this was a great apt.for us...we had an awesome time during our stay... we would go back again. the price we paid for what we got was very fair...our expectations were met...I would suspect that most people would have little to complain about. merci!

This is a charming studio in a very lively, artistic neighborhood. The arrangements are very well organized, including a great self-check in procedure, and the studio offers many conveniences: kitchen, washing machine/dryer, dishwasher. North American visitors might find it small, however, especially the narrow bathroom. Also, you need to know that Montmartre is very hilly and the studio is on the 4th floor with no elevator, so a certain degree of fitness is required (to me it was a plus, helped stay in shape while enjoying good food!).

My partner and I stayed at this apartment for a week, and it was exactly what we were looking for. We arrived after a long transatlantic flight to be welcomed into a wonderfully equipped, naturally lit apartment that had a wonderful view of the distant city. We spent the evenings sharing a bottle of wine while watching the lights of the city twinkle in the distance. The apartment is located in the heart of Montmartre, which was a nice respite from the busy center of Paris. It was about a 25 minute metro ride to Paris (Louvre), but the metro is very easy to navigate (it runs regularly every 5 minutes). I will say that it was very nice leaving the hustle of central Paris in the evenings for quiet Montmartre. Montmartre has some wonderful restaurants, and plenty of shopping opportunities. It is very hilly, so if you have difficulty walking up steep hills, it may be an issue. Check-in and Check-out was extremely easy. We met the owner (who lived nearby), who was extremely welcoming and kind. He ensured that we were happy with the apartment. If you stay here, definitely try the almond tarts and baguettes from the Boulangerie across from the apartment, they are outstanding!

Considering all of the fantastic reviews about the apartment, we were less than impressed with our stay. The description we received stated that "we always keep basic cleaning and food material in the apartment for our guests not to start their vacation period by painful salt, butter and laundry powder shopping". If only that were true. We did not expect the apartment to be stocked with everything we would need during our stay - we are seasoned VRBO users - but one load worth of laundry detergent would have been a wonderful extra. Instead, we bought an entire bottle of laundry detergent for one or two loads. Hopefully it remains in the apartment for others to use. There was ONE kitchen towel and a very old sponge. Glad we didn't decide to make use of the oven; I couldn't find an oven mitt or hot pad. I realize that none of these things were promised, but we've learned through other VRBO experiences that it is these little things that make a world of difference. Maybe a few paper towels (or a new sponge), more than one kitchen towel, an oven mitt, a little detergent for dishwasher, an extra roll of toilet paper (or at least a complete one to start with), maybe some hand soap, maybe even an extra hand and/or bath towel. Just some suggestions to make guest stays more comfortable - I don't think most VRBO travelers would take advantage, but instead would use only something they really needed in a pinch. Take home message if you are considering the apartment: be prepared for it to be extremely bare bones. Also be prepared to sleep on a lumpy IKEA-style futon that has seen better days. Pros:clean, owner easy to deal with, good location (near Metro station, sacre coeur, great bakeries, cafes, fromageries, charcuteries), clear directions for access to apt, deposit quickly refunded. I would rate it a 2.5, but that is not an option in the rating system. Perhaps it's average & I don't have a good perspective; we have had excellent experiences in other sought-after locations such as Barcelona and Hawaii.

Owner response: Well Laurie, we do respect your feelings. But as a matter of fact and very respectfully, I feel you are focusing on details. We would have been happy to correct those immediately (oven mitt, detergent ...). Also, you are misrepresent some facts. As you said, "our apt is clean, owner is easy to deal with (I tend to agree ;-)), good location". You forgot to mention it is well set up and has a nice view over Paris roofs. Table, chairs, coffee table, bed table are of a nice design & quality. The kitchen whole is an original design. The mattress is NOT a futon, nobody ever complained. It is true, we have a single piece of Ikea furniture, the closet. We do recognize we do not supply food. Nevertheless, there was salt and pepper, tea, sugar. Old sponge and no oven mitt ?. Our mistake. We will correct this. But had you come up to ask for it would have been solved immediately. Come on, we are living the floor above as explained. As you mentioned, all our guests posted very positive reviews. I do believe it proves the apt value is high. We have guests coming once every year. That said, we do understand some guests are more sensitive to details than others. We definitely will add an oven mitt and detergent. Sincerely Jnoel

The studio apartment at Place Emile Goudeau is a perfect location from which to experience living in Paris. The studio has such a lovely view. The neighborhood is great, especially the easy access to the shops of rue Lepic where we bought great food to cook in the well equipped kitchen. During our time there, we had the feeling of living right in the neighborhood. Access to the city and beyond via the subway was just a short walk away. The local vendors were friendly and helpful as we did our shopping each day. I am glad I was able to give my family a real Parisian experience. We hope to visit again in the future!

We greatly enjoyed our week in your Padanou apartment in Montmartre. The place was cozy and had all we needed. Although amidst other apartments, we found it quiet. The location was very attractive, with nice little shops and cafes nearby, as well as close to the metro. The tourist info left in the apartment was helpful. Montmartre has a very special ambiance and our stay was a highlight of our Europe trip. Thank you for your hospitality.

