    I cannot say enough about how wonderful this place and Calin is! I used to live in Costa Rica and would frequent Playa Ocotal for its beautiful black sand beaches so when I got engaged, I knew this was were I wanted to have my wedding ceremony. We were looking for an affordable place where the whole family could stay, and Calin's villa was perfect! He gave us a great price for the four days we were there and then became a pseudo wedding planner for me, helping me get the flowers, restaurant, even the tiki torches and answering my endless questions with patience and knowledge. I could not have done this event without him! The weekend was superb; Calin was attentive and helpful and became such a part of our magical event, looking after every detail. His Villa fit us perfectly, and the photos did not do it justice, with beautiful, spacious rooms, especially the two apartments, which could house two larger families. The view was incredible, and we were able to all hang out by the pool late into the night, talking and spending time together. Those without cars could walk down to the beach and enjoy the local areas and restaurants. I could not have picked a better beach and spot for the ceremony, such an important event that was made all the more memorable by Calin's special touch, hospitality and beautiful villa. I am forever grateful and hope to go back as well as send many friends there. Don't think twice about booking this place, you won't regret it!

    We have just arrived home from a wonderful week at El Sueno de Ocotal. Our entire family was there including 4 grand kids. We had a great time staying in Calin's villa. Everything turned out exactly as advertised. All rooms have an ocean view, which was is the first thing you see when you get up in the morning. Just imagine waking up in the morning to the sound of tropical birds and watching sail boats out on the water. That was an everyday experience for us. The beach was just a five minute walk away. There was also plenty of shopping nearby for anything you might want to pick up. Calin is a wealth of knowledge regarding things to do around Ocotal and even farther afield if that is what you wish to do. He arranged a terrific day of sailing for our family which allowed us to see dolphins, jumping manta rays as well as many sea birds. The weather was amazing each and every day - in the mid 30's (C) / 80's (F). The ocean is also inviting and the water temperature was always just right. I could not end this review without mentioning the chef - Frank. He is quite simply - amazing. He treated us to a master piece every evening. Even if you decide to look after your own meals, you owe it to yourself of have Frank take care of at least 2 or 3 meals. He will not disappoint. Calin took great care of everything we needed. You will enjoy everything about taking a vacation in Costa Rica and staying at El Sueno de Ocotal.

    Pana nu mergi sa vezi, degeaba crezi ca-ti poti imagina o altfel de lume... Nu are nimic din rigorile vietii noastre, plantele doar crezi ca le cunosti, animalele le-ai vazut doar la tv, iar oamenii, au în ei ceva ce exprima multumirea unui trai linistit .... Important este sa-ti pretuiesti visele si atunci cand ai ocazia, sa ti le indeplinesti... Asa am facut intotdeauna si, cu siguranta, voi face mereu. Atata vraja, atata energie pozitiva cata poti asimila intr-o astfel de calatorie, pentru mine, nu se compara cu nimic! Recunosc, ca un mare merit il are gazda : Calin Ionescu -"omul de care te indragostesti la prima vedere "!!!! Salut,Calin!!!!

    On a passé deux semaines exceptionnelles au bord de l’océan ou sur la piscine. Notre hôte Calin a été très attentif à toutes nos questions et a choisi très bien les activités pour toute la période (visite au volcan en Nicaragua, Rincon de la Vieja a Guanacaste, sortie avec le voilier, etc). 100% on va revenir pour retrouver la pura vida.     That is the place to experience " Pura Vida ", vividly. What a a wonderful getaway ! What a relaxing time we all had there, indeed. And what wonderful evening dinner arrangements Calin was able to arrange with his peruvian jefe de la cocina Frank, at the ' El Sueno '. Excellente, perfecto ! And above all, no worries about making arrangements for touring around, going sight seeing. It all was so well, perfectly and efficiently planned, instantaneously, right on the spot. That is the place to be and to come back to ! Thanks Calin. Tambien, tengo que expresarle mis apreciaciones por todas las experiencias tantas hermosas. Vívidamente e inolvidable me recuerdo de un desayuno mientras que los Howler Monkeys fueron en los árboles muy cercanos, masticando sus hojas. Que experiencia maravillosa, increible ! Asi es, verdaderamente, Pura Vida debo decir, vívidamente. Mil Gracias.

