My wife and I have stayed in rental property all over the world and almost never return to one. This place is special and we have just returned from our SECOND month long stay. If you read our last review (2/16/11) you will see why as everything is as discussed then (except no Tsunami this time). MAHALO to the owners

I just returned from my trip from Kona and the Big Island, and had an amazing time! Part of what contributed to the enjoyment of my stay was staying in this wonderful unit. From the day I reserved it last February, the communication with Helen was fantastic, and she helped me answer questions I had about the Big Island. Helen was very responsive and helpful at all times. Information about the amount due, how to check in, etc. was all very clear...no problems at all. The unit was very clean, and was exactly as it is shown here on VRBO. There was complimentary coffee and candy, which is rare (if not non-existient) with other rental units. No shortage of towels for the unit...however, bring your beach towel, as the ones from the front desk aren't that great. Helen also provides a cooler which is ideal for road trips on the island, as well as other amenities for enjoyment at the beach. I would absolutely recommend this unit! It is very close to Kona, easily within walking distance and other activities. While in Kona, be sure to visit: - Humpy's Alehouse - Splashers Grill - Lava Java coffee - Don the Beachcomber for Mai Tai's - Splashers Ocean Adventures - especially the Manta Ray night swim! - Mauna Kea trip on Hawaii Forest & Trail - Kona Coffee & Tea

The best condo, complex and owners EVER! We have been going to the Hawaiian islands for 30 years and have never experienced owners who actually care about their guests. The condo is exactly as described, very well equipped and the perfect location! The complex is very quiet and very well built. We just returned last night and are ready to return! Very relaxing and so close to town.....we walked 99% of the time! A big mahalo to Helen & Ray for everything!!

We just returned from two weeks in this unit. It had everything available to make the stay perfect. What was so great was the view from the lanai! Sufers to the left, 3 sea turtles directly in front, and cruise ships on Wed. to the right! Being on the top floor provided privacy, and we didn't close the lanai door the entire time. Easy access to town was a plus, since parking is limited if you have to drive. We love the big island and all the activities and sights that are there. Snorkeling, kayaking, hiking, volcano, and numerous beaches. The only suggestion I would offer for the condo is that the company that provides the linens and towels, needs to upgrade the sheets and put a fitted sheet on the bottom. However, that certainly didn't impact our vacation. The owners were very easy to work with and very nice. She even called during our stay to check that everything was OK.

What a perfect stay for our 48th anniversary. This condo is right on the ocean, but if big waves bother you at night, they won't here because of where the bedroom is situated. Turtles, many kinds of fish, surfers, fishermen can all be seen from the lanai. We walked to eat and shop. We spent a day fishing with the Ihu Nui crew, Captain McGrew and Carlton. Gary caught a 423 1/2 pound blue marlin for his 70th birthday and was a very happy guy. We snorkeled at "A" bay and at the Mauna Lani bay. Because of over touristing, snorkeling at Kahalu'u Beach Park is no longer recommended by U of Hawaii, so the reef can recover. Was sorry to hear that, because it was also one of our favorite places. We've stayed in Kona about 10 times and this condo is the best. We had a great time.

The vacation my wife and I experienced at this condo unit was one of the best we have had in our long list of vacation rentals. Any review of a rental Condo needs to be done in two parts. The first is about the complex and the second about the individual unit. The complex is well VERY well built and maintained, as are the public areas. The staff was very cordial and helpful. We experienced the 3/11/11 Tsunami while there and the management company (Castle) was cleaning and repairing as soon as the all clear was announced. There were about 16 first floor units that received major damage and by the end of the first full day the grounds were free of most visual signs. Even the pool was open within two days. The only issue I could find with the complex would be the elevators. If a person HAS to rely on an elevator for floor access, they should inquire about the elevator mid-level landing (with stairs) configurations. The unit itself was PERFECT for the two of us. It was VERY well equipped and maintained and exactly as listed. Being on the forth floor, no Tsunami damaged was experienced. The prime location within the complex was just what we expected and received. What more could be said. Mahalo (thank you) to the Millers.

Everything about the place was very nice, including the price, except for the bottom sheet on the bed that didn't fit right. This place has an excellent view right on the ocean front in a well maintained complex with pool and ample outdoor area for sunning. We could see turtles feeding from the lanai while we had our morning coffee. The lounges on the lanai were very comfortable. Walking to town was a plus. We get our fruit and vegetables at the Farmer's Market. We do our snorkeling at close by Kahalu'u Beach Park where we have never failed to see turtles. Since we live in Western Washington and have a lot of rain, we appreciate the dry climate of the western side of Hawaii. We arrived on 11-29-2010 and left on 12-10-2010. The weather was great with temperature around 80 and no rain in the day time until the last day when we flew out. We will probably return to this unit the next time we visit and would recommend it to others.

