If you want to live like a true Venetian, this top floor apartment is for you. Just make sure you don't mind walking up 3 flights of stairs as there is no elevator in this original 17th century building (Hey, but that's part of the experience!) Since I had human friends with me, we really appreciated that there are two separate sleeping areas (one bedroom and one loft) and two separate baths. Everyone said that the mattresses were very comfortable (I slept on the sofa bed, which can be used for extra sleeping space as needed). The baths both contained newer top of the line fixtures, and the kitchen area even includes a dishwasher and washing machine (bet they didn't have those in the 17th Century!). The High Speed WIFI Internet worked like a breeze and it was great to be able to email photos to my bear friends back home (boy were they jealous!)
We REALLY appreciated all the help that Judit the property manager gave us. She gave complete instructions so the water taxi could drop us off close to the property. She met us and walked with us to show us how to get to the property and how everything works. She was fantastic!
Being able to explore Venice from this property was super; the location was very centrally located. The building is about 1/2 a block from Venice's Grand Canal and in about 3 minutes, you can be shopping for fresh fish and vegetables at the Rialto Market. A couple minutes more and you are at the Rialto Bridge. In ten more minutes, you are at San Marco Square - and all along the way, there are the most fabulous shops to explore. There are so many interesting places you can walk to in Venice. Next to the gelato, walking was my favorite pastime! When you plan your trip to Venice, I recommend that you take a serious look at this property.

Felel like a Venetian!

We stayed here prior to departing on a cruise. Clean, comfortable, spacious apartment in a neighborhood near Rialto Market, shopping and good restaurants. It's a steep walk up 3 flights of stairs, but we managed several heavy pieces of luggage. Apartment is well equipped, including dishwasher and washing machine and a laundry drying rack. Comfortable master bedroom and bath. 2nd bedroom is a steep climb into an open loft, which makes it suitable for adults or older children. Other sleeping areas provided on 2 long sofas in open plan living room. St. Mark's Square is 10-15 minute walk, and apartment location is easily accessible by water taxis. Judit, the property manager, was quickly responsive, both prior to and during our stay and her assistant provided local sightseeing information and a water taxi reservation for us from the apartment to the cruise dock. the apartment is less than a block to the canal. For a few days, we felt like real Venetians- shopping in the fruit and vegetable market of Rialto, browsing the tangle of streets that make Venice so charming, and even listening to a few family arguments through the open windows.

This condo had everything our family (two adults and two teenagers) could possibly ask for. The apartment is stylish, comfortable and had all the amenities needed. Its in an excellent area of Venice, near the markets, museums and the Grand canal on a very quiet street. The property manager was very helpful - she met us at the vaporetto stop, escorted us to the building and took the time to answer all our questions. Staying there was a highlight of our trip and we would love to return.

We stayed in this charming apartment five nights in September 2011. It was a perfect place , close to the Rialto market where we bought fresh sea food every day. Judit even put a micro wave in the kitchen on our request, thank you Judit! We will absolutely come back.

We lived in this apartment for three nights. It is absolutely gorgeous, both in its design and location. We loved those aspects, and the fact that we could walk over to the Rialto market for fresh produce, and fish to die for. There, were, unfortunately three problems with this place: (1) It has basically no working shower. The shower is a trickle and the hot water situation is wacky. You never know if the trickle will be cold or hot !! (2) The days we were there - there were mosquitoes. I know that is just facts about Venice in summer, but if we had been warned we could have done something about. (3) Judith is perfectly sweet, but she does exactly the minimum she needs to do and no more. The day we arrived we had to walk to the apartment due to a public transport strike. She was helpful and warned that there would be a strike. That was helpful. She could have helped us not walk through the mob of confused tourists on a hot day with two kids and bags. But that wasn't in the job description.
Owner response:Sorry to hear about shower, we checked right after you left and shower works fine. Unfortunately mosquitos exist in summer on lagoon, windows must be kept closed at night and use the wall mounted electric devices. On transportation, we warned you about strike on email prior to arrival and suggested to book a taxi for you....I warned you again when you arrived in Venice, however you chose to walk with your family instead. Finally, when I checked you in ,I offered you to please contact for any problem or assistance, but I never heard from you.