We had an absolutely marvelous experience renting this studio for a week in Paris. The studio was representative of what was written and presented in the pictures. It has all the essentials and it was lovely to come "home" every day to a comfortable and clean studio after a long day of sight seeing. The "full" bed was very comfortable and we had a smaller "twin" bed that was delivered for an extra charge as we were two friends and wished to have our own beds. The twin bed was more comfortable than we had imagined but we did switch off and slept without any issues. The neighborhood was quiet, peaceful, and safe. It was minutes from the Abbesses metro stop (12 line) and minutes downhill from the bustling streets of Montmartre cafes and shops. There is a wonderful 40's swing/jazz bar Chez Camille down the street perfect for the 20-40 age range that I wished I would have had more energy to go there every night after a full day of sight seeing. The cafe at the foot of the building is also a wonderful place to enjoy a meal and a glass of wine when you are to weary to search for anything else after a long day. The apartment manager was very responsive answering questions when asked and overall I will use VRBO again for future travels as we were very satisfied and would stay at this studio again if returning to Paris. For reference, we were two friends, aged 32, from New York and California. Please keep in mind this is a gorgeous but old building that is clean and full of character including a winding staircase and at the top of a medium sized hill with a cobblestone street. So you might find packing light to be your helpful even if you take a cab to and from the airport. I had packed to much on a trip to Turkey and attempted to haul large suitcases up such stairways and promised to never do that to myself again! It is not worth it-the studio comes with an easy to use washer dryer combo. The studio perfectly suited all our needs and even though small it was well designed with a good use of the space.

Elles ont rencontré plusieurs nouveaux amis. Elles me disent que l'endroit est très bien et qu'il est situé dans un très jolie quartier. Je retiens votre adresse si jamais je vais à Paris.

The location of the apartment was perfect. It was easy to reach anyplace in Paris by the nearby Abbesses Metro station. The best part was going "home" to our place. It was fun exploring the neighborhood and finding the best bread and discovering wonderful restaurants, all within an easy walk from our apartment. The apartment had everything you would need. We had a little problem and JNoel responded immediately. The only issue: it is a fun area with a great view of Paris from the courtyard right outside the apartment, which results in a street party that can be pretty noisy. We would stay again, however, and this time for longer!

"Apartement Padanou" was a perfect base for our stay in Paris. Although a studio, it had everything we needed--a comfortable bed, plenty of closet space, a stove, refrigerator, washer/dryer, and great heat. Best yet, if you're like us and plan on doing some cooking to save money, it's less than five minutes from a street that has plenty of cheese, meat, fish, and boulangerie shops, not to mention the Abbesses metro stop. It couldn't be more convenient. We had one mechanical problem at the apartment, and Jean-Noel was there within minutes to fix it. You can't ask for more. If you're trying to find this on a map, look for the "Bateau-Lavoir" tourist site--it's right across the square from the apartment.

The apartment is small, but with spectacular light, with direct sunlight and views over the city, it seems much larger. It is not fancy, but is clean and comfortable. It is in a wonderful Montmartre location, rue des Abbesses outside the tourist zones, and so provides a real taste of what that most wonderful quartier is like. Transportation (the 12 line) couldn't be more convenient. Rue des Abbesses is a great shopping street for food. (The kitchen is too small to do any serious cooking, but fine for heating things up, breakfasts, etc, and with the prepared foods so good and so nearby, it is not an issue.) It is very quiet. The owner, who is fluent in English, was immediately responsive to a minor technical glitch. I know Paris well and this part of Montmartre is a treat. Not recommended, however, for people for whom slopes or stairs is a problem. It is not severe, but should be considered.

I spent a week here in October 2011. It is the perfect spot. In the centre of all Montmartre's charm and close to transportation...both bus and metro. The apartment is well equipped so that I was able to prepare all my breakfasts and diners with ease. And I could open the two very tall windows and gaze down upon Paris while I dined. I was lucky as the weather was warm enough to be able to keep the windows open both in the morning and in the evening. The flat was even better than the photos. And the washing machine alows you to both wash and dry. I didn't have enough dishes to bother with the dishwasher but there is one available. My hoast and his business partner were very helpful with any questions I had. At first I thought the WiFi was not working but it turne out to be a problem with my computer. I cannot wait to return. Next time I will stay for longer.

Hello Jean Noel, I was wondering if there is a model number and a manufacturer stamp in the wonderful interior door lock of Padonou Apt. It was a very secure lock with the top & bottom metal locks. There have been a bunch of burglaries in our neighborhood & can not seem to find that specific door bolt/lock anywhere online. Please get back to me when you can. Our time in Padonou was magic. Love, Susan

My Fiance and I rented from Jean Noel in January of 2011. The neighborhood and apartment are wonderful. There is just the perfect amount of room for 2 people. Full kitchen so you don't have to eat out every meal. Plus a washer/dryer so you don't have to over pack. It's a quick walk to the Metro, stores and restaurants. The windows are huge and the apt. is full of light. The view of Paris is amazing! The bed serves as sleeping quarters and also sofa. The apt. is stocked with books and tourist guides to Paris. Upon hearing of our engagement Jean Noel left us a card and a bottle of wine. It was such a nice thing for him to do. We saw no crime and always felt safe. I would recommended this apartment to any single person or couple. We will definitely stay with Jean Noel in this or any other of his rentals again. The descriptions and photos are completely accurate!

We stayed here in September for 9 nights. We found the description to be absolutely accurate. This is the most perfect location; finding our way to the apartment and obtaining the keys was very easy. Abbess metro is very close and there are also busses quite near. You're spoiled for choice of restaurants on Rue Abbess and Lepic & shops are handy for buying everything you'd need to cook lovely food in the apartment. The apartment itself is comfortable, has lovely natural light, it is well equipped, the shower is hot and efficient, wifi is fast, bed comfortable and cosy, everything was clean. Jean-Noel was very easy to deal with, our deposit was quickly refunded. We'd recommend the apartment to friends and would love to return. NB The patisserie at the foot of the square has the BEST croissants. Jan

Thank you so much for such perfect accomodations. Your building in Montmarte is a prize! We loved coming home to our studio after a long day of seeing the sites of Paris. Steps to Sacre Coeur, amazing views, and lovely music outside our window. Quite lovely. hope to return with the whole family next time. Currently missing the pastries outside my front door!
