Le Castel is the loveliest place we’ve ever stayed. We’ve stayed here 3 times and had our wedding here in August, when we spent 4 nights in the châteaux with all our family. We had the most amazing time, not only on our wedding day, but the whole time we were there. The setting was so perfect, and John’s attention to detail was amazing. The house itself is so welcoming, we felt right at home there straight away, and John was the perfect host. The food he cooked was delicious, and nothing was too much trouble. We can’t recommend this place enough and we’re hoping to go back next year to celebrate our anniversary!

I recently returned from a short break in Normandy staying in Le Castel, and had a wonderful time. The house itself is beautiful - it is big enough to look very grand, but also small enough to still feel very homely and comfortable. The salon and dining room are beautifully furnished with a very varied range of antiques, including some very quirky touches. Our room (the Napoleon room) was equally stunning - very large, with a lovely antique walnut bed and marble fireplace, wooden shutters and an absolutely huge bathroom. The views out of the windows over the large lawn surrounded by some lovely trees was just wonderful. Jon is a fantastic host - nothing was too much trouble, and we were made to feel very welcome. The evening meals at Le Castel were the highlight of our stay. Fantastic food, all locally sourced and including a variety of local specialties. Considering the quality of the food, the four courses and of course the impressive surroundings you are eating in it is great value. There are also some lovely local restaurants in the area, but we actually preferred dinning at Le Castel. The local area is beautiful - lots of winding country lanes, a stunning, windswept beach (montmartin sur mer) less than half an hour away and a very impressive cathedral in local town of Coutances - but Le Castel was also perfectly located for visiting all of Normandy's best known sights such as Mont St Michelle, Bayeux and the D-Day beaches. And to top it all off, Le Castel is home to two beautiful Burmese cats, Kylie and Robbie. Highly recommended.

Thank you for a truly memorable Golden Wedding. I have just taken in 115 photos for printing - they are the must haves. Le Castel is wonderful and provided just the atmosphere and setting we had hoped for. You made us so welcome. What a truly memorable house party.
