  I stayed with my son and daughter last June, and had a wonderful time there. It is a gem of a place, especially for the price. This was the second year in a row, and truthfully I'm reluctant to write a review, because I don't want anyone else to know about it! There is plenty of room, a cute little kitchen, a separate bedroom for the kids, and it is literally just steps away from the beach, which is the best thing about it, of course. I also appreciate the bottle of wine we receive as a welcome gift.

  Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

  Had a great time! Walk to the beach was short and pleasant and the beach was great..Cottage was cozy,clean and comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Would return here again and hope to have a longer time to stay.Owner was friendly and helpful.

  Not as nice as the pictures show. Very old & could have been cleaner. We walked in to a musty smelling home. The futon in the living area is very uncomfortable, you can feel the frame under you as you sit. The mattresses in both bedrooms are also very thin & not very supportive. We had no TV for most of the week because we could not get a signal & when we did, we only got 1 channel. We were not told where the instructions to the older microwave were until the day before we left, so that was useless to us. The kitchen lacked a few utensils such as a vegetable peeler. There also are no large pots to boil water in.The best thing was the beach. The surrounding communities were very nice as well.

  Owner response: I am so sorry you were disappointed in your stay. Due to a family emergency, I was out of town and unable to check the cottage. The tv issue has been addressed with the installation of cable and a new microwave as well as new mattresses have been added. I do feel the pictures are representative and the cottage is old and has been much enjoyed. I try to price it as such and advertise no modern amenities. I thank you for your comments and am glad you could enjoy the beach

  So far my family and I have stayed here twice and plan on coming back again! The location is wonderful, close to the beach, Swedish Bakery and not a bad drive to Chicago on a rainy day. We also love going into New Buffalo for dinner at several of their amazing restaurants. I also always stop at Barney's grocery to stock the fridge! The beach is clean and quiet even during peak season and so is the neighborhood. The cottage has everything you need for a relaxing Lake Michigan beach vacation, no need to bring a lot of extras!

  The cottage is located in a very nice private setting - heavily wooded, and a short walk to a beach. Two cosy bedrooms, and a spacious kitchen with all amenities. Harbert is a beautiful community. We loved Gulistan reataurant (mediterrian) and pies from the Swedesh bakery. The owner is wonderful - we recieved a bottle of local vine as a welcome gift. Also, the owner sent us some items that my 4 y.o. daughter left behind. We were very pleased with the owner's polite and freindly nature. We would love to come back and stay here again!

  My two daughters and I have stayed in this home three times over the last five years or so. We love the quaint feel of this cottage so near Lake Michigan. Well kept, well stocked and in a beautiful private beach association. This place is just a short walk to a beautiful private beach association. Staying here is a step back in time...no phone, no washer/dryer...but oh so relaxing and cozy. (laundromat close by in Sawyer, if you need to do laundry...this is also where you rent videos/dvds) We loved the location to the beach, the bakery and all the other quaint towns besides Harbert. We enjoy Capozios for dinner, Redamaks in New Buffalo anytime, and shopping in nearby Michigan City, Indiana. Great rental...