The minute we walked out onto the very private, large lanai - the pounding surf directly below was a beautiful sight to behold! We often prepared meals in our kitchen & happily spent hours out on the lanai watching the waves & listening to the roar of the ocean. We saw huge turtles in the surf several mornings. Other's saw spinning dolphins not too far offshore. We enjoyed the cool weather & constant ocean breezes that flowed thru the condo with the front door and/or bedroom windows open. The unit was clean & well-maintained & very thoughtfully equipped with lots of extra homey touches - we felt very much at home. There are many terrific restaurants within walking distance. But our favorite was the family owned & run Orchid Thai restaurant - we split their $9.95 lunch specials & they are all delicious! Last time we were there our waiter "Charlie" gave us a bunch of orchids to take back to our condo. We bought ourselves "Hawaii's Birds" by the Hawaii Audubon Society at Walmart & took it with us everywhere - had fun identifying 21 species on this trip. We loved the saltwater pool down in the bbq area & enjoyed a swim every evening. Mahalo Helen & Ray for the Hawaiian music, the box of choc/macs & the Kona Coffee - really enjoyed it all! We hope to return some day soon.

My husband stayed here for four nights in April and it was absolutely perfect. The unit was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the view was unbeatable. We had lovely mornings on the lanai drinking coffee, and loved that it was an easy walk to town for dinner and drinks at night. We never used the A/C, just enjoyed the sound of the waves all night. The complex was very quiet while we were there, but with all the great beaches nearby we never made it down to the pool. Helen was very responsive and helpful when setting up the reservation. I can't recommend this place enough!

We just returned from a 15 day stay at the Kona Reef ....what a truly wonderful experience we had! We have stayed in Kona previously and this was, by far, the best and most enjoyable place we have stayed. The unit was fully stocked with everything we could possibly need.....we had to force ourselves at times to even leave the lanai! The views were breathtaking and the whale & dolphins and surfers were very entertaining. The lanai was so private, we felt like we were the only ones in the complex at times. The Kona Reef has a wonderful pool and cabana area that can be used your outdoor cooking if you choose. I have never seen a place so well maintained and clean. We were VERY impressed. Can't wait to go back!

Have stayed in this unit for numerous years. Has everything you could possibly need (full kitchen, washer/dryer) and very comfortable bed. We do not even check any luggage. Great view of whales (in season) and sunsets from the lanai. The Kona Reef location is perfect with an easy 5-10 minute walk into town.

Helen provided my wife and I with a wonderful experience! The condo was so very accomodating. We needed absolutely nothing more than what was provided. The condo was well maintained, clean, and comfortable. We never used the A.C., just the perfectly located fans and the ocean breeze. Perfect! The view is outstanding! We watched whales, and spinner dolphins. We watched the UFO parasailing, cruise ships, surfers, wave runners, and the natural beauty. The grounds for the condo were just what we needed! Saltwater pool, great sunbathing in the pool area and the grass area! You could sit in the sand or walk the rocks. We watched a local man catch fish for several days. The BBQ area was perfect. There were four nice grills to use, and we used them! In fact, a nice man offered us some fresh tuna he caught earlier that morning! We couldn't say no. We grilled it, and It was absolutely delicious! If you don't mind walking a few blocks into town, you can't beat the location of this place! Everything is available, from food to shoes. This was my 6th time here at Kailua, Kona at various locations, and it was the best! I could talk endlessly about our stay, but you should experience it for yourself! Don't hesitate to stay here! Aloha, and mahalo Helen!!

We have stayed in this unit several times. It is comfortable, clean and has everything you need. For us the location is perfect and the lanai is very private. We enjoy afternoons on the loungers listening to the surf and watching the water activities after a morning of wonderful snorkeling.

Our stay was very nice and comfortable. Very good accommodation that had everything that we needed plus extras (including a boogie board). The chocolate and coffee was a very nice welcoming touch. Excellent location to shops, restaurants, etc. You can't beat the fantastic view...seeing the spinner dolphins will be a lasting memory. Thank you for such a nice stay and we hope to come back soon.

My husband and I stayed in this condo during the month of Aug. 2009 and found the views to be as lovely as we had hoped for. A very good value for the rate amount. The owner is very accommodating and provides extras to the unit....even a "first aid kit"!!! The complex is located within walking distance to all the hot spots in Kona and provides the most lovely pool and grilling area. You can't go wrong by choosing this unit.
