiting the turtle farm, or just relaxing at Rum Point in the ocean (or was that a large salt water swimming pool). The snorkeling was excellent. It seemed like we saw more fish each time we swam in and around the reef. For the work-aholics in the group, or just checking in with the kids, the free VOIP phone and the wireless internet were vital lifelines.

Our stay at Far Tortuga was a wonderful experience for my whole family, 7 adults and 4 children. It is a fantastic home and everything is suppied to ensure a good time. Vince was very helpful and answered all my questions quickly and fully. I hope to be back in the near future as so far it was my best trip to the Caribbean, this was the third for the family.

Vince and DebAnne Our holiday at Far Tortuga with our family (11 in total) was everything we could ask for. The house and yard were perfect for our numbers. The well equiped kitchen was great for creative cooks in our group and the pool was well used. The gazebo was a favorite reading spot with our new pet dog(we named him Chester) We snorkeled off the dock and hoped the baracuda was friendly. Ate some great meals at the north side-Lighthouse, On the Edge, Kaibo and the beach restaurant at Rum Point. The beach there is great for kids and anyone wanting to stay out of the sun. We will return for sure and we'd reccommend Far Tortuga to any large group.

GREAT week while at Far Tortuga. The house was wonderful, the dock and gazebo the best. Snorkeling was fantastic right off the dock and enjoyed meeting 'Bob' the barracuda (while from afar yet the kids were close!). We loved the location -- always great to come back 'home' after trips to Seven Mile Beach and Rum Point. Nothing better than the backyard! Enjoyed a fantastic home cooked meal from Carolyn and a great Stingray and Snorkel trip from Blair. Thank you for sharing your home with us! The Menghini Clan

Our family had the best vacation ever at your home. There is no where else to go now but down! Debanne and Vince, Thank you guys so very much for opening your home to us. We've just returned from the most marvelous week and cannot wait to go again. Your home is beautiful, well appointed and everything is as advertised. We met Bob the 'cuda (and his smaller friend) as well as a half dozen juvenile lobsters living right next to the dock! Your suggestions were all spot on from restaurants to transport to places to visit...soup to nuts. We loved Debanne's artwork. The pool was glorious after spending time with my boys snorkeling the reef. We also logged some serious hammock time under the gazebo during afternoon rains. You have been so helpful it seemed like we were borrowing a friend's house....so much so we arranged the lounge chairs and raked the sand on our way out! We are all looking forward to visiting again with the great folks on the north side and using Far Tortuga as our "home port". Fair Winds, The King family

Dear Vince and DebAnne, We had a fantastic time staying at your lovely home Far Tortuga. This was by far the best location we have ever stayed on Grand Cayman. The weather was perfect and your home is beautiful. The snorkeling is the best just off your awesome dock and the water so warm. We love being away from the crowds which makes Far Tortuga ideal. We used BA of McCurley rent a car and that was a great recommendation from you. She is fun, informative and being picked up at the airport made it so easy. We also used Mr. Ebanks for stocking groceries in advance and Carolyn's cooking for one meal - it was all fantastic! Thank you for making your place a rental on the island. Far Tortuga Skies of Blue, sea of green. The Calli wreck was an amazing scene. Snorkeling distance from the bar A swim to the wreck was not so far. Sea grass near the cemetery is where you'll find Conch shells if that's what you have in mind. Orange starfish were brilliant to see, But we were told to let them be. Shooting stars in the heavenly mass, And twinkling lights in the dark sea grass. Carolyn was our island cook. On native food we soon were hooked. We've come to the island of sea and sand To celebrate birthdays and anniversaries at hand. Far Tortuga is an enchanted spot. A place not soon to be forgot. Vince & Deb Ann, We just spent the holidays at your beautiful home on Grand Cayman. Let me tell you, we've been to the island 5 times and this was the most fabulous time we have ever had!! The house is gorgeous, landscaping devine, and the view from the entire back of the house...spectacular! It was the most perfect vacation we have ever had! We really spent most of the time northside and met a lot of really nice locals. I'm sooooo glad that we used Mr. Ebanks' grocery delivering service, too! Our frig was loaded, and refreshments icey cold when we arrived at the house. Nothing to do but change into our bathing suits and enjoy drinks on the wonderful gazebo at the end of the dock. We spent tons of time in the water and made great use of the kayaks and our snorkeling gear. Your neighbors were "on island" while we were there and they all said to tell you hello and "soon come". Kenny is a riot and really supplied us with a lot of information about the history of the island that we were unaware of. We WILL return soon...and we'll most definitely stay at Far Tortuga. You truthfully have the most beautiful beachfront property on the island. Thanks so much!
