Recently a well-planned restoration has transformed the former casa padronale, the tobacco drying house an the barn into a rural residence, full of elegance and charm with antique terracotta floors, beamed ceilings and original country furniture. The accommodation which can be rented besides the casa padronale is divided into 3 seperate self-contained units making it ideal for big parties or families that are holidaying together but want more privacy.
The former tobacco drying house has been restored and renovated to create a completely independent characteristic apartment, sleeping 2/6. All rooms are tastefully furnished and decorated. The beamed living room has a dining area seating 2-10, fully equipped modern kitchen with dishwasher, freezer, electric oven. There is a full library, maps and guide books, sat-tv, cd-stereo, DVD. There are two spacious and comfortable bedrooms, each with a big kingsize bed and an additional single bed, one bathroom with bath tub, shower, ecc. Extra sleeping space available if requested. Access to covered portico with original bread oven, stunning outdoor area with dining pergola seating 10 covered in vines with bbq. Outside area and pool: the magnificent modern pool has been built inside an antique vasca to keep the original structure. It is surrounded by big gardens, plants and olive trees and overlooks the Tuscan and Umbrian hills. Besides the summer dining pergolas where guests can enjoy their outdoor cooking there are garden chairs to relax in the sun. The garden contains a lot of roses, aromatic plants, fruit trees and a kitchen garden where all ripe produce can be freely picked in the season.
On request an additional bedroom can be added. All rooms overlook the gardens and grounds and have stunning views to the surrounding landscape. The atmosphere is tranquil, views are magical. The big mediterranean garden offers a perfect refuge for those who seek peace and tranquillity. You can enjoy a leisurely stay all year, enjoying wine and food and meeting the nice people of this region.
Although nestling in the hills, the property is quiet and secluded but is very conveniently located, close to the village of San Giustino, just 1-2 minutes by car. Its position on the Tuscan/Umbrian border makes Casa Spertaglia a perfect base for touring Tuscany, Umbria and The Marche. The artistic treasures of Sansepolcro, Cortona, Caprese Michelangelo (the artist’s birthplace),Arezzo, Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio and Trasimeno Lake are close by. Florence (120km), Siena (120km), Pisa (150km), San Gimignano, (119km), Chianti region (60km), Mediterranean and Adriatic Costs, Rome and Bologna are are no more than 2hrs easy travel.
The surrounding countryside offers endless possibilities for walking and cycling. The local town of San Giustino and the nearby villages Sansepolcro, Anghiari and Città di Castello offer historic centres, markets, a big variety of shops within a few minutes drive. There are plenty of restaurants and wine bars from family run osterias to elegant style dining. Guests are provided with itineraries for visiting. |