    To El Sueno De Ocotal (Calin) I want to thank you for the most wonderful time that my husband and I enjoyed during our month long visit. I am not a easy tenant, never being to Costa Rica, and working remote in the jungle I had many worries and for nearly 2 months I emailed Calin on numerous times with many questions. Not ever did he make me feel that I was annoying (which I was) but he answered them with the utmost honesty and patience. # 1 - I needed high speed internet to conduct conference calls and conduct online training sessions - Calin ensured and upgraded the internet to meet my business needs. # 2 - My husband has MS and has limited mobility - Calin did everything in his power to make us comfortable, he helped me go to the bank, get groceries and carry the groceries back to our kitchen, which was beyond the call of duty. # 3 - Hospitality top notch - Given his own personal cell number, checked on us each day. This place is intimate with those who stay within it, if you don't want to talk to your neighbor this is probably not the place for you. We were there for a month, it was a pleasure to be greeted by those who had been there for days or weeks, and then in turn greeting the new faces that joined the villa. We made new friends, and had BBQ's and drinks on many nights with those we met. I still email and keep in touch with those we met on this trip which for us made it very memorable trip. For a long term stay we felt like it was a home away from home, and I would love to go back with a large group of my friends or family where we can take over the whole place!!!

    Wow! What a perfect place for us! We rented the Villa for 2 weeks with our family of 17, children and grandchildren. It was like home away from home. Calin was so very helpful, by setting up transportation for us and helping us with excursions and whatever we needed. The Villa was very clean and pleasant.He is a very pleasant and gracious host. The beach was a short walk away and was wonderful for snorkeling, fishing, lying on the beach, or swimming. Coco Beach is a short drive away and has all the shops you would want, grocery store, and wonderful restaurants. We especially enjoyed the seafood restaurants. We did do a bit of our own cooking as that worked very well for the younger children. We did quite a few excursions and enjoyed our stay very much. We love Costa Rica and will definitely be back.

    We stayed at 2nd floor apartment at El Sueño de Ocotal for 5 nights. We had a stunning view from the private balcony where we had breakfasts. We loved it all! The apartment had fully equipped kitchen including dishwasher. The king bed in spacious bedroom with full glass wall that lead to wrap-around balcony overlooking the mountains and ocean. Stylish contemporary bathroom with shower and plenty of hot water. Large leaving room with leather couches etc, etc... The walk to the beach is quick and the beach is not crowded. The owner of the Villa told us about good restaurants around, as well as places where we can get groceries to cook. He also helped us to get a nice yacht sunset trip and was very helpful with any questions we had. We'll stay there again next time in Costa Rica.

    I rented the property for a week. It was my first time renting a house for the whole family and I have to say, it was overall a very positive experience. We enjoyed our vacation very much, the beach is the best so far I have found in Guanacaste. Calin the owner was very helpful and made sure everything was fine for us during our stay.

    We stayed at this property for 2 weeks in May 2011 and had an amazing time. First off the Villa is very clean, great view of the ocean, friendly host and has all the amenities we wanted. It is a short walk to an amazing beach (great snorkelling) and 2 restaurants that we loved. It also allowed used all the freedom to explore costa rica. Coco beach is a short distance away and is a very nice beach town where you can find anything you would like. Make sure you stop at the restaurant on top of the cliffs near the villa to see the sunset. Absolutely gorgeous, we will be coming back!!!

    El Sueno de Ocotal is one of my favourite places to stay in Guanacaste. A true home away, Calin, your host is thrilled to have company and welcome you to his home. He is happy to help you with your vacation planning and is a wealth of information on the sights to see and services such as car rentals. And if your flight arrival coincides with one of Calin’s trips to town you could be lucky enough to get a lift from the airport. The inn is large with a beautiful, pristine pool out front and accommodation to suit any traveler’s needs; single rooms to an apartment and a 3 bedroom home. All rooms have large bathrooms with walk-in showers, TV and cable and air conditioning. There is an open air kitchen and even a BBQ along side the outdoor eating gazebo. The whole property is beautifully landscaped with flowering trees that attract birds. We have watched monkeys play in the trees and whales breach from our room. The views are amazing. The beach is a short walk away and the town of Coco is 5 minutes down the road by car. This place is a gem, I return every year as it has become my home away from home.

    We stayied at this villa last February and we have one of the best vacation. The villa is well located, close to Ocotal beach, surounded by a beautifull garden, with an amazing view of the ocean and a nice swimingpool. The rooms are very clean, A/C, TV, own bathroom and access to a common kitchenet and laundry. The owner is very helpful to answer to your questions and to help you plan nice trips to the surronding attractions (Arenal Vulcano, Rincon de la Vieja Conservation Parc, Palo Verde) and neighboring beaches (Flamingo, Hermosa, Tamarindo...).

    Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