Our family of 5 (including teens 13, 15 & 18) found this penthouse apartment the perfect place to finish our first family trip to Italy. We spent 4 nights, arriving July 2nd and departing July 6th, 2011. My husband travels to Italy 3-4 times a year, and was able to personally inspect the property before we booked our stay. I was skeptical that it would be as beautiful as the written text claims, but it was, and better! The kids shared the smaller second bath and split up between the loft and the gigantic sectional sofa; this gave them access to the 'fridge for midnite snacks w/o disturbing us. Our big bedroom was lovely with windows that opened onto the street below (and if you stuck your head completely out there is a canal view!). The church bells were amazing to hear, and fortunately do not ring until 9:30am for late sleepers. On a practical note, the washer and drying rack were put to use way more than I expected. Judit, the property manager met us near the Rialto Market vaparetto stop and walked us to the property and explained how to turn on the A/C and work the appliances. Local grocery shopping is a breeze; turn right when exiting the front door and the Rialto market is minutes away by foot for the freshest veggies & fruit, a little shop for cheese was just a few minutes beyond that. While we purchased plenty of produce, we were not so much into fish though it was amazing to see & photograph. Turn left from the front door and a small grocery store for bread & cereal, milk and juice was a few minutes walk in the other direction. Dinners most nights were at our neighborhood sidewalk restaurants while lunches were out & about in Venice. If it's possible to have a second honeymoon after 22 years w/ 3 teens along, Venice (and this apartment) is the place to go!

Four of us (2 couples) stayed in this apartment for 2 nights in early May, 2011. The place was exactly as advertised, and we were extremely impressed. Two nice bedrooms and 2 complete baths make life easier. The apartment is loaded with character, and is in an absolutely fantastic location. It is right beside the Rialto market, which is an experience in itself. If you love seafood, you've gone to heaven here. There are no views to speak of from the apartment, but it is a half block from the Grand Canal, and is close to everything. The core of Venice is not that big, yet you will manage to get lost every time you venture out. However, this apartment is always easy to find your way back to, given its primo location. The lisitng mentions that there are no elevators, and they are not kidding. There are lots of steps, and getting up them -especially with luggage-is not for the weak-kneed. It is an adventure in itself. One of the things that made the process so much easier was the property manager Judit, who was just amazing. She was extremely responsive to all of our emails, so we felt comfortable with the process. She gave us great information, including how to get to the meeting point etc..(and if you getting from one point to another is easy, then you've never been to Venice). Overall, a great experience, and a fabulous apartment.

We stayed in this apartment for three nights in December. We arrived in the snow and it was freezing! We liked the apartment. It was very comfortable. The windows aren't double glazed and the children sleeping in the living area had a very cold night. However, Judit was quick to respond with warm blankets the next day. You should also be aware there is no oven or microwave. There is a washing machine but no dryer. Our clothes dried quickly on the portable clothes line. The stairs are a bit of a pain but that is part of the experience. Although it is a penthouse, there is no view of canals - just other next door buildings. Mind the stairs up to the loft. They are doozies! It is easy to get everywhere from this location and so close to the Rialto Markets. Also, a great and easy walk to the very nice Jewish area.

My wife and I and 2 adult children stayed here in the 1st week of October. The apartment was just as expected, stylish, comfortable, spacious and well appointed. In all a fabulous base for our 1st time in Venice. So close to the wonderful Rialto markets, yet quiet, and a wonderful position from which explore Venice by foot, or vaporeto and far enough away from the tourist hordes at San Marco ! Judit the apartment manager was more than helpful before and while we were in Venice. We will certainly return, if not to this apartment certainly to one of the others restored by the same architect and managed by Judit.Even with the 4 flights of stairs (up which we were running like spring chickens by the end of our stay!) We would not hesitate to recommend this apartment !

The apartment is exactly as shown online. A great space and terrific location. Unfortunately, it was very hot during our stay and the air conditioning didn't work. The owner's representatives stated they were sorry about the heat, but that they couldn't get any service for the unit (we arrived on the weekend). If the AC actually worked, I would rate it 5 stars.

We stayed at the Rialto Market Penthouse for 3 nights in October 2008. Traveling as 2 couples, this apartment is great because it has 2 separate sleeping areas and 2 full bathrooms. Bonus, the towels are plush! The living area is HUGE and comfortable! Great for sharing stories of all the adventures you had during the day with your traveling companions. The proximity of the Rialto (Fish) Market is ideal because it makes it easy to prepare fresh meals at home instead of wasting money on eating out. Everything in Venice is close and so is this apartment. Close to the market, close to the Grand Canal, and close to a vaporetto station. Next time I go to Venice I'll stay here again if it's available. Just a warning to the weak-kneed, you have to climb a lot of stairs to reach this true penthouse apartment.
